Robert E. Stevens, Jr. We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made

6 For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. The Prayers of the People Please Stand or Kneel Perfect Light of revelation, as you shone in the life of Jesus, whose epiphany we celebrate, so shine in us and through us, that we may become beacons of truth and compassion, enlightening all creation with deeds of justice and mercy. O God, you spoke your word and revealed your good news in Jesus, the Christ. Fill all creation with that word again. God of mercy and grace, many are those who hunger for food and love; who endure prejudice and intolerance; who suffer from warfare and violence. Many are the children who are neglected and abused. We pray for Barack, our president; and Maggie, Paul, and Charles, our governors. May they, with us, see a world full of longing. May they, with us, seek to find a way out of its confusion, to discover true and lasting peace. O God, you spoke your word and revealed your good news in Jesus, the Christ. Fill all creation with that word again

7 We pray for the Church, for Justin, the Archbishop of Canterbury; for Katharine, our Presiding Bishop; for Robert, our Bishop; for Rob and Anne our clergy; for the staff, wardens, vestry, and our entire community. O God, you are the one who makes extravagant promises and we relish your fidelity and presence. Keep us faithful when we find your promise coming in the midst of a deep call to obedience. You are the God who calls people like us, and the long list of those before us, who trusted enough to keep the call. We give you thanks that you are a calling God, always calling to new, and often challenging, places. Fill us with your grace and mercy so we may be counted with those who believe your promises and respond to your call. O God, you spoke your word and revealed your good news in Jesus, the Christ. Fill all creation with that word again. O God of beginnings and endings, we offer thanksgiving for our recently concluded Annual Meeting. We thank you for the abundance of gifts given within this act of service to the community. We are grateful for the gifts of fellowship and understanding, for mutual respect and shared vision. We are grateful for the gifts of perseverance and insight into the common concerns we share. Most of all, as we move forward, may your will become our will. O God, you spoke your word and revealed your good news in Jesus, the Christ. Fill all creation with that word again. In the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the Diocese of Long Island. In the Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, we pray for St James' Church, Laconia. We pray for any and all who are in need, both in this community, and across the world. Presider Holy God, you gather the whole universe into your radiant presence and continually reveal your Son as our Savior. Bring healing to all wounds, make whole all that is broken, speak truth to all illusion, and shed light in every darkness, that all creation will see your glory and know your Christ. Amen. Confession of Sin BCP. 360 The Celebrant says Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor. Silence may be kept. Minister and People Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen. Then the Celebrant continues We give thanks to you, O God, for the goodness and love which you have made known to us in creation; in the calling of Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus, your Son. For in these last days you sent him to be incarnate from the Virgin Mary, to be the Savior and Redeemer of the world. In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life. 11 Memorial Acclamation The Hymnal 1982 The Celebrant continues And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, O Lord of all; presenting to you, from your creation, this bread and this wine. We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and his Blood of the new Covenant. Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we may be acceptable through him, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, put all things in subjection under your Christ, and bring us to that heavenly country where, with all your saints, we may enter the everlasting heritage of your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn of all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation. 14 Announcements January 25, 2015 The Common Cents Economy Shop is seeking donations of jewelry, houseware items, recent books and winter clothes. Thank you for your continued support. Here is a way to support Common Table and to enjoy many tasty dishes. American Culinary Federation's Great Chef's Tasting Party Sunday, January 25 Doors open at 5:00 pm The Regatta Room, Rt. 236 in Eliot, Me. For every ticket sold by us, Common Table receives money towards the free lunch program. Last year Common Table received $1000. Scholarship money is also given to culinary students. If you would like to join the fun, we have tickets. They are $30. each, it's for a good cause and the food seems unlimited with different chefs offering meat, veggies, appetizers, desserts and a cash bar. There are also door prizes, a raffle and a live auction featuring various chefs who will prepare a meal in your home. Checks are made out to the ACF Piscataqua Chapter. 15 There's lots of room for you to join us for Adult Formation in 2015 as we continue with The Year of the Bible Exploring the Great Story, Probing the Great Questions We invite you to begin the New Year by choosing one - or more - of our offerings as we read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest God s Holy Word together. Every gathering is always open to all whenever you are able to come. Sunday Morning Forum 9:00 9:45 Gospel Chat Wednesday Mornings 10:30 12:00 o We use a resource titled BibleWorkbench. One of the Sunday lessons is studied each week, and we conclude with Noonday Prayer. Wednesday Evenings 6:00 8:00 - St. John's Night o We eat a simple meal from 6:00-6:30, learn from 6:30-7:45, and pray from 7:45-8:00. Our learning continues with an adaptation of the Bible titled The Story. The Story is written in modern, everyday English and its linear narrative describes God acting in human history. God s love for us is its central theme.
