2 ST. NICHOLAS PARISH BREAKFAST Saturday, December 9 8:30 AM EVERYONE is invited to celebrate the Christmas season at our 5th Annual St. Nicholas Parish Breakfast! Come and enjoy delicious pancakes, sausage, snowman soup (hot cocoa), and coffee for the adults. We will have a visit from St. Nicholas! Also during the breakfast, we invite each new family/ single or those who missed it in previous years, to pick up a Chrismon to take home and decorate. A Chrismon is a Christmas decoration that uses Christian symbols to represent our Lord Jesus Christ. We ask that you return it to the church no later than Sunday, Dec. 17. They will adorn our parish family Christmas trees. In the tradition of St. Nicholas of showing love and kindness by caring for others and God s creatures, we will be accepting donations for the following: Parish Outreach Food Pantry Effingham Animal Society

We are generous when we have the time or the money. But, generosity is the opposite of that. By concluding the year with this feast we are proclaiming our faith that Jesus Christ is the one and only king over all seasons, all peoples, and all of creation. At the end of time as we know it, Christ s work of restoring all things to unity and harmony with their Creator God will be completed. This Sunday, when we claim Christ as both our Shepherd and our King, we recognize our own calling to participate in Christ s saving work by caring for those whom Jesus calls the least ones (Matthew 25:45). 5 Children's Christmas Eve Pageant The Children's Christmas Eve Pageant will be during the 5:00 pm Mass on Christmas Eve. If you would like your children to participate please sign up on the sheet on the table in the foyer. Advent Penance Service St. Boniface will hold it s Advent Penance Service on Wednesday, December 6, Come get your Oil Change before Christmas free of charge. The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary December 8, 2017 is a Holy Day of Obligation. We will have Mass at 12 noon and 7pm. Your Help is Needed As we come to the end of the Liturgical year this Sunday, the feast of Christ the King, we need your help. After the 11 am Mass, please take your hymnal from your chair and place it on the carts in the back of the church. Thank you. Wednesday 11/29 Eric Gauge Saturday 12/ 2 +Joseph Hickey +Christopher Smith A Christmas Pasadas The Posadas (Spanish for the inns ), is an Advent-time event, (traditionally held from December 16 and ending on December 24, rather being held in homes, can be held in the church, or into a one-time procession which starts at a nearby home (or homes) and concludes at the church. The whole congregation, as well as neighbors and friends, are invited to participate. The participants are divided into two groups, with one half (the pilgrims) gathering outside the church or social hall while the other half (the inkeepers) wait inside. The song can be sung in English or, even better, in both English and Spanish. The song ends with the pilgrims entering the inn to a joyous welcome. Las Posadas son un evento que tiene lugar durante el Adviento en el que se representa el peregrinaje de Jose y Maria (los peregrinos) rumbo a Belen para empadronarse y su búsqueda de un lugar donde albergarse. Tradicionalmente se llevan a cabo del 16 al 24 de Diciembre, ya sea en las casas, puede hacerse en las iglesias o en procesión que empieza en casa y concluye en la iglesia. 6 No class on November 26 Classes resume on December 3rd. Prayer checks rescheduled First and fifth graders will be prayer-checked on December 3. Please encourage your child to be prepared. Church Volunteer Needed for Safety of St. Boniface Children: There is a need for an extra volunteer during CCD hours, to watch the hallways as our children are attending their spiritual classes. We want to protect our children and keep them safe from anyone who may come into the hallways as some children go to bathrooms/water breaks we want to ensure at all times they do not go unattended. We have one volunteer as of now but need two for safety and security of both hallways. Please let Celeste Gish or Brandi Ellis know if you would like to volunteer to assist during the hours between 9:20-10:45 on Sunday mornings. Must be Virtus trained. Celeste Gish: Brandi Ellis: Catholic Focus The Catholic Focus class for adults meet each Sunday. The classes use the Living the Good News curriculum based on the Lectionary readings for that Sunday. The lessons not only aid in understanding of the Scripture but also help to apply Biblical principles to everyday life. Please join us Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45 in the Catholic Focus room in the Faith Formation Building. Remember your Faith Journey doesn t end when you become an adult! Christmas Gifts & Food Baskets The Parish Outreach Assistance Office is taking applications for Christmas gifts for needy children up to the age of 10, and, food baskets for the needy, beginning Wednesday, November 29. Applications can be filled out on Wednesday s between 11-2pm in the office. If you know someone in need please give them this information. If you would like to make a donation to help with the Christmas baskets please put it in the poor box and mark it as Outreach Assistance Christmas Baskets, we are also accepting food donations thru the Christmas holidays to help with the baskets. Virtus Training classes for Protecting God s children for the month of November are being held outside of the Savannah area.
