2 EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD MARCH 27, 2016 Announcements Divine Mercy Sunday April 3 All are welcome to celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy by attending a special Adoration Service including the singing of the Chaplet of Divine Mercy beginning at 3 p.m. in the church on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 3. Pope Francis has declared 2016 to be the Year of Mercy. In the 1930 s, Jesus chose a humble Polish nun, St. Maria Faustina Kowalska, to receive private revelations concerning Divine Mercy that were recorded in her diary. Her diary records 14 occasions when Jesus requested that a Feast of Mercy be observed. Therefore, on May 5, 2000, five days after the canonization of St. Faustina, the Vatican decreed that the Second Sunday of Easter be known as Divine Mercy Sunday. VBX IS BACK! Yesterday, we heard Peter denying, we saw people lying, but today, we hear Peter testifying, and we see people proclaiming He who created the tree of life and allowed Himself to be nailed to the tree, has Risen from the Dead! Christ Jesus is Risen. Traditionally, the early Christians during the Easter season would greet each other with this expression. One would say, Christ is Risen!
