The outpouring of love and kindness was overwhelming. A special thank you to Msgr. Darcy, Ron Procopio and the music ministry, and everyone that helped with the reception. Deacon John Needham Looking ahead: Monday, November 26 at 7:00 PM Parish Council Meeting is scheduled to meet in the Community Room Saturday, December 1 at 5:00 PM Mass will be the Blessing of CYO coaches and players Sunday, December 2, 9:00 AM to 12:00, Breakfast with St. Nicholas and Bazaar Saturday & Sunday December 8 & 9, the second collection is The Retirement Fund for Religious St. Margaret Church needs your support. We are asking every parish family to make a gift/pledge to our Annual Collection. The annual ST. MARGARET PARISH CHRISTMAS CONCERT and pageant will be held on Sunday, December 16, at 4:00 p.m. in the church. Proceeds from a collection will benefit the Bread of Life Food pantry. This annual concert has become a holiday tradition for many, so plan to arrive early. The La Salette Retreat Center in Attleboro is the location for a support group for separated and divorced persons. Our next meeting will be Tuesday 11/27 from 7:00pm-8:30pm and the following meeting will be held on Tuesday 12/11 from 7:00pm-8:30pm as well. For those going through separation or divorce, the year end holidays can be a very difficult time. A time of year that used to be joyful and happy is now a reminder of happiness lost. Our ministry helps those going through separation and divorce navigate the pitfalls of the holiday season and lets them know that they are not alone.

3 Feast of Christ the King St. Margaret Parish Ministries ST. MARGARET SCHOOL NEWS Classes for Grades 1-8 continue on December 9 & 16 No class on: November 25 (Thanksgiving weekend & Dec. 2 (breakfast with St. Nick) Confirmation I Candidates: The sessions for Advent will be on Sunday, November 25, 2018 immediately following the 10 AM Mass and Tuesday, November 27th, from 6:30-7:30 PM. Candidates only need to attend one of the sessions. Parents/Sponsors are welcome to attend to learn more about our Program and to assist the candidate with his/her formation. Mark your calendars now for the Annual St. Margaret School Christmas Concert to be held on Thursday, December 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium of East Providence High School. Student Council will be collecting baby clothes, diapers, wipes, powder, formula, bottles, etc. to be donated to the mothers and babies of Gabriel s Call. They are accepting donations from Nov. 26th through Dec. 18th. Please remember in your prayers: Lillian Richardson whose funeral was celebrated this week. The Bread of Life Food Pantry Located at Newman Congregational Church St. Margaret Parish Christmas Concert and pageant will be held on Sunday, December 16, at 4:00 p.m. in the church. All youth are welcome to sing in the Children s Choir at the 5 p.m. Mass on Saturday evenings. Join us for rehearsal at 4 p.m. in the Community Room. Parish Giving Tree Beginning the weekend of November 25/26, gift tags will be available on the Parish Giving Trees at all church entrances. The gifts will be given to children from area schools and Children s Friend & Service. All gifts should be brought to church, unwrapped, no later than the weekend of Dec. 8/9. Thank you for your prayerful consideration! The Pantry is open the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. The food pantry is a collaborative effort sponsored by Saint Margaret s and other Christian congregations in Rumford. For more information, call Upcoming Pantry Hours: December 11, from 5 to 7 PM. A wonderful community opportunity to meet and have photos taken with Santa Claus while shopping for your Christmas gifts from our wonderful local vendors. Santa, shopping and crafts are free for all to enjoy. To delight in a hot, buffet breakfast there are tickets for purchase. 5 November 25, 2018 The Pastor s Corner The Solemnity of Christ the King is the last Sunday of the liturgical year. Today brings to a glorious conclusion another year of grace. The great national holiday of Thanksgiving and the recent Memorial Mass for all those buried from St. Margaret s in the past year helps us to focus our minds and hearts on the gifts that are ours: faith, family/friends, and community. A portion of the Good Friday trial dialogue between Jesus and Pontius Pilate is read today in the Gospel. It really has something to say to us today. The image of the Procurator dressed in his white tunic and red Roman military cloak is in contrast to Jesus wearing his homespun seamless garment, who was beaten, savagely whipped, bloodied, and crowned with thorns. The response of Pilate to Jesus unfortunately is omitted in today s Gospel. Pilate asks, Truth, what is truth? The truth has only one face. St. John to Evangelist, both his iconic and ironic presentation makes one thing apparently clear to his initial listeners/ readers, that Jesus is the Truth! Next weekend we enter a New Church Year with the Advent Season. Our parish traditional Giving Trees are at the doors of the Church as we consider sharing our Christ-inspired giving for the needy again this year. Please consider taking one or two ornaments and return them unwrapped with the tag on the gift by December 8/9. Join us for Breakfast with St. Nicholas on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 9 AM to 12 Noon. Tickets are $7 for a full breakfast. For prospective families, who take a tour of the school, the breakfast is our gift to you. Be sure to take home a bulletin for all the Advent happenings at the parish and school. Spend a few months each day focusing on the virtue of holy waiting. Take a break from all the electronics you will survive! Thank you to all our parishioners who have responded already to the Annual Appeal.
