Lord, hear us.

First Reading Acts 13:14, A reading from the Acts of the Apostles Paul and Barnabas carried on from Perga till they reached Antioch in Pisidia. Here they went to synagogue on the sabbath and took their seats. When the meeting broke up, many Jews and devout converts joined Paul and Barnabas, and in their talks with them Paul and Barnabas urged them to remain faithful to the grace God had given them. The next sabbath almost the whole town assembled to hear the word of God. When they saw the crowds, the Jews, prompted by jealousy, used blasphemies and contradicted everything Paul said. Then Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, We had to proclaim the word of God to you first, but since you have rejected it, since you do not think yourselves worthy of eternal life, we must turn to the pagans. For this is what the Lord commanded us to do when he said: I have made you a light for the nations, so that my salvation may reach the ends of the earth. It made the pagans very happy to hear this and they thanked the Lord for his message; all who were destined for eternal life became believers. Thus the word of the Lord spread through the whole countryside. But the Jews worked upon some of the devout women of the upper classes and the leading men of the city and persuaded them to turn against Paul and Barnabas and expel them from their territory. So they shook the dust from their feet in defiance and went off to Iconium; but the disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit. This is the word of the Lord. Responsorial Psalm Ps 99: R. v.3 (R.) We are his people, the sheep of his flock. 1. Cry out with joy to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing for joy. (R.) 2. Know that he, the Lord, is God. He made us, we belong to him, we are his people, the sheep of his flock. (R.) 3. Indeed, how good is the Lord, eternal his merciful love. He is faithful from age to age. (R.) Second Reading Rv 7:9, A reading from the book of the Apocalypse I, John, saw a huge number, impossible to count, of people from every nation, race, tribe and language; they were standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palms in their hands. One of the elders said to me, These are the people who have been through the great persecution, and because they have washed their robes white again in the blood of the Lamb, they now

stand in front of God s throne and serve him day and night in his sanctuary; and the One who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them. They will never hunger or thirst again; neither the sun nor scorching wind will ever plague them, because the Lamb who is at the throne will be their shepherd and will lead them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. This is the word of the Lord. Gospel Acclamation Jn 10:14 Alleluia, alleluia! I am the good shepherd, says the Lord; I know my sheep, and mine know me. Alleluia! Gospel Jn 10:27-30 A reading from the holy Gospel according to John Jesus said: The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life; they will never be lost and no one will ever steal them from me. The Father who gave them to me is greater than anyone, and no one can steal from the Father. The Father and I are one. This is the Gospel of the Lord. Communion Antiphon The Good Shepherd is risen! He who laid down his life for his sheep, who died for his flock, he is risen, alleluia. 5 FATHER MOGG As some of you are already aware, Father Kevin has been admitted to hospital this week with back problems. The primary purpose for his hospital stay is rest, to see if it will cure the problem itself. At this time, Father needs total rest. Please call the parish office if you are considering ringing or visiting Father. We can give you information on when the best time to do that is. Many thanks and please keep Fr. Kevin in your prayers. PARISH MAINTENANCE We have some small jobs if you are able to assist with any of these, please give me a call. (1) Painting touch ups only. (2) Tiling small wall. (3) Fence & gate repairs. Many thanks Max Fletcher or ROSTERS FOR SUNDAY MINISTRIES Rosters for June August will be drawn up in the next two weeks. If any Reader/Commentator or Special Minister wants to change their current availability, please leave a note for me in the Parish Office by Friday 30 th April. Are there any parishioners who would like to be on these lists? We are especially in need of additional readers at 7:00pm and 11:00am Masses. The commitment would be for one Mass per month, swaps and unexpected challenges can be accommodated, our sophisticated sound system makes it easy, training is cheerfully available. Please leave your details with the parish secretary and I ll get back to you. Thank you - Chris Smyth Children s Liturgy Corner: Wanted: Ice cream containers with their lids are needed for a Mother s Day activity. If you have any spare then please bring to church and leave on the table in the main foyer of the church. Newsflash! Children Liturgy has started another group. The children at 9am mass are welcome to join in and have some fun learning about Jesus and the gospel in a child centred program. We currently have: Junior Macs - for children aged from 0 to Prep. Middle Macs - for children in Years 1, 2 and 3. Big Macs - for children in Years 4, 5 and 6. All children (including visiting grandchildren and children) are welcome to attend. The children leave the church at the beginning of Mass and return at the Offertory to sit around the altar. New children most welcome. Children s Liturgy at 11am Mass: We are keen to get a group started for Children s Liturgy at the 11am Mass. The curriculum is ready, lots of support and wisdom available and all we need is some interested parents to supervise the children. It is truly a wonderful and rewarding experience to help children to discover Jesus. Anyone interested can contact Anne-Marie on to discuss. Working with Children check is required and 3 to 4 volunteers can make this happen. Anne-Marie Houlihan Children s Liturgy Coordinator

PROJECT COMPASSION If you have not already done so, please return your Project Compassion Boxes and/or Envelopes as soon as possible. They may be placed on the collection plates or placed in the Project Compassion bins (immediately before or after Mass) located in each foyer, or returned to the Parish House during office hours. When returning boxes or envelopes, parishioners who require a receipt for tax deductibility should tick the appropriate panel on the box or envelope and ensure that your name and address information is completed. NEW PARISHIONERS St Mac s Welcome Team is eager to meet with new parishioners and tell you about our parish, our church, our school and the wonderful groups we have in our Parish. We especially would like to invite you to our Welcome Parish Dinner. Please fill in a slip (available in both foyers) and place in the box provided we will be in touch with you shortly thereafter. Thank you, Parish Welcome Team. Dennis Rosbrook Co-ordinator or Parish Office. A Note Regarding Wills! Just a word of strong caution when people are making their wills. In recent times a number of very devout Catholic people have been denied a proper Catholic funeral because their families are not faith minded. So please ensure that you clearly stipulate your wishes. The Conference will be organising some ways of celebrating this great event. Hopefully, past members as well as present members, will be able to celebrate this great event. Over fifty thousand families have been assisted by the Conference members who visit them, those who assist in the shop and members of the Parish who supported the members. News of events will be published in The Word. Sacrificial Giving Pledge : $ per week. Average weekly amount for Jan Feb 2010 : $5410 or 83.5% of the pledge FOOTY TIPPING ROUND 4! Once again we have weekly winners. In Round 4 we had four members with 8 correct - Paul Stinear, Joshua Bryan (one of our younger members whose grandparents would be quite proud), John Lewis who has returned to the fold and Terry McKenzie who was the winner of the competition in its first year. There was one red faced parishioner and it was not from cooking the BBQ sausages last weekend, but rather he had made a "Blue"! No name mentioned D...! Bill O'Reilly still leads the way with Lucia Keightley both on 26. Most newspaper critics have not reached 26. They lead by 1 from Mary Lane, Terry McKenzie, Dermot McCarthy and Joshua Bryan on 25. They are followed by 9 on 24. Margaret Wilson scored a 7 but, like a number of the tippers were victim of a "Bulldog sickness"! Fr Kevin meals For the past 30 years, I have tried to come to families for evening meals. It s been for me a great way to get to know the whole family. Please ring the Parish House (Francesca or Sarah) and arrange a suitable date. I usually come about 6:15pm and most times have to get back to the House by 8pm. No specials, no banquets, no broccoli!! Fr Kevin

JUST A REMINDER OF OUR THANKSGIVING PROGRAM The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit Acts 13:52. Because the disciples had heard Our Lord s call, they were able to spread the message of the Gospel with strength and vitality. There may be some people who have moved into the Parish since the renewal of our Thanksgiving program.
