6 Canon Tony Ford was ordained a Catholic priest on May 23, 1964, for the Archdiocese of Southwark, England. He began serving in the Diocese of St. Augustine during the winter months in He provided the parishes in St. Augustine assistance in taking care of the spiritual needs of the faithful. In 2014, he celebrated his golden jubilee as a priest while in St. Augustine. Several priests were in attendance, including some of his brother priests from Great Britain. Father Tony served as a priest in parishes for more than 50 years and held several positions with the Archdiocese of Southwark, for which he received many accolades. He was a certified counselor in marriages and marriage preparation. He served eight years as a national training officer for Marriage Care, formerly known as the Catholic Marriage Advisory Council. He also served as Episcopal Vicar for marriage and family life and as the European training officer for the Ministry to Priests. For 10 years, he was a visiting professor of pastoral theology at St. John's Senior Seminary. He was appointed Canon of the Archdiocese of Southwark. He earned his bachelor's degree in human relations from the Richmond Fellowship in England and a master's degree in pastoral studies from Loyola University in Chicago. Father Tony considered his role as a marriage counselor to be a highlight of his priestly experiences and a major contribution to Church members. He is survived by his brothers, Philip and Nicholas; sisters, Veronica and Patricia; and his extended loving family of Jeremy, JoAnn, Emily, Harrison, Eli, Harvey, Sue, Benjamin and Alexander Maurice. k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k
