3 Announcements Last Sunday s Sermon Summary The goal of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter and every other religious order or society is for its members to have access to Christ and achieve heaven. The members of the parish of North American Martyrs, which the FSSP has committed itself to, are offered the same means of accessing Christ and of attaining the goal of heaven: Mass and Sacraments. Everything done in the parish must be done with that goal in mind. Every catechism class, parish group meeting, social event, etc., must have Christ as its goal. Christ, in turn, is aware of our parish and our needs. It is His will that we have access to Him and work towards our goal of heaven in our present circumstances. He allows inconveniences, such as not having a church, because there is a particular grace that He desires us to have by remaining willing and docile. Feast Day this Week: St. Clement November 23rd St. Clement is said to have been a convert of noble birth, and to have been consecrated bishop by St. Peter himself. With the words of the apostles still ringing in his ears, he began to rule the Church of God; and thus he was among the first, as he was among the most illustrious, in the long line of those who have held the place and power of Peter. He lived at the same time and in the same city with Domitian, the persecutor of the Church; and besides external foes he had to contend with schism and rebellion from within. The Corinthian Church was torn by intestine strife, and its members set the authority of their clergy at defiance. It was then that St. Clement interfered in the plenitude of his apostolic authority, and sent his famous epistle to the Corinthians. He urged the duties of charity, and above all of submission to the clergy. He did not speak in vain; peace and order were restored. St. Clement had done his work on earth, and shortly after sealed with his blood the 3 Faith which he had learned from Peter and taught to the nations. Fr. Insco Away Fr. Insco will be away from Friday, November 23rd, until Tuesday, December 11th. Young Adults: Philip Neri Next meeting on December 1st for young adults For more information contact Carmela Evans. Choir Interest There is always a need for more voices in our choir! Our choir director, Marie Emmanuel Lyon, will meet in the McGrath Room after the 11:45 Mass on December 2nd with anyone who is interested in learning more about the choir AND to discuss the possibility of forming a 2nd parish choir with practices held in more convenient location for families in the north. Fundraiser Our pilgrims to Chartres will be raising funds for the next several months to offset the cost of the trip. For this purpose, there will be cookie dough and snacks after Mass today and next Sunday, November 25th. Our Lady of Guadalupe Potluck If you d like to be a lead volunteer for the December 9th, Our Lady of Guadalupe Potluck, please contact Father Heffernan. Volunteers can sign up at signupgenius.com/findasignup and use maryfrench.nam@gmail.com for the search. 5 Marian Hymn All weekend Masses at North American Martyrs Parish will conclude with the seasonal hymn to the Blessed Virgin Mary that, through her intercession, God will bless North American Martyrs Parish with a church. The Salve Regina is sung from Trinity Sunday until Advent Daily Prayer for the Pope V. Let us pray for Francis our Pope R. May the Lord preserve him, and give him life, and make him blessed upon the earth, and deliver him not up to the will of his enemies. Our Father. Hail Mary. Let us pray. O God, Shepherd and Ruler of all Thy faithful people, look mercifully upon Thy servant Francis, whom Thou hast chosen as shepherd to preside over Thy Church: grant him, we beseech Thee, that, by his word and example, he may edify those over whom he has charge, so that together with the flock committed to him, he may attain everlasting life. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen. 5
