12 JOHN BURLND Teacher/Composer John Burland is a teacher and composer ho has been riting and recording religious music for children and adults for over tenty years. During this time he has ritten and recorded over 200 songs and published fifteen music collections hich are used extensively in school/parish communities across ustralia, Ne Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. In 2008, of John s liturgical compositions, Come O Holy Spirit and Lord By Your Cross ere included in the official World Youth Day liturgies in Sydney, ustralia. John regularly orks ith children, parents and educars in school/ parish communities and educational institutions promoting catechesis and celebration through song, movement, meditative prayer and sry. He is a sought after speaker, orkshop leader and internationally published author in the area of music and catechesis. Over the last fifteen years John has been a regular presenter at the Los ngeles Religious Education Congress and the National Catholic Educational ssociation (NCE) Convention in the United States. Each year John visits more than one hundred Catholic communities in North merica, England and ustralia celebrating our Catholic Faith through the gift of song. For the past tenty-five years John has been orking in Catholic schools throughout the rchdiocese of Sydney holding a variety of positions including Classroom teacher, Religious Education Coordinar, ssistant Principal and cting Principal.
