3 Last Sunday morning when I got up, I had a text message from Fr. Sam in Maine, saying he had decided to come to Hudson that afternoon and spend a couple of days. I was excited to see him! Sure enough he arrived at 4:30 in the afternoon and we had a great visit that evening. As I write this, it is Monday morning and he is sleeping soundly. Abby was also happy to see him although she had only met him twice before. When I woke up, she was sleeping outside his bedroom door!! Not her usual nighttime place. I hope he gets some rest and relaxation while he is here, before he returns to his five church collaborative in snowy Maine! Speaking of collaboratives, we had a follow up meeting of the joint parish councils. It was an evening of getting to know one another and listening to concerns and questions about the process. I felt there was a bond beginning to form as we shared our feelings with one another. We have scheduled our next get together as a pot luck supper at St. Matthias Church on May 6th. Please keep us all in your prayers. This weekend, we celebrate the Fifth Sunday of Lent. The scripture readings are focused on God s promise of resurrection and the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. All this, of course, is the foretaste of the celebration of Jesus own Resurrection from the dead in a couple of weeks in Easter. During the rest of Lent may we rest in the knowledge that God does take care of us, not just in life, but through death and into a new life eternally. HUDSON, MA Fr. Ron s Ramblings No Domingo passádo de manhã cêdo quando me levantei tinha uma mensagem do padre Sam dizendo que decidiu vir a Hudson naquela tarde para me visitar e ficar cá alguns dias. Fiquei muito contente que ia vê -lo. Foi certo como ele disse, chegou as 4:30 da tarde. Foi um prazer passer com ele aquela tarde. Ao escrever esta carta será Segunda-feira de manhã cêdo e ele ainda está dormindo. A Abby tambem ficou contente em ver o padre Sam embora ele só o viu duas vezes antes. Quando me levantei a Abby estava dormindo no lado de fóra do quarto do padre Sam e não é o seu lugar normal de dormir. Espero que o padre Sam descance e relaxe bastante enquato esta cá, antes de retornar as suas 5 igrejas colaborativas na neve de Maine. Falando em colaborativas, tivemos outra reunião do concilio das paróquias únidas. Foi uma tarde para nos conhecer-mos uns aos outros e escutar as preocupaçõens e perguntas a respeito do processo. Eu senti que se estava formado um ambiente de amizade entre todos enquanto compartia-mos os nossos sentimentos e ideias entre nós. Já marcamos a nossa próxima reunião com o nome de (o tacho da sopa da sorte) na paroquia de São Matias no dia 6 de Maio.. Por favor manteem-nos nas vóssas oraçõens. Neste fim de semana celebramos o quinto Domingo da Quaresma. As leituras das escrituras são baseadas na promessa de Deus para a ressurreição na história de Jesus ter ressuscitado Lázaro da morte. Isto certamente é o que saboreamos na celebração da própria ressurreição de Jesus em algumas semanas na Páscoa. 4 Religious Education Gr K-5 Sunday, April 13 is Palm Sunday and our Rice Bowls will be collected on that day! Please bring them to church with you and place in the basket near the front doors. At each Mass, we are hoping for a great response of adults to help carry the heavy offertory to the front of the altar for consecration and then into the sacristy! These funds were generously established in memory of members of our parish to annually provide high school scholarships for children of St. Michael Parish, who are attending or plan to attend a Catholic High School. The students should be an active member at St. Michael Parish and accepted to a 4 year Catholic High School. Thank you. Notes from Music Ministry Weekly Choir Rehearsal Reminder! New Members Always Welcome! Portuguese choir rehearsals: Thursdays at 5:30pm in the lower Chapel. Adult choir rehearsals: Thursdays at 6:00pm in the upper Church. Grace Notes! Youth Choir update by Lexi Hire, Volunteer Youth Choir Coordinator: The newly established choir of grades 6-12 has gotten underway with several youths lending their voices in songs of worship in preparation of the Easter Mass celebration! The next rehearsal date is Saturday, April 12 th at 1:00pm in the lower church. As mentioned at last weekend masses, all children of the parish grades K-5 are invited to participate in a worship hymn to be sung on Easter Morning at the 10:30am Mass. Rehearsals have begun and will be every Saturday going forward at 1:00pm in the lower church. Ladies Sodality Ministry will be meeting on Monday, April 21 st at 12:00pm in the Parish Center. Thank you to all our parishioners who made donations to last year s Catholic Appeal. Last year, our goal was $36, and our parishioners donated $37,833.00, surpassing our goal! Which meant no parish funds were needed to be sent to the diocese to fulfill our obligation. This year our goal is $37, As of Monday March 31, $13,920 has been pledged by our parishioners. If you haven t made your pledge yet, please consider doing so to help us reach our goal again this year? News from St. Michael Cemetery Spring cleanup has begun on the grounds of St. Michael Cemetery! Please be sure to remove all personal winter decorations, flowers, etc before Easter Sunday 4/20! Anything remaining will be discarded. Also, keep in mind, borders are never allowed on the grounds and will be removed. APRIL 6, PARISH NURSE APRIL IS ORGAN DONOR AWARENESS MONTH Did You Know? *There are currently over 110,000 people waiting for an organ donation. *The largest group waiting is from years of age. *An average of 18 people die each day while on the waiting list for an organ donation. *Organs and tissues from a single non-living donor can be used to benefit more than 50 people. *Living donors can donate a kidney and parts of their liver, lung, pancreas, or intestine. *Living donors can be evaluated to help a friend, family member or even donate anonymously to patients on the wait list. It Starts With You! Register to be an organ donor. Talk about your decision with family members and friends. Encourage others to do so. Give my sight to the man who has never seen a sunrise, a baby s face or the love in the eyes of a woman. Give my heart to a person whose own heart has caused nothing but endless days of pain. Give my blood to the teenager who was pulled from the wreckage of his car, so that he might live to see his grandchildren play. Give my kidneys to the one who depends on a machine to exist from week to week. Take my bones, every muscle, every fiber and nerve in my body and find a way to make a crippled child walk. Take my cells, if necessary, and let them grow so that someday a speechless boy will shout at the crack of a bat and a deaf girl will hear the sound of rain against her window. Burn what is left of me and scatter the ashes to the winds to help the flowers grow. Give my sins to the devil. Give my soul to God. Taken from an essay titled To Remember Me by Robert N. 6 Sunday Throughout theweek: FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT Sharing the Gospel Instead of telling people he was the Savior, Jesus showed them. By raising Lazarus from the dead, Jesus sent a message loud and clear. Jesus was the Savior they had all been waiting for. He was filled with God's love and power, and many people believed in him. Prayer Thank you for showing me that you are my Savior, Jesus. Something to Draw Draw a picture of Lazarus wrapped up like a mummy, walking to Jesus.
