For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. John 3:16-17 Cambridge, Massachusetts ANOINTING OF THE SICK SACRAMENT The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is offered after the 9:00am Mass on the First Saturday of each month. Those who are facing surgeries or very serious health issues can see the priest after the Mass. The Anointing will take place near the Statue of Mary at the front left of the Church. The oils are reserved in the Olea Sancta Repository (Holy Oils) near the Baptismal Font. Family and friends are most welcome to be present together during the Anointing. LIVE THE LITURGY INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK Today's celebration of the Most Holy Trinity shows us how awesome and huge God really is! He is not a judgmental and aloof king reigning in heaven but a loving and compassionate God who is intimately involved with his children and all his creation. God as Father reveals the immensity of God's presence as seen in the wonder of creation: the stars and seas, the mountains and hills, and all the glory that surrounds us. Jesus reveals the compassionate and gentle face of God, a God of mercy who desires nothing more than for his children to seek and come to him. God the Holy Spirit reminds us that God is the very life force of our existence, without whom we would have no breath and the universe would have no life. RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA) The parish is always ready to receive adults into the process of preparation for baptism or reception into Full Communion with the Roman Catholic Church. Please call (617) for information. PARISH FOOD PANTRY Non-perishable food is received before every Mass for the pantry, which is open Saturdays from 11:00am to 11:30am. CHURCH ACCESS FOR THE DISABLED Take elevator from the Parish Center Lobby at 29 Mount Auburn Street. Restrooms, handicapped accessible, are located on 1 st & 2 nd floors of the Parish Center. 3 Dear Friends, THE MOST HOLY TRINITY In spite of the dreary weather, we ve had quite a sparkling week! Professor Chip Piatti s tour of the Murals of St. Paul s Church was very well attended and we also had a good crowd for my talk on The Holy Spirit: Giver of Life. We are blessed to have so much interest in the intellectual and spiritual formation opportunities available at St. Paul s. I am very happy to welcome to St. Paul s Mr. Mark Olejnik, a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Boston. Mark will not only be with us throughout the summer, but also next summer and for several hours each week during the academic term. We are delighted to be able to be part of his formation for priestly service, and I know you will welcome him warmly. Over these past days, we have also had a St. Paul Choir School Parent Guild Meeting, a Parish Council Meeting, a Choir School Advisory Board meeting, a Finance Committee Meeting, a Parish Town Hall Meeting and a think tank group which gathered to explore the best way forward to address our struggling parish finances. Updates from all these discussions will be available soon. If you are away for part of the summer, please remember to support the parish through your prayers and also weekly giving through the envelope or electronic giving process! Congratulations to our 8 th grade students at the Choir School. They were honored on Class Night and at Graduation. We are grateful to them for their service throughout their years at St. Paul s and also to their parents, without whom their involvement would not be possible. The boys are going on to wonderful High Schools, and we promise our prayers. We also welcomed the students and parents who will be joining the choir school community in the fall, which is always an exciting moment. Two news items about leadership at the Choir School: the Parents Guild elected Mr. Steve Andaloro as Parent Guild President, a position that supports the Choir School in many ways. It also impacts the parish, as the Guild serves the parish significantly, especially as related to the 11:00am Mass and also all concerts and other special events. Thanks to Geoffrey Why and company who served so well these past years. On a sadder note, Headmaster Dr. Michael Lescault has decided that he will not return to the school next year because of family and personal matters. Michael is a quality man of deep faith and love for the school and Catholic education. We are so grateful for his generous leadership these past years and promise him our prayers. Please keep the school in your prayers as we look ahead to the important decisions to be made as we face a future full of continued hope and success. This is the final weekend that our choirs will be singing at Masses until September. Our 5:00pm Saturday St. Paul s Choir School Alumni Choir, the 9:30am Parish Choir and the 11:00am Choir of Boys and Men help us to pray in extraordinary ways. Each helps to sustain the reputation of our parish as being a model and center of some of the best liturgical music in the country and beyond. We pray that they have good summer breaks and we look forward to the glorious music yet unsung. God bless! Fr. Kelly GOING AWAY THIS SUMMER? Although more relaxed, the good work of proclaiming Jesus Christ very much continues here the sacraments are celebrated, outreach continues, visitors are welcomed and yes, the regular expenses continue. Your weekly offertory contribution is of great help during the summer while you are away you can set a recurring gift through our on-line giving portal on the parish web site or by using the Giving Kiosk in the vestibule of the church. PAUL S Beginning on Saturday, July 1, the Summer Chapel in the air conditioned DiGiovanni Hall will be open through August 27. All weekday Masses as well as the Saturday 9:00am, 5:00pm Vigil and the Sunday 7:30am Masses will be celebrated in DiGiovanni Hall. Please Note that Sunday 9:30am and 11:00am Masses will be celebrated in the church. PARISH SUPPORT AND FINANCES Our offertory this weekend, June 10/11 has one collection, our regular parish offertory. Thank you for your generosity. 4 CHECK OUT WHAT S HAPPENING AT ST. PAUL S MASS INTENTIONS AT ST. PAUL S Mass Intentions for daily and weekend Masses are being accepted. Masses may be offered to remember those who have died, for those who are ill, as well as in thanksgiving for a birthday, anniversary or for a special intention. Please contact the Parish Office during the week for details and to reserve a particular Mass. JUNE 11, 2017 SECOND COLLECTION: JUNE 24 AND 25, 2017 HOLY FATHER PETER S PENCE The second collection the weekend of June 24 and 25 supports the Holy Father in providing emergency assistance to suffering people throughout the world. Contributions to the Peter s Pence Collection are given directly by the Holy Father to individuals who are suffering from immediate emergencies that are the result of war, oppression, and natural disasters. Please visit for more information. FOOD PANTRY The food pantry continues to benefit from the generosity of our parishioners. Currently, the items that we could use the most are crackers (plain Ritz crackers and Goldfish are very popular but all types are in demand), mayonnaise, lowfat shelf milk (Parmalat), powdered drink mixes (lemonade, etc), canned salmon, canned chicken, peanuts or other nuts, hazelnut spread, and flavored tea. Most of these items are a little to expensive for individuals and families with a limited income but can be quite inexpensive if you catch a sale. We have several guests who need to watch sugar or sodium so please choose healthier options when possible. Although it is often intuitive to want to buy several boxes of pasta or cans of beans, we have actually found that some guests donate unwanted canned goods from other food pantries to us. Therefore, we try to stock items that are culturally appropriate and useful rather than handing people a bag of food that they won't eat. BADALIYA AND PEACE INSTITUTE The Badaliya and Peace Islands Institute Interfaith prayer gathering will meet Sunday, June 18from 3:00pm - 4:30pm in St. Paul Parish Center Chapel. The device offers parishioners, and visitors, a means by which to make offertory donations via credit card. All donations made through the kiosk are credited to parishioner accounts. Check it out today! SANCTUARY LAMP The Sanctuary Lamp, which burns for eight days and nights at the tabernacle, symbolizes the presence of Christ and marks the boundaries of holy space in the Church.
