The Sacrament of Baptism is usually celebrated the third Sunday of each month, except in Lent (when we will not celebrate the sacrament until Easter). All Baptisms are scheduled in person at the Rectory. 3 YANA (You Are Not Alone) Our Parish Bereavement Support Group will meet on Wednesday, December 15 from 7:30 p.m. 9 p.m. in the Church Hall. Our Support Group is open to anyone (parishioner or non-parishioner) who has suffered the loss of a friend, relative or a loved one. There is no charge and reservations are not required. All you need is an open mind and an open heart. Let us try to help you through this time of grief. Scriptural Reflections on Stewardship 2nd Sunday of Advent And this is my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value Philippians 1:9-10 Glittery holiday ads can blind us to our stewardship values and distort our needs and wants. It is important that during this season of endless buying we remember that each of us also has the need to give back to God. Second Collection to Help Senior Religious December 11/12 As expenses continue to increase and economic difficulties tighten our income, we appreciate more and more the help of the Retirement Fund, notes a woman religious. 4 The Youth Ministry is currently hosting our annual coat drive, and will continue to collect coats throughout the first two weeks of December. We are asking for gently used coats for infants, babies, children, men and women. Of course new coats are welcomed. Because of you, our wonderful parishioners, we have been able to reach out to the less fortunate. In the past, many have left additional items of clothing. We will only accept coats so please do not leave any other items of clothing at this time. We are so blessed to represent such a wonderful parish and as always thank you for your generosity. ~Denise Roman Meeting Schedule Friday, December 10 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday, January 14 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Everywhere you look you see dates of expiration; on canned items, boxed items, credit cards, etc. If you really think about it, the only expiration date that you will never see is GOD'S LOVE FOR YOU. Please keep GOD in your daily thoughts and keep praying for the safe return of our servicemen and servicewomen. ~Denise Roman Christmas Wafers Traditional Polish Christmas wafers (Oplatki) are available and may be obtained at the Rectory or from the ushers when you attend Mass. They are $4.00 and include instructions regarding their use. Giving Tree Wreath Sale this Weekend! Saturday 12/4, 4-6 p.m. Sunday, 12/5 Following All Masses $20 per Wreath The Giving Tree will remain up through December 12. Please take one of its stars and buy the gift written on that star for a needy baby, child, man or woman. Please wrap the gift, place the star on the outside of the package and place it under the tree. Your spirit of giving to these needy people has always been so wonderful! Thank you for UNdecorating our tree! Holy Day of Obligation We celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday, December 8. The Feast is a Holy Day of Obligation and as such, there is the obligation to attend Mass on the Holy Day. There will be a Vigil Mass the evening before on Tuesday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m. There will also be four Masses on Wednesday, December 8 at 7 and 8 a.m., 12:10 and 7:30 p.m. Please be considerate of others if you have a cold or a case of the sniffles, please refrain from receiving the Blood of Christ during Communion. Religious Education News Congratulations to OLMC s 1 st Grade Catechist and parishioner, Gail Bongiorno who was honored for 25 years of dedication and service as a Religious Educator! She was recognized this fall at the Catechetical Convention held at Paramus Catholic. Gail has made the classroom creative, fun, and full of learning experiences that her students will remember for the rest of their lives.
