3 There are really not that many ords to learn to sing in Latin It s a lot easier than English ecause the voel sounds are alays the same none of this read and red usiness e suffer through in English So once you can sing a fe pieces in Latin, it all egins to get easy To help you and your choir, you may have noticed that e try to put more than one musical setting of a Latin text in our choir ooks In this ook, e egin ith six settings of Cantate Domino The setting y Friderici is for SSA, hile the one y Cima includes a continuo part, for organ or harpsichord, and, if you have one, a cello or assoon douling the ass line Do rememer than on almost any of these you can sustitute someone playing an instrument for a missing part When you look at Stanford s Coelus for doule choir, you may shake your head, thinking you ll never have enough singers to do it ustice Hoever, e ve taken one of the choir parts and set it for Brass Quartet or Quintet so that you may sing the choir part ack and forth against the Brass In fact, Ellen, the editor of this ook, has performed this for organ and rass, using these rass parts, and the organ accompaniment The rass parts are availale on our site for donloading Beati Quorum is a lovely piece for SSATTB To adequately rehearse this piece, e suggest you split the choir and have the female voices rehearse in one room, and the male voices in another This greatly reduces the amount of rehearsal time In one half hour, you ve accomplished an hour s ork It does not take an afully large choir to sing any of these choral pieces Many of them ork perfectly ell ith one voice on a part Lord, For Thy Tender Mercy s Sake and If Ye Love Me should e in the repertoire of every choir, the list of music hich can e sung at the drop of a hat I d suggest adding the Pitoni Cantate Domino and Let Thy Merciful Ears y Mudd to that list as ell Many of these Anthems (ords in English) and Motets (ords in Latin) are linked on our e site to Matthe Curtis s Choraltrackscom site These are links to complete performances of the orks It s a great ay get to kno the music And if you suscrie to his site, you can access the training videos hich enhance each individual part, ut still enale you to hear all of the choral parts together It s a great help to a choir to e ale to listen to the music, as ell as their individual parts, outside of choir rehearsal Singers asor much more information aout ho to sing a piece y listening to it than they realize Useful links: Church Music Association of America musicasacracom Choral Tracks choraltrackscom
