1 Connect. Inspire. Serve. Welcome to Worship at Memorial Presbyterian Church! We are delighted you have chosen to worship at Memorial Presbyterian Church. Our hope is that every person who enters Memorial will CONNECT with God and the community of faith, be INSPIRED to a life of discipleship and spiritual growth, and discover ways to SERVE our neighbors near and far. Please join us for coffee and conversation immediately following the worship service today. Friendship Pad: We ask that all worshipers sign the Ritual of Friendship pad, located on the center aisle side of the pew. Sign your name, address and phone number, and pass it along the pew and then back again so that we can get to know each other and greet each other by name. Accessibility at MPC: The sanctuary is equipped with a Hearing Loop system that allows people to receive the sound from the church s audio system in their own hearing aids. Large-size bulletins and hymnals are also available from the ushers. Please contact an usher if you have any questions on accessibility issues. Children of all ages are welcome in the worship service. Nursery care is provided for children from birth to 3 years of age. Pagers are given to parents in the event that communication is necessary. In addition, a Children s Table is located by the entry if you wish to take your child from the sanctuary, yet be able to hear and see the service. Kinderchurch is an age-appropriate worship experience provided for children ages 3 through Grade 2 throughout the academic year. Children attend worship with their parents for about 15 minutes, and then move to the Kinderchurch room as a group. It is not held on Sundays when communion is served, so that children will be able to experience communion with their parents. Communion: The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has an Open Table. All who all who hold Jesus as their Lord and Savior are invited to the table. Children may take communion with parent s consent. Communion is served on the first Sunday of every month, and at other designated services. 2 Order of Worship Easter Sunday Ten O'clock A.M. April 1, 2018 Those who are able are invited to stand. Gathering Around the Word THOUGHT FOR REFLECTION The Easter season is a time of hope. There still is fear, there still is a painful awareness of sinfulness, but there also is light breaking through. Something new is happening, something that goes beyond the changing moods of our life. We can be joyful or sad, optimistic or pessimistic, tranquil or angry, but the solid stream of God s presence moves deeper than the small waves of our minds and hearts. Easter brings the awareness that God is present even when his presence is not directly noticed. Easter brings the good news that, although things seem to get worse in the world, the Evil One has already been overcome. Easter allows us to affirm that although God seems very distant and although we remain preoccupied with many little things, our Lord walks with us on the road and keeps explaining the Scriptures to us. The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has an Open Table. All who hold Jesus as their Lord and Savior are invited to the table. This evening, we come forward to receive the Supper by Intinction, taking a piece of bread and dipping it into the juice before eating. For those with gluten sensitivity, there are gluten-free wafers on the tray held by the central server. Children may commune with parent s consent.
