3 Structure of the Church Established by Saint Andrew the First- Called Apostle. Apostolic succession of Bishops for approximately 2000 years. Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople. 300 Million Orthodox world wide.

4 Clergy Laity The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America makes administrative and financial decisions at the Congress - voted on by parish delegates. Each parish can send 4 voting delegates (1 priest and 3 lay people) The Congress meets every two years. Archdiocesan Council acts between Congresses.

5 Allocation System Clergy Laity Congress voted this new formula in 2006 to fund the Archdiocese, Metropolises and Ministries, as well as Missions and Outreach. The allocation system reflects a percentage of ongoing parish operating expense, after allowable deductions, and levels the playing field across the nation and the Metropolis. The higher or lower expenses, allocation follows.

9 Back to Metropolises This amount is used to fund the eight Metropolis and the Archdiocesan District for staff salaries, insurance as well as Metropolis Ministries and Operations The Boston Metropolis had 5 positions funded including the Metropolitan and Chancellor from their portion.
