Jensen Beach, Florida Parish Sacraments Sacrament of Baptism All families seeking Baptism of a child should be registered and active members of the Parish for at least 6 months prior to the date of the Baptism. One Godparent MUST be a practicing Catholic in good standing and provide a Certificate of Eligibility from his/ her Pastor to serve as a Sponsor for the Sacrament. Parents should schedule and attend the Baptismal Prep Class prior to the baby s delivery. Any child who has reached the age of reason, (7 years of age), not baptized, must complete the RCIC Catechesis Program at the Parish. Sacrament of Confirmation Contact the Parish Office for more information at Ext Adult candidates wishing to be Confirmed contact the Parish Office, Ext.110 for more information. Sacrament of Marriage Weddings are celebrated on Friday at 6:30pm, and Saturday at 11:30am & 1:30pm. Engaged couples should contact the Parish Office a minimum of 9 months before the wedding date to complete their preparation. If an annulment of a previous marriage (Catholic, non-catholic or civil) is required, please contact the Pastoral Assistant, Claudette Horst, at Ext.126 for more information. Sacrament of Reconciliation Children in the Second Grade make their First Reconciliation. For more information, go to Facebook: Treasure Coast March For Life Choir rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM in the Choir Room. All ages are welcome. The Choir leads the sung liturgy at the 10:30 Mass on Sunday mornings. New singers are always welcome. Piano and voice lessons for all ages are now offered at St. Martin de Porres in the Choir Room. 8 CHRIST CHILD PROJECT THANKS YOU! Each year the Christ Child Program starts on October 1st, when the parents of the families who use our Food Pantry and Martins Kids Program, sign up and fill out a form with their children s Christmas wish list. We thank the volunteers at the Pantry, who graciously help us by registering these families. We couldn t run this program without their help. Two weeks before Thanksgiving, your coordinators gather the returned forms. Bev makes labels for the ornaments with the child s first name, age, boy or girl and wish. Lee and Bev hang the ornaments on the beautiful Christmas trees that adorn the vestibules of our Church the weekend after Thanksgiving. Our parish family and seasonal visitors continue to amaze and humble us by your generous giving. You take a paper ornament (sometimes more than one), purchase the child s specific wish, (and sometimes more), wrap it and return it to us. We then sort all the returned gifts into families and bag them to go. This year we had 4 wonderful teens from the upcoming Confirmation Class help us sort the pile of gifts into families. They saved us hours of time and gave up their Sunday afternoon. We loved and appreciated that! The pick up was at the Food Pantry on December 20th. There was the usual excitement, but this year, we had an added surprise for 16 of the children! One of our parishioners, Vinnie Cresho, lost her beloved husband, Ronald Gardinski of Jensen Beach, the end of September. He had decided that when he retired, he would find old bikes and fix them up for the Christ Child Project. He did not want a child to go without a bike at Christmas. In loving memory of her husband s wish, Vinnie purchased 16 beautiful bikes. We went through all the families that had children between ages 6-10, and randomly drew names for these bikes. It was a sight to behold on pick up night, when the parents learned they had gifts, plus a brand new bike for their children! Some cried, some giggled, but all 16 were thrilled to get gifts plus a new bike! The photo to the right shows Vinnie, (holding a picture of her husband on his bike), and the bikes she donated in his name. We again want to thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for making 357 children so happy this Christmas. Our wonderful parish has a heart full of love for children. Our All Knowing God loves you for this. Your coordinators, Lee and Bev Walgrave HAPPY NEW YEAR from St. Martin s Knitting Angels Hats, scarves, prayer shawls, baby layettes, blankets, lapghans, afghans, teddy bears, dolls and household items were lovingly made during the year. Items were donated here in FL and/or sent up north, more than 400 items!!! Come join us on Thursdays, 2-4pm in the Siena Room for friendship and fulfillment.
