Charlie Gard, suffering from a rare disease, was taken off a respirator against his parents will and subsequently died. This is the sorry state the world is in because of government overreach and a declining civilization fostered by the contraceptive and abortion mentality. Now the elderly are at risk with the legalization of euthanasia in some states. Pope Paul VI in his prophetic 1968 encyclical Humanae vitae predicted that with the allowance of artificial birth control individuals, families and society would be damaged. He predicted an increase in abortions (a backup for failed contraception), infidelity among spouses, an increase in divorce, and the objectification of women. All these things have come to pass. Pope Paul was ridiculed and ignored by nearly everyone. Even some Catholic bishops turned their backs on the pope. Now he is nearing sainthood while his betrayers are cast into the dustbin of history and perhaps will suffer far worse in eternity. To be a true Catholic is to accept all that God has revealed to us through His Son Jesus and Christ and the only church Jesus established. Christians do not pick and choose what they want to believe, that s where the word heretic comes from. The last few generations will have a lot to answer for. It is no wonder that respect in church for our Lord in the tabernacle and in the blessed Eucharist has been lost. In order to try to restore respect we will try in this parish to follow, as I have tried to do, the norms for Mass. One such area will be the chanting of the propers of the Mass, for example the introit. We currently sing the introit before the beginning of Mass but we will begin to use the introit during the entrance procession. A hymn that all can sing will follow. The introit is particular to the Mass being offered and so helps to focus our prayers. It will also help bring the mystery and awe back to our Worship of God Almighty. Mass is not about the people, the choir or the priest but about God. In Jesus and Mary, Fr. Frank Samoylo
