4 Page 4 Our Lady of Lourdes, Toledo, November 5, 2017 (Women of Worth) Ladies Night Ladies, bring your girlfriends and join us in the Parish Life Center on Friday, November 10th at 7:00 pm for a viewing of The Shack which takes us through a father s uplifting spiritual journey of faith and forgiveness. ELIZABETH MINISTRY will be presenting our annual Advent Retreat on Dec. 9, 2017 at OUR LADY OF LOURDES, TOLEDO OHIO, in the PARISH LIFE CENTER. The retreat will start with registration at 9am. the retreat will end with a brunch about noon time. Sr, Rosellyn Thiesen, SND will be our retreat master. As always it is a good way to prepare for the advent season leading up to Christmas. Make some new friends and see some familiar faces while enjoying this faith-based movie. Through prayer, conversation, and thoughtful study, we will explore the faith of these women, their responses to Jesus, how their society shaped and challenged their responses, and the meaning of discipleship through their lives. Their greatest need is for diapers in sizes 3, 5 and 6 and Gerber Formula. Also needed are baby wipes, baby shampoo, baby wash, and new or gently used 0-12 month-sized sleepers and onesies (short and long-sleeved) and baby equipment including strollers and high chairs. Prayer for Veterans The Catholic Church in the United States celebrates National Vocation Awareness Week November 5-11, The purpose of this week is to pray that all young people will be open to God s plan in their lives. While young people face many grave challenges in responding to God s call, there are some signs of hope for the future of the Church in the United States. For example, in the past ten years, there has been a steady increase in the number of seminarians studying for the priesthood in the United States. Dave Nowak's Polish Dinner Fundraiser Heavenly Father, on this day, help us remember those who gave of themselves to keep us safe and secure. Enkindle in our consciences a desire to serve those who served their country selflessly. Give us the grace to aid those who have given aid and protection to us and others both here and overseas. Let us never forget the causes for which they fought or the bravery they showed on the battlefield. May we be always be mindful of those who paid the price for our freedom, just as your Son gave his life to free us from the bondage of sin. Amen. OPLH & St. Joan of Arc are co-hosting an ongoing support group for the divorced & separated. Our group is open to all parishes and you do not have to be Catholic to attend. We will be using the video series from The Catholic Divorce Survival Guide as well as inviting speakers such as attorneys, counselors, clergy. etc. Whether you divorced ten plus years ago, ten days ago or are still in the separation stage, the program offers valuable insight to help comfort, counsel & bring clarity to your life. Our group meets year round on the 1 st and 3 rd Thursdays of each month from 7 to 9 pm. We will be meeting at OLPH on the even months in meeting room 2 and at St. Joan of Arc on the odd months in the new community room in the church building. We will begin our meetings with the DVD series followed by discussion, support, and reflections. There is a one time cost of $20.00 towards the viewing of the DVD series and the book that accompanies the Survival Guide. We welcome you to attend.
