THE ORDER for a Requiem Mass x As Used in the Ordinariates Established under the Apostolic Constitution Anglicanorum Ctibus Saint Gregory the Great Church A Community of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter
VT VNVM SINT: THAT THEY MIGHT BE ONE WELCOME to Saint Gregory the Great, a Roman Catholic community of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter. The Ordinariate was established by Pope Benedict xvi in January, 2012 as a means by which Episcopalian and Anglican Christians wishing to reunite themselves to the Universal Catholic Church might do so, bringing the riches of the Anglican Patrimony with them; the form of our Mass is based on the Eucharistic liturgy in the Book of Common Prayer. f If you are a Roman Catholic, you are heartily encouraged to receive Communion if in a state of Grace. Because Roman Catholics believe the Sacrament of the Eucharist is the True Body of Christ not only in the Consecrated Elements, but also in the Unity of His people, Fellow-Christians of churches with whom we are not yet fully united are not admitted to Holy Communion; we welcome them and pray our common baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit in this Eucharist will draw us closer and help dispel the sad divisions that separate us. We also welcome Non-Christians, and although we cannot admit them to Holy Communion ask them to o^er their prayers for the peace and unity of the human family. All Non-Catholics are invited to receive a Blessing during Communion: please signify this desire by crossing your arms over your breast when at the altar rail. f Please leave this Missal for the use of others. Thank You And May God Bless You.

Wherefore I beg Blessed Mary ever-virgin, Blessed Michael the Archangel, Blessed John the Baptist, the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, all the Saints, and you, my brethren, to pray for me to the Lord our God. 8 The Liturgy of the Eucharist [The Altar and O^erings are prepared] h.. Stand and Sing O ertory Chant O Lord Jesus Christ, King of Maesty, deliver the souls of all the faithful departed from the hand of hell; and from the pit of destruction : deliver them from the lion s mouth; that the grave devour them not; that they go not down to the realms of darkness. But let Michæl, the holy standard-bearer, make speed to restore them to the brightness of glory : which thou promisedst in ages past to Abraham and his seed. Sacrifice and prayer do we o^er unto thee, O Lord : do thou accept them for the souls departed, in whose memory we make this oblation. And grant them Lord, to pass from death unto life : which thou promisedst in ages past unto Abraham and his seed. O ertory Hymn ( please refer to separate insert) Pray, brethren, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable unto God, the Father almighty. May the Lord accept the sacrifice at thy hands, for the praise and glory of his Name, for our good and the good of all his holy Church. [Here is sung the Prayer Over the O^erings appointed]
& # # Ho & # # & # # The Eucharistic Prayer The Lord be with you. And with thy spirit. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up unto the Lord. Let us give thanks unto the Lord our God. It is meet and right so to do. it is very meet, right, and our bounden duty, that we should at all times, and in all places, give thanks unto thee, O Lord, holy Father, almighty, everlasting God, through Jesus Christ our Lord; who rose victorious from the dead, and doth comfort us with the blessed hope of everlasting life; for to thy faithful people, O Lord, life is changed, not ended; and when our mortal body doth lie in death, there is prepared for us a dwelling place eternal in the heavens. Therefore with Angels and Archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify thy glorious Name; evermore praising thee, and saying, Sanctus Missa de Sancta Maria Magdalena Ho Lord God - LY, Ho - of - w Hosts:. 11 her throughout the whole world; together with thy servant Francis our Pope, and Je^rey, our Ordinary, and all the faithful guardians of the catholic and apostolic faith. L Remember, O Lord, thy servants and hand-maids and all who here around us stand, whose faith is known unto thee and their steadfastness manifest, on whose behalf we o^er unto thee, or who themselves o^er unto thee, this sacrifice of praise; for themselves, and for all who are theirs; for the redemption of their souls, for the hope of their health and well-being; and who o^er their prayers unto thee, the eternal God, the living and the true. K United in one communion, we venerate the memory, first of the glorious ever-virgin Mary, Mother of our God and Lord Jesus Christ; of Joseph her spouse; as also of thy blessed Apostles and Martyrs, Peter and Paul, Andrew, James, John, Thomas, James, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Simon and Thaddæus: Linus, Cletus, Clement, Xystus, Cornelius, Cyprian, Lawrence, Chrysogonus, John and Paul, Cosmas and Damian, and of all thy Saints; grant that by their merits and prayers we may in all things be defended with the help of thy protection. L We beseech thee then, O Lord, graciously to accept this oblation from us thy servants, and from thy whole family; order thou our days in thy peace, and bid us to be delivered from eternal damnation, and to be numbered in the fold of thine elect. K Vouchsafe, O God, we beseech thee, in all things to make this oblation blessed,
approved and accepted, a perfect and worthy o^ering; that it may become for us the Body and Blood of thy dearly beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. who the day before he su^ered, took bread into his holy and venerable hands, and with eyes lifted up to heaven, unto thee, God, his almighty Father, giving thanks to thee, he blessed, broke and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take this, all of you, and eat of it : For This is my Body, which will be given up for you. Likewise, after supper, taking also this goodly chalice into his holy and venerable hands, again giving thanks to thee, he blessed, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take this, all of you, and drink from it : For This is the chalice of my Blood, The Blood of the new and eternal covenant, which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me. The Mystery of faith: We proclaim thy Death, O Lord, and profess thy Resurrection until thou come again.
wherefore, O Lord, we thy servants, and thy holy people also, remembering the blessed passion of the same Christ thy Son our Lord, as also his resurrection from the dead, and his glorious ascension into heaven; do o^er unto thine excellent maesty of thine own gifts and bounty, the pure victim, the holy victim, the immaculate victim, the holy Bread of eternal life, and the Chalice of everlasting salvation. L Vouchsafe to look upon them, with a merciful and pleasant countenance; and to accept them, even as thou didst vouchsafe to accept the gifts of thy servant Abel the righteous, and the sacri-fice of our patriarch Abraham; and the holy sacrifice, the immaculate victim, which thy high priest Melchisedech o^ered unto thee. K We humbly beseech thee, Almighty God, command these o^erings to be brought by the hands of thy holy Angel to thine altar on high, in sight of thy divine maesty; that all we who at this partaking of the altar shall receive the most sacred Body and Blood of thy Son, may be fulfilled with all heavenly $ benediction and grace. K Remember also, O Lord, thy servants and handmaids [n; nn] who have gone before us sealed with the seal of faith, and who sleep the sleep of peace. To them, O Lord, and to all that rest in Christ, we beseech thee to grant the abode of refreshing, of light, and of peace. L To us sinners also, thy servants, who hope in the multitude of thy mercies, vouchsafe to grant some
