5 Lighting of the Candles We light a candle in the name of the Maker, Who lit the world and breathed the breath of life for us We light a candle in the name of the Son, Who saved the world and stretched out his hand to us We light a candle in the name of the Spirit Who encompasses the world and blesses our souls with yearning We light three lights for the trinity of love: God above us, God beside us, God beneath us: The beginning, the end, the everlasting one.

6 Liturgy Philippians 2:5-11 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 18 Lectio Divina Luke 1:46-55 (Mary s Magnificat) Mary responded, Oh, how my soul praises the Lord. How my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour! For he took notice of his lowly servant girl, and from now on all generations will call me blessed. For the Mighty One is holy, and he has done great things for me. He shows mercy from generation to generation, to all who fear him. His mighty arm has done tremendous things! He has scattered the proud and haughty ones.
