2 NOTICES P REACHERS. In the course of its 2000 year history, Christianity has not only defined itself in terms of its sacred texts and foundational stories, it has also been shaped by its interaction with the world about it. This provides the motif for this term s visiting preachers: Christianity and. The Revd Canon Rodney Bomford, Vicar of St Giles, Camberwell, and author of The Symmetry of God, Christianity and the Unconscious (January 30, Matins); The Revd Dr Hugh Rayment-Pickard, Vicar of St Clement Notting Dale and St James Norlands, Christianity and Philosophy (February 6, Evensong 6.00 p.m.); Dr Eamon Duffy, Reader in Church History, Fellow of Magdalene College, Christianity and Culture (March 5, Evensong 6.00 p.m.); Professor Graham Stanton, Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity, Christianity and History (March 12, Matins). Sermons at Sunday morning Eucharists will be preached by College clergy. S UNDAY M ORNINGS. Junior and senior, resident and nonresident members of College and their guests are welcome for sherry or soft drinks in E4 after the morning services. I LLUSTRATIONS. The cover and inside illustrations are all taken from Rembrandt s etchings of scenes from the life and ministry of Jesus. They are: Jesus and the Woman of Samaria (cover); the child Jesus disputing in the Temple (January); Jesus preaching the coming of the Kingdom of God (February), and Jesus being questioned by his critics concerning payment of tribute to Caesar (March). S ERVICES are sung by King s College Choir on Tuesdays to Sundays, and on Mondays by the College s mixed-voice choir, King s Voices. Exceptions are listed.
