Congratulations to Dennis Popojas, the winner of the Penguin ticket raffle! The winning number was 847. A special thanks to the generosity of the ticket donor and for everyone who purchased, sold and helped to sell the tickets at Mass. Eternal Rest For the repose of the souls of Antoinette Toni Vetro, Eleanor Betters and Sh Rae Doyle, cousin of Father Daniel. We extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to their family & friends. About Our New School Over the course of the coming month, there will be a follow-up to the announcement this past week of the newly consolidated school which will operate at the Saint Angela Merici site and the consortium of eight parishes who are working together in support of the school. Sister Mary Jo Mutschler, Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Schools, will be working with the principals at both Saint Joseph Regional and Saint Angela Merici to schedule several meetings with parents to be able to talk about the educational program at the newly consolidated school. These meetings will be designed to focus on the lower, middle and upper elementary programs and will take place in mid to late April. Parents are encouraged to begin registering their children for the upcoming school year by calling either Saint Joseph Regional or Saint Angela Merici. More information will be sent to all parents following the Easter break. Let us continue to pray for the success of these important endeavors in support of Catholic school ministry in our district. FATHER DANIEL SECOND COLLECTION TODAY In our offertory packet is a new envelope specifically marked Maintenance / Buildings & Grounds. This green envelope is to be used for a second collection on the first Sunday of each month. Any monies collected during this second collection are earmarked for continued maintenance and improvements to parish properties. As permitted by the Diocese of Pittsburgh, our donations from this new offertory collection contribute directly to PSP and therefore are non-assessed income (not taxed by the diocese). Praise God! 4 SAINT MARK PARISH THE ROAD TO CALVARY (The Living Stations) The Saint Mark Youth Group, along with members of the Music Ministry, are presenting a very special performance of The Road to Calvary. It is a memorable portrayal of the Stations of the Cross and the last hours of our Lord, Jesus Christ. The performance is scheduled for Tuesday, April 3 at 7:30pm at the Liberty site. Anyone who has witnessed this re-enactment in the past has left with a feeling of spiritual enrichment. Please consider joining us for the start of Holy Week. For more information, call Lori DiMarco at Easter Triduum Stay with me and keep watch. A simple request, Jesus did not ask much of his disciples, his friends, in the Garden of Gethsemane, yet they could not stay awake. He does not ask much of us either, yet more often than not, we follow the lead of his disciples in the Garden and cannot stay awake to the requests of Jesus. Here at Saint Mark Parish, we begin the Easter Triduum with Mass at Port Vue followed by a procession of the Most Blessed Sacrament to Liberty. The Liberty site is then kept open until 10:00pm for a quiet time of prayer and reflection. Perhaps we can try to be better disciples by putting aside some time on Holy Thursday to come and be with Jesus. LENTEN FISH FRY at Saint Mark Parish 3:00-7:00pm Father Rowan Hall Saint Mark Parish is hosting Lenten Fish Fry dinners each Friday during Lent including Good Friday. Choice selections are as follows: Baked or Batter Fried Fish Dinners Fish Sandwich Shrimp Dinners Crab Cake Dinners Pierogies Sides include haluski, macaroni & cheese or French fries, and coleslaw or vegetable. Eat in or takeout available. Parishioners are asked to donate baked goods for dessert. As they greet and bless your family personally, they affirm and support you as a household of love and witnesses to your faith. Come and experience the Bishops expression of appreciation for the gift that you are and the gifts that you bring to our Diocese. Each family attending will receive a special memento to take home and the children will receive a sweet treat. VIRTUS: Protecting God s Children Workshop If you have not attended the Virtus: Protecting God s Children workshop and you are active in ministry with our parish, please note that we are hosting a Virtus workshop on Thursday, May 3, 2012 (6:30 pm 9:30 pm). Contemporary Mass Saturday, April 14, 6:00pm Liberty Borough site Attention: All CRAFTERS We are so fortunate to have so many talented crafters in our parish and are grateful for your support by donating your hand-crafted items. Spring is a great time to get crafting, and we appreciate all types of crafts and any and all donations. This year, we would like to have a great variety of crafts showcasing all of our talented crafters. Any type of craft woodworking, painting, needlepoint, cross-stitch, stamping, iron work, sewing, knitting, crocheting, for example, would be appreciated. Popular craft basket themes are as follows: Baby and Sports baskets. Any craft item for a Baby or Sports basket. We also would appreciate 2-yd. pieces of fleece to make blankets and pillows with any sports theme, team or baby theme. We also need bags of fiberfill stuffing to make the large pillows for the Festival. Any type or color of ribbon is needed for the bows. We will have our Craft Drop-off on Monday, July 9 from 6:30-8:30 in Father Rowan Hall for the Festival. Thanks!
