Jesus was alive! They saw Jesus! Well, Thomas could not believe it. He needed proof. Thomas wanted to see Jesus for himself. Thomas wanted to touch Jesus' scars on his hands and his side. Once Thomas did that, then he would believe. You may have doubting friends like Thomas. Be patient with them. Do not get angry with them. Love them instead, and gently tell the truth about Jesus. Ask Jesus to open their hearts, so they can believe in him, too. Across 2. The disciple who doubted that others had seen Jesus. 4. Another word for happy! The disciples when they saw the Lord! 6. To know that something is true. We use this word in the Creed, I in One God, Father Almighty. Down 1. Jesus gave this power to the disciples, the ability to sins. 3. Jesus always greeted his friends the Disciples with this word. 5. Today s Gospel is from the Gospel according to.

3 We are Called: Our parish was blessed to have Andru O Brien intern with us last summer. In May, after years of study, Andru and Ryan Mattingly will be ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Peoria. During their years of preparation for this vocation, they were supported by family and friends and by everyone who made a gift to the Annual Diocesan Appeal. By making a gift to the ADA, you help meet the cost of priestly formation and education. The 2018 Appeal will be beginning soon. Please prayerfully consider your support. For the sake of his sorrowful passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. St. Michael the Archangel defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host by the Divine Power of God thrust into hell, satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole M_^it[tion from th_ Us Peace Be With You. It s tempting to stay shortsighted when we think about these words of Jesus to his apostles. It s tempting to link our peace with the events of our day. If things are going well, we are at peace. But the moment one of life s trials comes along, we lose our peace. Jesus experienced all of the emotions we experience, both the good and the bad. He showed love and tenderness to a woman who washed his feet. He showed disappointment with the Pharisees who flaunted their religiosity. He was especially compassionate toward the crowds that followed him, and he was surprisingly angry with the money changers in the Temple. He applauded people s generosity, and he hated to see anyone suffering. Yet for all of these different emotions, one thing remained constant: Jesus always held on to his peace. That s because the peace that Jesus had was not about things going his way. His peace was about knowing that his Father was always with him and that God would always be faithful to his promises. It s ironic, isn t it? We can lose our peace, not only when things go wrong, but even when things are going our way. We can forget about God. We can begin to rely only on ourselves and end up feeling proud and self righteous. And this kind of self reliance can lead to a downward spiral of agitation and insecurity. The peace that God offers us is rooted in knowing that we are loved by him, forgiven by him, and saved by him. So when things are going your way, be sure to remain peaceful by thanking God for all of your blessings. And when you are feeling angry, resentful, or bitter, take those feelings to the Lord and ask him to help you. Love everyone. Seek what is best and just for everyone. Seek the Lord each day, and he will help you let the peace of Christ control your hearts in every situation. Lord, help me to hold on to your peace at all times and in every situation. Rosary Intention: For all those who have received the Easter Sacrmaents, especially Kevin Jensen and Colin Summers.
