Please sign up for an Hour of Devotion this weekend at the Sunday Masses. The Schedule for each day will be posted in the Narthex. Even if you did not sign up for an Hour of Devotion, please try to come out to spend time with our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament during adoration, and attend the Mass each day. Our opening Mass on Friday at 7:30 PM will include a candlelight procession. We will have a Choral Mass and procession at 11:00 AM on Sunday for the Closing of Forty Hours.

2 "40 Days for Life" Vigil begins September 22 Can you spend ONE HOUR outside the Cherry Hill Abortion Clinic this Fall to pray quietly for an end to abortion? The "40 Days for Life" campaign is an annual, nationwide effort to pray for a conversion of hearts -- conversion of those seeking abortion and conversion of those working in the abortion industry. Please consider signing up for one (or more!) of the one-hour Saturday time slots. Sign-up sheets are located in the St. Martha Room. CCD News CCD Classes for Grades 5-12 Meet on September 19 th CCD Classes meet on the second and third Sundays of each month, September to May at 9:45 AM 10:45 AM. Grades K-4 meet on the second Sunday and Grades 5-12 meet on the third Sunday of each month.. Attention CCD Teachers There will be a CAP II Training session at Mater Ecclesiae on Monday, September 27 at 7:30 PM in Bishop DiMarzio Hall. If it has been five years since your last CAP training, you have received a letter informing you of the need to attend a new session. The CAP II session is open to all who wish to receive training in recognizing and dealing with Bullying. CCD FUNDRAISER Thank You for Your Continued Support! Drop off your empty inkjet & laser cartridges, used cell phones, and PDA s in the Cartridges for Kids Collection Basket in the St. Martha Room. Tell your family, friends, and Businesses. 3 Fall Choral Masses Through the generosity of our parishioners, all of the Choral Masses have been sponsored except for the Mass of the Epiphany on January 6, If anyone is interested in sponsoring this Mass, please place the donation in an envelope, with the name of the dedication, name of the sponsor, the Choral Mass requested, and return the envelope to the Rectory Office or place the envelope in the collection basket during Mass. Calling All Singers The Choir which sings at the 8:30 AM Low Mass is in need of new members. Please consider sharing your love of singing. The practice is held every Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM and Sundays a half an hour before the Low Mass. The repertoire includes English and Latin hymns in four parts. He who sings prays twice! EMBER DAYS Days of Fasting and Penance Ember Days are on the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday following the First Sunday in Lent and Pentecost Sunday, during the third full week of September, and after the Third Sunday of Advent. They are days of fasting for the special sanctification of the four seasons and for obtaining God s blessing on the clergy, for whose ordination the Ember Saturdays are specially set apart. The Propers of the Masses reflect the Season in which they occur and include additional Lessons said before the Gospel. This year, our Forty Hours Adoration falls on Ember Friday and Ember Saturday. Nursing Home Mass On the Second Friday of each month at 11:00 AM volunteers pray the Rosary and attend Mass said by Fr. Pasley at the Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center at Virtua in Berlin. The next Nursing Home Mass will be October 8. Mater Ecclesiae Council #12833 meetings are held on the 2 nd & 4 th Mondays of the month at 8:00 PM in the Knights Room. The Scriptural Rosary and Prayer for Vocations are said at 7:30 PM in the Church. New members are welcome. Dress Code We want to foster the greatest reverence and respect for Our Lord at Mater Ecclesiae. Our attire is an outward expression of our love for the Lord and shows how important He is to us. It is also a sign of our respect for the House of God. Therefore, one should always wear their Sunday Best to Mass: modesty, good taste and common sense should prevail. Accordingly, the following rules apply: NO SHORTS, EVER, FOR MEN, WOMEN OR CHILDREN. Women: No revealing clothing, low necklines, short skirts or bare midriffs. Please dress modestly with dignity and self-respect. We suggest that women wear a head covering. Men: No tattered, soiled work clothes, old jeans or gym clothes. Please wear business or business casual attire to set a good example for our young men and boys.

We are forming a Convert / Revert Class for the Fall 2010 Session. This class is for converts who want to study to become Catholic, to be accepted into the Faith at the Easter Vigil. It is also for Catholics who would like a refresher course in the Catholic Faith or those who are returning home to the Faith. The classes will be held weekly on Monday nights at 7:00 PM and will be taught by Father Pasley. The book used in the course is This is the Faith: A Complete Explanation of the Catholic Faith by Canon Francis Ripley. It is available for sale in the Padre Pio Book Store. Holy Family Home Educators is currently interviewing volunteers to teach high school level Speech/Comm & Spanish. Classes are during the day on Tuesdays at Mater Ecclesiae. Tuesday Night Confessions The Sacrament of Penance will now be available every Tuesday evening from 8 PM to 9 PM. This extra hour each week is provided for the convenience of many and is, of course, in addition to the availability of Confessions before every Mass. Since the church will now be open on Tuesday nights from 8 to 9 PM you may wish to stop in for a brief visit to Our Lord in the tabernacle, pray a rosary, or even make a personal Holy Hour, even if you are not going to Confession at that time.

7 Novena to St. Michael the Archangel September 21 to September 29 Our nine day Novena to Saint Michael the Archangel will begin next week on September 21 and continue after each daily Mass. The last Novena prayer will be at the Mass on the Feast of St. Michael on Wednesday, September 29. If you are unable to attend daily Mass, you can join us spiritually by praying the Novena at home. Novena Booklets are available in the Narthex and online at our website. NEW CAP SESSIONS ANNOUNCED We can be sure that we love God s children when we love God and do what He has commanded. 1 John 5:2 The Office of Safe Environment for Children, Youth and Adults is announcing CAP (Child Assault Prevention) sessions. CAP is the safe environment training program for adults who have regular contact with minors. Attendance is required in order to comply with the USCCB s Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. The policy of the diocese is that adults will attend CAP once every five years. CAP 1 teaches attendees to recognize child abuse and neglect and how to report to the proper authorities. Adults are taught that children have the right to be safe, strong and free. CAP 1 is for new volunteers and employees. CAP 2 is No More Bullies, No More Victims and is a workshop on bullying awareness and bullying prevention. Cyberbullying is also addressed. Both sessions are 90 minutes. Adults must attend CAP 1 before attending CAP 2. After five years, adults have the option of attending CAP 1 again if they prefer. The Mater Ecclesiae Drama Club The Mater Ecclesiae Drama Club will be having registrations in Bishop DiMarzio Hall on Tuesday, September 21. There will be two groups available again this year. The Youth Group is for students from six through eleven years of age. The Teen Group is for students ages twelve and up. A $5 Activity Fee will be charged per child to help defray costs throughout the year and for the annual play production. The Youth Group class will begin promptly at 3:00 PM on Tuesdays, with the Teen Group beginning promptly at 4:00 PM also on Tuesdays. The Teen Group generally ends at 6:00 PM. Students will be taught improvisation, pantomime, comedic timing, dramatic readings, application of stage make-up, stage movement, voice projection, facial and vocal qualities, and much more.
