We come to Church on Easter and are overwhelmed with the beauty and fragrance of flowers. Here is an obvious question: Why flowers? Why do we fill the Church with flowers to celebrate Easter? The answer is far more than Easter takes place in the Spring when the flowers begin to bloom. There is a deeper meaning than that. The flowers signify the beauty of a world renewed. Easter celebrates the beauty of renewed life in Christ. John s Gospel tells us that the world was darkened when Jesus died on that horrible hill. It also tells us that He was raised from the dead and walked out of the tomb into a garden, one so full of flowers that Mary Magdalene initially thought that Jesus was the gardener. The flowers are a symbol of the new life that the Lord offers to those who will commit their lives to Him. We are called to be part of this beauty. We are called to be flowers. All of us here have been given this grace at various times in our lives. We are, after all, a community of saints. And yet, there are very few people here who have always been saintly. Let me emphasize this: If you have just returned to the faith, know that the person sitting near you who has come to Church for years is most likely someone who had to re-evaluate his or her life and return to the Lord. Every one of us belongs here. This is a Church of saints, but these saints are converted sinners. There are few people here who have not at some point in their lives had to turn back to the Lord. We are all on the road to Emmaus, wondering about the Lord, and knowing that we needed to travel to Jerusalem and announce the Good News of a world transformed by the Risen Christ. We can put the past behind us. We give it to the Lord and we trust Him to heal us. We can each be the person God created us to be. Alleluia! we proclaim today along with the Church. Alleluia, Jesus is alive. He is our Savior. He is our redeemer. He is ours. We are renewed by Christ. We are His, flowers in His Garden. Saturday Sunday Monday - Saturday Wednesday Saturday 5:30 p.m. 8:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m.,11:30 a.m., 5:30 p.m. 8:30 a.m. 6:00 p.m. 3:30-5:00 p.m. The pastoral office will be closed Monday, April 2 through Wednesday, April 4 for the Easter holiday so that our staff may enjoy the Easter holiday with their families. We will resume normal business office hours on Thursday, April 6.

Any questions may be directed to Deborah. 5th Grade Mornings with Mom & Dad are NEXT Sunday, April 8 in the dining room during your child s normal Faith Formation time. Parents, plan on joining your child for another fun, faith-filled session but remember these sessions are NOT part of the sacramental preparation process. Also, Mornings with Mom & Dad are meant to give you and your child some quality one-on-one time, so please take advantage of our wonderful nursery for younger siblings. This allows ALL families attending to enjoy the session without disruption. Our final Mornings with Mom & Dad sessions are with the 4th Grade and will be Sunday, April 15. Taste and See the Goodness of the Lord at One Way Café, VBS 2018! VBS is scheduled for Monday-Friday, June from 8:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children ages 3 to 6th Grade. More information to be announced! Teens, this is a great way to finish up those school community service hours. You all do such an awesome job! Early Registration for the 2018/19 Faith Formation and sacramental preparation year will begin after the Easter Break on Sunday, April 15 in the gym. A few things to know prior to registration: Registration paperwork must be completed each year. This is so we have the most current information on file. You must be a registered member of Holy Spirit prior to registering for Faith Formation classes. You will be able to register your own family for Faith Formation; however, so that we can ensure proper completion of registration paperwork, you will not be able to take paperwork for other family members/neighbors. A minimum payment of 50% is due at the time of registration with the remaining balance paid by August 1 or your child WILL NOT be placed on a class roster. We accept cash, check or credit card. For information regarding sacramental preparation requirements, please visit with one of the available Faith Formation staff members.* Because of First Communions/Confirmation on Sunday, April 22, we will be unable to accept FF registrations. *Formation/Youth Ministry attendance will be verified at the time of registration. In order to be eligible for sacramental preparation, satisfactory attendance, per our policy, of six absences or less for the 2017/18 Faith Formation year is required.
