Blessed are the poor in spirit: "Not even God can put anything in a heart that is already full" --Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.... they who mourn: "They who weep for their own sins are blessed" --St. Thomas Aquinas.... the meek: "There is nothing as strong as true meekness; there is nothing as gentle as true strength" --St. Francis de Sales.... they who hunger and thirst for righteousness: "First of all, we must be just towards God. Let this fact be firmly impressed in our hearts, so that it shows in our behavior, for it is the touchstone of the true 'hunger and thirst for justice'" --St. Josemaría Escrivá.... the merciful: "If a soul does not exercise mercy in one way or another, it will not obtain [Christ's] mercy on the Day of Judgment" --St. Faustina Kowalska.... the clean of heart: "The pure soul is a beautiful rose, and the Three Divine Persons descend from Heaven to inhale its fragrance" --St. John Vianney.... the peacemakers: "Peace is not just the absence of war... Registration for all other classes is ongoing through the year. Why are there so many different postures at Mass? Is there a purpose for every gesture that we do? 11/ "Lock-in: The Spirit Awakens" (6pm Friday to 8am Saturday) - We are hosting a lock-in in the Parish Center from 6pm Friday to 8am Saturday morning. We will host a night of activities, games, prayer, a bonfire, and praise and worship. I hope you all can join us for this event! 11/21 - St. Vincent de Paul Project (10am to 2pm) - We will meet at 10 am in the South Lot at St. Bernard s to caravan to a St. Vincent de Paul Center. Men s Ministry Service Project Andre House clothes sorting: The Men s Ministry needs 10 volunteers ages 12 and older to assist at Andre House, 213 S. 11th Ave., Phoenix, AZ Date: November 14th Saturday Time: 12-3:30 (meet at St. Bernard s North parking lot by 12 noon and caravan to Andre House) Work: Volunteers will sort through the donations received, and with guidance, determine what should be kept and what should be passed along to another organization. Dress: Casual, comfortable. Jeans/shorts, tennis shoes, sweater/sweatshirt/t-shirt. Clothing may get dirty! Closed-toed shoes, required. Bring water and snack if desired. This holy year of mercy begins December 8th on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I am convinced that the whole Church will find in this Jubilee the joy needed to rediscover and make fruitful the mercy of God, with which all of us are called to give consolation to every man and woman of our time.
