Praise the Lord in the field and forest, praise the Lord in the city square, praise the Lord anytime and anywhere. Praise the Lord in the wind and sunshine, praise the Lord in the dark of night, praise the Lord in the rain or snow or in the morning light. Praise the Lord in the deepest valley, praise the Lord on the highest hill, praise the Lord; never let your voice be still. Praise the Lord with the crashing cymbal, praise the Lord with the pipe and string, praise the Lord with the joyful songs you sing. Praise the Lord on a weekday morning, praise the Lord on a Sunday noon, praise the Lord by the light of sun or moon. Praise the Lord in the time of sorrow, praise the Lord in the time of joy, praise the Lord every moment: nothing let your praise destroy. Praise the Lord in the peace and quiet, praise the Lord in your work or play, praise the Lord everywhere in every way. Hear him, ye deaf, his praise, ye dumb, your loosened tongues employ; ye blind, behold your Saviour come; and leap, ye lame, for joy! My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim, to spread through all the earth abroad the honours of thy name. Leader: Is the Father with us? People: HE IS! Leader: Is Christ among us? Prayer of Confession: Almighty God, creator of all, you marvelously made us in your image; but we have corrupted ourselves and damaged your likeness by rejecting your love and hurting our neighbours. We have done wrong and neglected to do right. We are sincerely sorry and heartily repent of our sins. Cleanse us and forgive us by the sacrifice of your Son; remake us and lead us by your Spirit, the Comforter. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Amen. First Reading: Romans 8:26-39 (page 800) Reader: A Reading from Paul s letter to the Romans. At the conclusion of the Reading, the reader says, The word of the Lord People: THANKS BE TO GOD Gradual Hymn: Speak, O Lord Speak, O Lord, as we come to You to receive the food of Your holy word. Take Your truth, plant it deep in us; shape and fashion us in Your likeness, that the light of Christ might be seen today in our acts of love and our deeds of faith. Speak, O lord, and fulfill in us all your purposes for Your glory. Teach us, Lord, full obedience, Holy reverence, true humility. Test our thoughts and our attitudes in the radiance of Your purity. Cause our faith to rise, cause our eyes to see Your majestic love and authority. Words of power that can never fail; let their truth prevail over unbelief. Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds; help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us. Truths unchanged from the dawn of time, that will echo down through eternity. The Apostles' Creed: (said together, standing) I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. Sermon: Ken Johnstone Jr. Offertory Hymn 447 (Common Praise) Lord, we hear your word with gladness: you have spoken we rejoice: words of love and life and freedom help us make their truth our choice! Now in holy celebration for your Word we worship you; spoken, written, known in Jesus, ours today to prove anew. May we hear with understanding, by your Spirit taught and led; may the springs of all our being by your living Word be fed; may our hearts accept with meekness all the grace your light makes known; may obedience mark our footsteps till we make each word our own! You have spoken; yours the fullness, ours the wealth of this your Word: debtors, then as living letters, we must make our gospel heard! By your Spirit s power transform us; shed your saving light abroad till our lives by love in action show our world the truth of God! 3 PEOPLE: We, being many, are one body, for we all share in the one bread. Agnus Dei (sung by all) Jesus, Lamb of God, have mercy on us. Jesus, Bearer of our sins, have mercy on us. PEOPLE: AMEN! Recessional Hymn: Sent Forth By God's Blessing Sent forth by God's blessing, our true faith confessing, the people of God from this dwelling take leave. The supper is ended, O, now be extended the fruits of this service in all who believe. The seed of Christ's teaching, receptive souls reaching, shall blossom in action for God and for all. God's grace did invite us. God's love shall unite us to work for the kingdom and answer its call. With praise and thanksgiving to God ever-living, the tasks of our ev'ryday life we will face, our faith ever sharing, in love ever caring, embracing God's children of

4 each tribe and race. With your feast you feed us, with your light now lead us; unite us as one in this life that we share. Then may all the living with praise and thanksgiving give honour to Christ and the name that we bear.
