Antonio's desk ADVENT KONKRETNIH ODLUKA DRUGA NEDJELJA DOŠAŠA Iako Sveto Pismo samo po sebi nije povijesna Knjiga, sveti su pisci vrlo esto onu Rije od Boga objavljenu prožimali povijesnim podatcima o vremenu, mjestu ili ljudima koji su krojili sudbinu Božjega naroda. inili su to u želji da pokažu kako se Božje djelo spasenja ovjeka dogaalo u odreenom vremenu, u stvarnim mjestima i meu konkretnim ljudima. Sveti nam Luka tako danas govori o Ivanu Krstitelju, smještajui ga u tono odreeni vremenski i prostorni kontekst. I uistinu, Bog Saveza, Bog u kojega mi kršani vjerujemo i koga ispovijedamo, Bog je konkretne ljudske stvarnosti. On nije neki daleki i nepoznati stranac koji ne bi imao ni osjeaja ni suuti za našu ljudsku svakodnevnicu, nego je on Bog koji je k nama sišao kako bi iskusio sve ono što je naše ljudsko i kako bi našem ljudskom iskustvu dao biljeg svoje božanske vjenosti. Bog koji nam u Božiu objavljuje svoju ljubav želi da i svoju ljubav i vjernost Njemu posvjedoimo u svakodnevnici života; u tono odreenom vremenu ovome jedinome koje imamo; u stvarnome mjestu mjestu u kojemu živimo i jesmo; meu konkretnim ljudima meu onima s kojima dijelimo svoje dane i svoje živote. ujemo li taj Božji glas što nam progovara u propovijedi svetoga Ivana Krstitelja dok glasno poziva: Pripravite put Gospodinu, poravnite mu staze!

Ferro, 75, husband of Linda (nee Fritz); father of Tracy (Jeffrey) Terrana, Melissa (Mark) Miller and Lindsey (Joe) Recchia; grandfather of Anthony Miller, Alexis Terrana and Sophia Miller; son of the late Virginia and Joseph Ferro; brother of Carol (Ron) Arnashus, Virginia (late Frank) Vulich, Linda (late William) Crot, Richard (Janice) and Robert (Theresa); Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Thomas was buried on Thursay,, Nov 29 at St. Mary Cemetery, after the mass of burial was celebrated in our church. May he rest in peace! FEAST OF SANTA LUCIA On Thursday, December 13, our neighbors from Santa Lucia/Santa Maria Incoronata celebrate the feast day of St. Lucy - patron saint of our parish. On that day, we will celebrate two Masses: at Santa Lucia church: 8:15 a.m. and 7 p.m. The main celebrant for the evening mass will be Fr. Joe Grbeš. Please come and show our frienda from Santa Lucia our respect and a warm welcome to St. Jerome Parish community. PARISH CONFESSIONS On Sunday, December 23, at 6 p.m. we will have several priests available for the sacrament of reconciliation. Amid all our preparations for Christmas, we should not forget the priority of preparing our souls. OFFERTORY ENVELOPES Soon you will be able to take your box of envelopes for year They will be prepared in the entrance area of the church. Please, let us know if you are regular parishioner but without offertory envelopes. VISITING SICK AND HOMEBOUND We would like to visit our sick and homebound parishioners before Christmas. Let us know if there is someone at home, in hospital or somewhere else who desires the Sacraments, so that we can visit them. CHRISTMAS FLOWERS If you would like to make a donation in memory of your loved ones or in thanksgiving for special events in your live, please, see Mary and Louis Scalise, Jan and Kenny Zekich or call our Parish Office. CHRISTMAS CHURCH CLEANING On Tuesday, December 18, at 7 p.m. we will be cleaning our church and preparing it for Christmas. Please join us and let us make our spiritual home ready for the Coming of our Lord. BREAKFAST WITH SANTA A big thank you to all of you who came and supported our Breakfast with Santa Fundraiser. CHRISTMAS CONFESSION Christmas confession for our school students, parents and staff will be on Tuesday, December 18 at 9 a.m. This is an important step in our preparation for the Coming of our Lord! OPEN HOUSE & SCHOOL TOUR On Wednesday, December 12 our School will be open for all the visitors who want to experience what St. Jerome is offering. Spread the news among your friends and family and let us make our school even stronger. Looking forward to see you all on December 12th. CHRISTMAS PROGRAM On Thursday, December 20, St. Jerome School will be hosting a Christmas Program in our church. Program starts at 7pm. Welcome! PROUD OF OUR ALUMNI St. Jerome School has always been an institution with the highest academic standards. We are happy that our students doing great in their high school education. Rocco C. Arcieri, D. D. DeFalco, Franko M. Galvan, Anthony C. LoCoco, Angela M. Lunn, Maeve M. Mangan, Mialma A. Mitchell, Michael C. Passarelli and Anastasia Yarus made the honor roll at De La Salle for the first quarter. Angelina Caruso made a first honor at Trinity High School. Congratulations! You made us all proud! ST. JEROME GOES GREEN We have implemented recycling at school for the children to be aware of what is waste and what is recyclable. Each class has their own recycle bin. Our next step is to participate in Crayola Color Cycle. They turn used markers into energy (ANY BRAND). The markers are sent to facility where they are converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals etc. It also keeps tons of plastic out of landfills. Our goal is to collect 1000 markers by Christmas. Drop-off boxes are located in school and in the back of church. Thank you in advance for helping us save the earth.
