Bishop meets till noon 5 - Laity; 12 - Priests and Sisters; 18 - Priests and Sisters. BISHOP S MESSAGE FOR NOVEMBER 2014 I wish you happy feast of all the Saints and Rajyothsava of Karnataka. You all have participated in the Swach Bharath Abhiyan. I congratulate you for holding the day and cooperating with the programme of our Prime Minister. I thank you for organizing the Mission Sunday in a befitting manner in your parishes. It should also inspire our young boys and girls for the dedicated and a missionary life. Among the important events to be taking place in our Diocese is the inauguration and blessing of the Shrine dedicated to St John Paul II at Bajpe in Pope grounds. The Shrine is built on the place of Podium from where Pope spoke to more than five lakh people on 6 February The Shrine is a permanent remembrance of Pope s visit and also to honour him as a Saint of the Church. He himself was a victim of the difficult sickness and he intercedes for people who suffer from various sicknesses. I hope people will come and pray at the Shrine for relief from sickness and ill health. The programme will take place on 27 November at 4.30p.m.

3 Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio will be the main celebrant and the guest Bishops of Karnataka attending the programme. I cordially invite all of you to participate in the programme. In preparation for the event, the statue of St John Paul II will be conveyed in motorcade procession to Pope ground. It will be installed and blessed by me. I request as many of you as possible to join the procession on 23 November from our residence at Kodialbail at 3.00p.m. I gratefully acknowledge the leadership given and hard work done by the parish priest and his assistant of St Joseph Church, Bajpe for this project of the Shrine. He has been actively supported by the Bajpe parishioners, many parishes and well wishers. I invoke the blessings of the Saint on all of you. I thank you and May God bless you. On 30 November the Holy season of Advent will begin. On 4 January 2015, the Diocesan Eucharistic procession will take place from Milagres Church to Cathedral. I request the Episcopal City and City deaneries not to hold any programmes in the afternoon of 4 January. 6 Year of Consecrated Life In an address to the heads of men s religious orders participating in the 82nd general assembly of the Union of Superiors General in Rome on November 29th Pope Francis announced that 2015 will be a Year dedicated to the Promotion of Consecratedf Life. The year coincides with the 50th anniversaries of the Vatican Council and of the Decree Perfectae Caritatis on religious life. Unveiling the plan of the year, a new months ago, Cardinal Joao Braz de Aviz, Prefect of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life (CFCL) said, We believe that the Council has been a breath of the Spirit not only for the whole Church but, perhaps especially, for the consecrated life. We are also convinced that in these 50 years, consecrated life has undertaken a fruitful journey of renewal - not free, certainly, of difficuties and hardship - in the commitment to follow what the Council asked of the consecrated: fidelity to the Lord, to the Church, to their own charism and to the people of today. The Year has three major objectives: - to celebrate the golden anniversaries of the Second Vatican Council and of Perfectate Caritatis - to live the present passionately - to embrace the future with hope The year will focus on : - renewal for men and women in consecrated life - thanksgiving among the faithful for the service of sisters, brothers, priests and nuns. - invitation to young Catholics to consider a religious vocation. The year of consecrated life has for its theme WAKE UP THE WORLD and it will be launched by Pope Francis on November 29th - 30th 2014 (the first Sunday of Advent) with an opening prayer vigil and Mass. It will conclude on February 2nd 2016, the World Day of Consecrated Life. The CFCL has already issued a path-breaking document for the year entitled REJOICE! A letter to consecrated men and women

7 A message from the teaching of Pope Francis. This 70 - page document is a fitting initiator and backgrounder for the year inviting all consecrated persons to rejoice in their consecration. The document also provides ten very pointed questions posed by Pope Francis (in the very first year of his Pontificate) to various stages of religious life. The document is also an invitation for consecrated person to reflect individually and collectively on these questions. I.
