1 A Correlation of and 2012 to Grades K 3

2 A Correlation of 2012 INTRODUCTION This document demonstrates how Pearson 2012 and 2012 meet the objectives of the Fundations, Grades K-3. Correlation page references are to the Good Habits Teacher s Guides and the Words Their Way Teacher Resource Guide (TRG). Good Habits is a core balanced literacy reading program. The Reading program supports literacy learning through whole-group (Shared) and small-group (Guided) instruction. In Shared Reading lessons, teachers introduce key reading strategies and skills in a whole-group setting and build a common way of talking about books. During Guided Reading, teachers provide instruction targeted to specific developmental levels. The Writing program provides teachers with an opportunity to model for students the practices, skills, and strategies proficient writers use to express themselves and communicate in a variety of genres. Words Their Way (WTW): Word Words Their Way (WTW): Word Study In Action is a word study program for Kindergarten through Grade 5. It is based on the Study for Phonics, Vocabulary and Spelling Instruction professional development text, currently in its 4th edition and published by Allyn Bacon/Merrill. Words Their Way: Word Study In Action is a supplemental product that is designed to be used for 15 to 20 minutes a day and can be used in conjunction with other reading, spelling, and vocabulary programs. 1
