1 OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Growing In Faith Together (G.I.F.T.) Dear Parishioners, Congratulations to Oliver Lee Enz (son of Nathan & Kristin), Hattie Lee Petersen (daughter of Aaron & Tarah), and Daniel Peter Crowley (son of Jeff & Sharon), who were all baptized last weekend. (Daniel was baptized in the hospital.) May they grow in faith and knowledge. Our sympathy to Marlene Leonard and her family whose sister Marian Sonnek died this last week; and to Joanne Smith and family whose son Gareth died. May Marian and Gareth rest in peace. In just two short weeks, Deacon Ralph Poyo will be with us for our first session of preparation for the AFC mission in January. All are welcome, and special invitations were sent out to all staff and volunteers. It will begin at 7 pm on Friday, August 14 and continue following a special 8 am Mass for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Saturday, August 15 and continue through Saturday evening Mass. I am looking forward to it, and hope that you will attend as well. This week, we are having our first Vacation Bible School. Please keep the children, volunteers, and directors in your prayers. I am certain that the children will enjoy the week. Such experiences help parents in their role as the teachers of the faith. By gathering with others, having fun, singing songs and hearing bible stories, the children encounter Jesus in a simple yet profound way, and it can help them begin the friendship with the Lord early that will only grow and deepen. Brian Mullady, a Dominican priest of the Western Dominican Province in the United States, as he explores the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. He uses Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and writings of Church theologians to explain what the sacraments are and why they are so important. Episodes 4 13 examine each sacrament individually. Fr. Mullady looks at the Sacrament of Marriage during the final two episodes.
