Notes On Today s Anthem Come, You People, Rise and Sing is a joyful American folk tune entitled Boundless Mercy, which first appeared in the Union Harmony one of several collections of shape-note hymns which were published in the early 19 th century. Shape-note notation was conceived in an effort to make music more accessible to the untrained singer. It also provided a means by which the oral heritage of Celtic folk tunes were published and spread among congregations and singing communities throughout southern and rural areas of the country. Remarkably, the tune of "Come, You People, Rise and Sing" consists of only four notes, and yet it serves as a cheerful, rousing testament to God s goodness. Come once or come weekly; each session is independent. Harvest Ingathering Food Drive Missions, YG & SS are collecting non-perishable food items through the end of the month. Accepting-foods in non-breakable containers or sturdy packaging, especially canned: fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, soup and meals in a can (beef stew, Spaghetti O's, etc.). Also peanut butter, jelly, coffee, tea, boxed rice, pilaf, couscous, pasta, cereal...but all nutritious foods and staples will be gratefully accepted! Drop at the Chapel or in the Narthex.
