The Federation of North American Explorers, USA, a youth program at the Parish, is having a sign-up/information day after all the Masses the weekend of August 25 th and 26 th. 3 Save the Date! 40 Hours Devotion will be held on October 5th, 6th, 7th DIOCESAN MARIAN PILGRIMAGE Every other year, Catholics throughout the Diocese of Camden journey to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. All are welcome to join Bishop Dennis Sullivan for this Pilgrimage on Saturday, October 13, 2018 This year, pilgrims will be able to view the magnificent Trinity Dome Mosaic Which was only recently completed and blessed. Pilgrims will enjoy a Concert of Sacred Music, have the opportunity to go to Confession, And attend Mass celebrated by Bishop Sullivan in the Great Upper Church of the Basilica. Catholics from throughout the Diocese will participate in the Procession of Parishes, And join together in praying the Holy Rosary, As we honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and entrust our Special Intentions to her.

4 Important Announcement Concerning Our Parish Pancake Breakfasts We have learned that key members of our Pancake Breakfast team will be unable to continue in their vital roles in preparing the monthly breakfasts. With a heavy heart, we thank them for their years of faithful service to Mater Ecclesiae. The Pancake Breakfasts serve as a consistent, reliable fundraiser for the parish. Perhaps more importantly, they provide an opportunity for parishioners to socialize and develop friendships that otherwise might not be possible with so many living so far apart in the tri-state area. As a non-territorial parish, many of our parishioners travel a great distance to attend Mass on Sundays. For those who have children in our CCD Program, the Pancake Breakfasts have become an important part of their Sundays at Mater. We thank God for the members of the Pancake Breakfast Team who are willing to go forward and continue the Pancake Breakfasts. But they can t do it alone. For the breakfasts to continue, we need additional parishioners to step up and be part of the volunteer team. We need to hear from you by September 1. Without a firm commitment from the volunteers in each category below, the breakfasts will end. 1.) Two people dedicated for the year to specifically help on Sunday with food preparation and general kitchen duties from beginning to end of each breakfast. 2.) One person on Saturday before the breakfast to contribute about two hours helping to peel potatoes, crack eggs, and set up coffee/tea and chafing dishes. 3.) A family or group of four individuals who would sign up to volunteer for one breakfast out of the year to specifically help those who normally contribute after each breakfast to the clean-up of the hall and kitchen. The future of our Pancake Breakfast is now in your hands. If you want them to continue, if you value the importance of this vital monthly event, you will make the sacrifice and volunteer to help out. Each month, the intentions on the envelopes will be remembered. To donate the flowers for special Holy Days, the cost is $50 per bouquet or vase, or $200 for the four bouquets (2 on altar, 1 for Blessed Mother, 1 for St. Joseph). The special Holy Days will be listed in the bulletin, like our Choral Masses.

A. The relics of the true Cross and relics of the thorns, nails, etc., used in the Passion are entitled to a very special veneration, and they have certain privileges with regard to their use and the manner of keeping them that other relics have not. A relic of the true Cross is never kept or carried with other relics. Q What veneration does the Church permit us to give to relics? A. The Church permits us to give relics a veneration similar to that we give images. We do not venerate the relics for their own sake, but for the sake of the persons they represent. The souls of canonized saints are certainly in heaven, and we are certain that their bodies also will be there. Therefore, we may honor their bodies because they are to be glorified in heaven and were sanctified upon earth. Men s Schola The Schola Divinum Officium is open to men and boys (ages 14 and up) of the parish. No previous musical experience necessary. This second schola provides basic lessons in singing Gregorian chant and leads the singing at selected sung Masses during the year, the Office of Terce each Sunday, and other Divine Office services. The Scriptural Rosary and Prayer for Vocations are said at 7:30 PM in the Church. New members are welcome. The Scriptural Rosary can be found on their website: discalced Carmelite Society of Mater Ecclesiae The Discalced Carmelite Society of Mater Ecclesiae is a Contemplative Third Order of the Discalced Carmelites. Our vocation is not a social one, but one of prayer. Our duty is to be Obedient to the Church and our Superiors. Meetings are open to Parishioners only who are 24 years of age and older or admitted by our Spiritual Director, Rev. Robert C. Pasley, KCHS. Meetings are the First Saturdays of the month and special Feast days. Formation is a journey lasting about 6 years. Our attire is an outward expression of our love for the Lord and shows how important He is to us. It is also a sign of our respect for the House of God. Therefore, one should always wear their Sunday Best to Mass: modesty, good taste and common sense should prevail. Accordingly, the following rules apply: NO SHORTS, EVER, FOR MEN, WOMEN OR CHILDREN. Women: No revealing clothing, low necklines, short skirts or bare midriffs. Please dress modestly with dignity and self-respect. We suggest that women wear a head covering. Men: No tattered, soiled work clothes, old jeans or gym clothes. Please wear business or business casual attire to set a good example for our young men and boys.
