2 Notices Today Missioner Deacon Ish is away leading an All Age Service at Christ Church United Church in Chichester. The Dean writes: I cannot adequately express my appreciation for all that happened last weekend the wonderful Civic Ceremony, Sunday Services, Dean Aubert s announcement that I am to be made a Canon of Honour of Chartres and the astoundingly generous gifts to mark my retirement. I have promised the editor of the Pew Notes that I will write more adequately before my move at the end of the month; but for now, please accept this heartfelt Thank you. Nicholas. Tim Clifford-Hill: We seem to have said so many goodbyes recently but sadly there is one more. Tim Clifford-Hill, one of our alto lay vicars, is moving on and taking up a lay vicar post at Guildford Cathedral. We shall be saying thank you and farewell to Tim at Evensong next Sunday 16th February. If you would like to sign a card or contribute towards a present then please contact Carolyn in the Royal Chantry Offices. Lent Course 2014: This year we will be using the Churches Together in Britain and Ireland Lent Course, Parables and Possessions - On economics and a right relationship with money. Course materials can be downloaded at but photocopies will also be available. The course builds on the fact that the Bible, not least through the parables Jesus told, says more about money, economics and making a living than any other subject. God wants us to be in a right relationship with money and this will aid us in our quest to be in a right relationship with God. Sessions start on Monday 10th March. A registration form giving more information will be distributed with next Sunday s pew notes. Please note that the County Hall car park will be closed on Sunday 16th and 23rd February. Chichester Cathedral Choral Foundation Fund Thank you so much to all who supported the choir concert in December it was a wonderful evening and it was good to see so many members of the congregation, regular supporters and many new faces at the event. The total raised so far as a result of the concert and subsequent donations stands at 62, so we are nearly one eighth of the way towards our target of 500,000 by this December. If you would like more information about how to support the fund, please do pick up one of the leaflets around the cathedral. The next meeting of the Cathedral Fellowship is on Monday February 10th in Vicar's Hall at 2.30pm. Our speaker will be Alan Bradford on "The Life of Dean Walter Hussey." All welcome to join us for the talk. Entry is 1.

3 For those who are new to the Cathedral If you are new to the Cathedral congregation and would like more information about the life of the Cathedral or membership of the Cathedral Roll please give your name and address to a steward or ring the Cathedral office during office hours, Monday to Friday, on Children s Activities on Sundays A crèche and children s group, Pebbles (ages 2-11), meet in the Canons Vestry each Sunday during the 11am Sung Eucharist. If your children would like to join the group please ask a steward for more information. Parents are welcome too! Toy bags are also available during the service. At the Cathedral Annual Roll Meeting on 29th April there will be elections to fill the post of chair and two vacancies on the Cathedral Community Committee and three vacancies on Chichester Deanery Synod (these three people also sit on the Community Committee). The Community Committee provides a formal consultative and advisory link between the Cathedral Community and the Cathedral Chapter, while the Deanery Synod links us in with the parishes in the area. If you are interested in standing for election to any of these vacancies and would like further information please contact the current Chair, John Leslie john.leslie8@btinternet.com, or current Secretary, Richard Ashby richardashby45@btinternet.com Occasional Lecture: Theatres of Conscience Pacifism, Politics & Theatre in a time of war. Thursday 13th February at 6.30 pm in the Cathedral nave. All welcome. The lecturer is Professor Peter Billingham of the University of Winchester who will discuss three touring theatre companies who took theatre to war-torn communities throughout World War II. Information Desk Two volunteers needed to cover Monday/ Wednesday afternoons. For more details please contact Carolyn in the Cathedral Office or Audrey Scott on Financial Giving The Cathedral depends on the generosity of the congregation for the financing of its mission. Please give according to your means and use the Gift Aid envelopes if entitled as a tax payer (please ensure that you sign the Gift Aid envelope). If you would like details of planned giving, contact either Dr Richard Hancock (Stewardship Committee Chairman: ) or Dr Jean Bradley (Stewardship Treasurer: ) who will be pleased to provide any information.
