The Campaign for Human Development works to break the cycle of poverty through grants to local community-based groups who create jobs, improve education, and strengthen neighborhoods. ALL SOUL S OBSERVANCE November is the month of All Souls. Our All Soul s Observance will be a collaborative event celebrated at Saint Helen s Church next Sunday, November 5 during the 11:30 a.m. Mass. Following the homily, a roll will be read of the members of our collaborative family whose funerals were celebrated at Saint Mary s and Saint Helen s this past year. A light luncheon will follow in Saint Helen s Parish Hall. Please RSVP for the luncheon by calling the Collaborative offices at (781) by October 30. HOLY MOTHERS COLLABORATIVE: HELPING THOSE IN OUR COMMUNITY Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and we are once again asking parishioners to participate in a collaborative effort by purchasing food gift cards for those in need. Helping Those In Our Community envelopes will be available on the weekend of November 4 & 5. Please purchase a grocery gift card (i.e. Shaw s or Stop & Shop) in any amount, place it in the envelope, and return it the weekend of November 11 & 12. Your generosity will greatly benefit our neighbors in the community. World-renowned tenor John McDermott is coming to the Holy Mothers Collaborative! BROWN BAG FOOD PANTRY COLLECTION It s time for Brown Bag Sunday! Please help us as we try to collect food for the Hanover and Norwell Food Pantries. All food donations can be returned to the foyer by the Hospitality Room at Saint Mary s and to the Vestibule at Saint Helen s throughout the week. The Pantries are currently in need of the following items: -Canned fruit -Canned spam/hash -Cereal -Juice boxes -Juice -Soup -Paper products (tissues, toilet paper, paper towels) -Personal products (deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste) -Snacks (crackers, pretzels, chips, etc.) NOVEMBER 19, :30 to 3:30 Saint Mary s Hanover Fun for the whole family! Join the Holy Mothers Collaborative family on November 19 for a FREE, fun-filled day for all ages! There will be activities and games for kids and families, inflatable obstacle courses and bouncy houses, food vendors offering samples of various tailgating classics, raffles, prizes, and more! 4 Holy Mothers Collaborative October 29, 2017 ALTAR SERVER TRAINING Training for students in grades 4 to 12 who desire to serve at Mass will be held on three consecutive Tuesday afternoons from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Tuesday, November 7 (Saint Mary s), Tuesday, November 14 (Saint Helen s), and Tuesday, November 21 (Saint Mary s). Attendance at all three training sessions is required in order to prepare to serve at both churches. In preparation for these sessions, we ask the parents help in reinforcing that serving at the altar is both a privilege and responsibility. Those interested must have a strong commitment to learning and carrying out the ministry. Servers who were recently trained are encouraged to come as a refresher. NEWLY DEDICATED HMC LIBRARY Our new HMC library is located in the hospitality area of Saint Mary's Church just off the back parking lot. The library a free lending library of Catholic and Christian books which are intended to help us improve our knowledge, understand our faith, and enhance our spirituality. There is a selection of books by Pope Francis, Matthew Kelly, and many others that we hope you find interesting and helpful. The selection will be kept current and varied. The procedure to borrow a book is very simple: sign out a book and return it when you are finished no overdue fines. So, take a look, browse, enjoy! Please note that we are not accepting donated books at this time. PREPARATION FOR FULL RECEPTION INTO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH It s all about the Faith! Do you feel called to a fuller life in Christ? Do you have a question about Adult Baptism, Confirmation, or the reception of the Eucharist? Formal group sessions are held on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m (immediately following the 10 a.m. Mass) in the Life House (lower church) at Saint Mary s. Our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) team will answer your questions to guide and help you on your journey. MASS & HEALING SERVICE: TUES, NOV 28 Thank you to Father Augustin Anda, who celebrated our Mass and Healing Service in September. Father Anda's message to us was to pray for ourselves first and take care of ourselves; then we can love others. Listen for the great angels of God who bear the message of God s faithfulness and tell us of His love for us. There will be no Healing Mass in October. MUSEUM OF THE BIBLE OPENING: NOV. 17 Museum of the Bible is an innovative, global, educational institution whose purpose is to invite all people to engage with the Bible. On November 17, 2017, Museum of the Bible, which aims to be the most technologically advanced museum in the world, will open its 430,000-square-foot nonprofit museum just three blocks from the Capitol in Washington, D.C. A digital fly-through of the Museum is viewable and a 360-degree hardhat tour of the museum is available at MuseumOfTheBible.org.
