Seminarians from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary come to talk to our school students about priestly vocations, as well as our own former seminarian-now Rev. Kenneth C. Brabazon Jr.-who when available, would go to school to speak to the students. Ken would attend as many parish events as his schedule permitted and would bring fellow seminarians with him when possible, which had a very possitive effect with our students and young parishioners. Our Sisters, the IHM`S, as well as myself, alwyas ask our young men and women to consider vocations to the priesthood and religious life. The IHM Sisiters and I get involved in many extra-curricular activities, so that the students see us living our vocations in a positive light. Our faculty prays for vocations every day. Every Thursday, we had an IHM postulant come into school where she would help one of our teachers with language arts. We have a Mass offered specifically for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. We have an annual vocation prayer service for our students which includes talks from the IHM Sisters and myself, in which we discuss our vocation stories. Our IHM Sisiters also present a display of their order, so that the children can learn more about the life of a Sister. Every Sunday and weekday, our Prayer of the Faithful includes a petition for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life. In our weekly parish bulletin, we publicize all vocation programs being offered at St. Charles, as well as prayers for priests and seminarians to be said at home in the hope of encouraging the discernment of vocations to the priesthood and religious life. 1. Vocation petition in the Prayer of the Faithful at daily Mass. 2. Acknowledge and recognize Religious Sisters in the parish. 3. Invite African American Religious & Priests to a special mass during the month of February. 4. Invite seminarian to speak at Mass, especially during the Seminary Appeal. 5.
