Bake Sale to Benefit Homeless Veterans Karina Mendez, as part of her senior capstone at John Dewey Academy of Learning, is holding a Bake Sale fundraiser event to benefit our homeless veterans. Saturday, May 30th,from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and Sunday, May 31st, from 9:00 AM until 12: Noon, outside of our Ss. Peter & Paul Parish Church. There will be all kinds of pastries so come, join us, and Support Our Troops by buying some treats! *Gluten free pastries will also be available.

3 More News and Notes + Confirmation This Sunday, 11:30 AM + Bishop David Ricken will Confirm our Candidates This Sunday ~ the Solemnity of Pentecost At St. Francis Xavier Cathedral ~ Please keep our Confirmandi in Your Prayers This Weekend! Mass Schedule Changes for the Summer As Fr. Tony will be having surgery on June 2nd, and will likely need several weeks to recuperate, we have had to make some changes to our usual schedule. These are as follow: Tues-Fri 8:00 AM Mass (Fr. Patrick will cover; he will also be on call for funerals and emergencies) No 8:00 AM Mass on Saturdays in June, July, & August (St. Mary of the Angels has 7:30 AM Mass on Saturdays) The 8:00 AM Saturday Mass at SsPP will resume the first Saturday in September. All weekend Masses during June will be covered by the Franciscan Friars and the Fathers of Mercy. Fr. Tony is praying for all of us to have a save and enjoyable Summer. Please pray for a speedy recovery for Fr. Tony! Divine Mercy Holy Hour Our Monthly Divine Mercy Holy Hour Is Held the Last Sunday of each Month From 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Church. This special time of prayer and adoration includes prayers for Generational/Family Healing. Parish Life & Evangelization Adult Formation/Discussion Group has been meeting on Thursdays, in the Fr. Schuh Hall, from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Our Final Session, on Thursday, May 28th, will focus on Catholic Renewal Ministries As a New Pentecost 7 Teachings to prepare for a New Life in the Spirit, by Ralph Martin. 4 COME HOLY SPIRIT!!!!! VEN ESPIRITU SANTO! COME! Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost AND THE BIRTH OF THE ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH, FOUNDED BY JESUS CHRIST. Our readings today show us that the Spirit comes to us in different ways. Whether in a driving wind, tongues of fire, or the breath of Christ, the Holy Spirit comes and bestows on us many gifts. As we listen to these readings, let us reflect on how the Holy Spirit comes to each of us, and pray for the grace to use the Spirit's gifts generously and wisely. QUESTION OF THE WEEK How might I facilitate "the spirit leading me into all truth," by undertaking my own continuing education in the faith; through summertime reading of scriptural commentary, or a new publication in liturgy, spirituality, or the Church's social justice teachings? Dear Family, I would like to invite you to consider joining one of our prayer groups, or participating in a lay ministry such as being a Lector/Reader at Mass, and/or volunteering in any of the parish outreach ministries. For men specifically, how about checking out our Knights of Columbus council? We could also use some young people to come forward and help the ushers and the ministers of welcome/greeters. For young men and ladies, please consider joining the Knights and Maidens of the Altar. We also have adult prayer groups that meet monthly. Check out the parish website for all information, and or contact the parish office Monday through Friday. If the Holy Spirit has been guiding you to any of our lay ministries, please pray and make a decision, and let us know what you are interested in. Remember, UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL... VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED TO HELP WITH OUR ANNUAL PARISH PICNIC AND RAFFLE, CALL THE OFFICE FOR CONTACT INFORMATION. VINCENT de PAUL Today as we celebrate Pentecost, the Holy Spirit wants to make us advocates of God s presence; to bring new life to others, especially to those who may not know the love of God in their lives. This month, THROUGH YOUR GIFTS, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to bring the love of God to the poor, by assisting 69 FAMILIES with food, furniture, and household goods, or, by helping them with utility, rent or transportation expenses. Talk about miracles happening right here in our Parish! A special thanks to those who purchased packages of new underwear in our Pair and a Spare collection for families in need. Just think how many young people got a NEW pair of socks, or batman underwear, for the first time in their lives! **Attention Gardeners: The Community Gardens, just down the block on University Avenue, next to the Golden House shelter, has 20 x 20 garden plots available for neighborhood gardeners. The plots have been tilled, and are ready for planting. There is a fee of $30 per plot (gardeners will receive $15 back if they keep the garden in good shape and clean up at the end of the season). A contract must be completed, and deposit made, before any planting is done. TEC, a weekend, lived experience of the Paschal Mystery, is for Catholics who are at least Juniors in High School, young adults, and/or adults interested in working with Youth. St. Thomas More School Open House St. Thomas More Our Catholic Elementary School will have an Open House in conjunction with the ribbon cutting ceremony for their new playground. Memorial Day Reminders The Annual Diocesan Memorial Day Mass and Celebration will take place on Monday, May 25th, at 10:30 AM, at the Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Bishop David Ricken will be the celebrant of the Mass. The Veterans Memorial Service will follow, at the Memorial Wall; over 250 Flags will be displayed. **Ss. Next Sunday, The Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The Dogma of the Holy Trinity is a Central Teaching of the Church. This Teaching, revealed by God, tells us that There is One God, in Three Divine Persons; The Three in One, and One in Three. (CCC #s , ) 5
