2 Website: The Epiphany of the Lord Home Works relies on prayers, funding and volunteers to repair homes. $ 2,500 is the average amount of out-of-pocket expenses, funds from the bank account, which are spent on a home. This does not include in-kind donations such as volunteer labor or donated services for electrical tasks, received from Cashion Electricians or for plumbing tasks, received from Superior Plumbing. Home Works received the Good Angel Award from the South Carolina Secretary of State to acknowledge that 98 cents of every dollar is spent on Program Expenses - paint, shingles, lumber, etc. Home Works 2013 Budget exceeds $ 500,000 and currently there is a deficient. Funds are needed for: > Roofing, $ 2,555 > Ramp, $ 1,250 > Bathroom, $ 874 > Painting, $ 566 Donations of $ 50 or $ 5,000 or more provide the setting for youth and adult volunteers to not only repair a home but more importantly convey a message of hope. Our program will be the Neighborhood House. Please join us for a wonderful evening of fun and fellowship. Refreshments start at 6:45 with the meeting beginning at 7:00. All women of the parish are welcome. Coastal Catholic Charities Coastal Catholic Charities would like to express our gratitude for all of you who have, and continue to, support our organization! 4 Website: The Epiphany of the Lord We are excited to welcome back our students tomorrow January 6th, to begin the 3rd quarter at The Charleston Catholic School. For the High School B16s, the last meeting day of this year will be December 15th and the big pilgrimage that Carlos has been planning. We will resume on January 12. We will begin current student enrollment on January 21, To schedule a tour of CCS, please call Jeannie Fanjoy at For the Middle School B16s, the last meeting day will be December 18. We will resume January 15. 1) For all Confirmation students: there will be an optional class day on January 5! If you still need Service Hours, please come! This will be one of your last chances to get them completed in time for Confirmation! 2) There WILL be School of Christian Formation class on January 19. The original calendar had it as a no class day, but it has been decided that we WILL have class on that day. Nineteenth-century minister Charles Kingsley explained how these key words tell the meaning of Jesus birth and give meaning to our lives. Glory. That little babe, lying in the manger among the cattle, was showing the very highest glory of the great God who had made heaven and earth. To stoop, to condescend, to have mercy, to forgive that is the highest glory of God. Peace. God is not selfish. He sacrificed himself for us. Sacrifice yourselves then for each other! Give up your own pride, your own selfishness, your own interest for each other, and you will be all at peace. Good will. God loves you, and he wills to raise you out of this selfish, quarrelsome life of sin, into a loving, brotherly, peaceful life of righteousness. That babe in the manger at Bethlehem is a sign to you and me that God will freely give us that spirit of love if we ask for it. This includes use of the Church for Baptisms, Weddings, and other sacramental events, and includes parishioner status in parochial schools. ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP is determined by four things: 1. Being properly registered in the parish for a sufficient period of time. 2. Faithful attendance at Mass on Sundays and Holy Days. 3. Use of the envelope system in regular support of the parish. 4. Being active in at least one parish program, ministry, or organization. SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE Either the bride or the groom must be a practicing Catholic and registered at the Cathedral for at least twelve months before scheduling a wedding date and beginning the six months marriage preparation. The bride/groom must be an active parishioner, regularly attending Mass on Sundays and holydays of obligation, and use of the envelope system in regular support of the parish.
