3 Proclamation of Praise Come, Holy Spirit, and transform our lives. Come, Holy Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit, and teach us how to love. Open us up to the way of Jesus. Come, family of God, and let us be the Church. We come in the love of Jesus to change the world! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. And also with you. Prayer of the Day God of grace, in the power and promise of Jesus, we have been saved and sent in his name to be agents of change for a world in need. Give us a fire-like zeal for your work. May the loving name of Jesus be proclaimed in word and deed for all the world to hear. Amen Anthem 9:00 Grace Flows Down/Amazing Grace arr. Lloyd Larson Senior High Choir 10:30 Sing It! Joanne Brown LeDoux King s Messengers Lesson Exodus 19:16-25 On the morning of the third day there was thunder and lightning, as well as a thick cloud on the mountain, and a blast of a trumpet so loud that all the people who were in the camp trembled. Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God. They took their stand at the foot of the mountain. Now Mount Sinai was wrapped in smoke, because the Lord had descended upon it in fire; the smoke went up like the smoke of a kiln, while the whole mountain shook violently. As the blast of the trumpet grew louder and louder, Moses would speak and God would answer him in thunder. When the Lord descended upon Mount Sinai, to the top of the mountain, the Lord summoned Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up. Then the Lord said to Moses, Go down and warn the people not to break through to the Lord to look; otherwise many of them will perish. Even the priests who approach the Lord must consecrate themselves or the Lord will break out against them. Moses said to the Lord, The people are not permitted to come up to Mount Sinai; for you yourself warned us, saying, Set limits around the mountain and keep it holy. The Lord said to him, Go down, and come up Continued on next page 3
4 bringing Aaron with you; but do not let either the priests or the people break through to come up to the Lord; otherwise he will break out against them. So Moses went down to the people and told them. Anthem Climb to the Top of the Highest Mountain Carolyn Jennings St. Andrew s Choir and New Dimension Singers Psalm 2:1-8 Read in unison Why do the nations conspire, and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and his anointed, saying, Let us burst their bonds asunder, and cast their cords from us. He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord has them in derision. Then he will speak to them in his wrath, and terrify them in his fury, saying, I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill. I will tell of the decree of the Lord: He said to me, You are my son; today I have begotten you. Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession. Hymn Be Thou My Vision slane 4
5 Children s Time: Presentation of Bibles to Third Graders Return to seats as we sing stanzas 3, 4 Gospel Luke 9: Riches I heed not, nor vain empty praise, Thou mine inheritance, now and always: Thou and Thou only, first in my heart, Great God of Heaven, my treasure Thou art. 4. Light of my soul, after victory won, May I reach heaven s joys, O heaven s Sun! Heart of my own heart, whatever befall, Still be my vision, O Ruler of all. Glory to you, O Lord. Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. Just as they were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah not knowing what he said. While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. Then from the cloud came a voice that said, This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him! When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen. Praise to you, O Christ. 5
6 Apostles Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen Hymn Beautiful Savior schönster herr jesu Men: Women: 6
