1 Bios of the Tashi Kyil USA Tour Following are brief biographical sketches of the seven monks who will be touring the USA in Ven. Kalsang Gyatso, Ven. Yeshi Tsultrim, Ven. Lobsang Manjushri, and Ven. Yeshi Ragyal were members of previous Tashi Kyil Tour.. We are happy to have such experienced monks as part of this new tour group. Please welcome all of the monks to the USA. We know that when you have the opportunity to meet them, you will enjoy their happy, cheerful company. You will never forget their kindness. P.S. Some of the pictures of the monks are passport pictures and make those monks look pretty dour. As soon as the monks arrive in the USA, we will take pictures that are more attractive.
2 Name: Yeshi Rabgyal Date of Birth: 12/01/1979 I.C. Y Yeshi is the Tour's Leader. He was born on 1 st December 1979 in Dehradun. His father name is Dasang Gyatso and mother is Youdon. In at the age of eight, he joined Tashi Kyil Monastery. Yeshi Rabgyal was ordained by Geshi Kalsang at Tashi Kyil Monastery in Clement Town. Then his teacher taught him to read and write the Tibetan alphabet. Yeshi Rabgyal learned by studying hard and practicing daily the monastery s rituals and prayers. After a short period, he began to study Tibetan Buddhist philosophy that includes the Six Perfection of Wisdom. His studies in the monastery have continued for the past 30 years. In addition, he has studied English. He is very expert with the computer. Yeshi Rabgyal worked as the manager in the monastery Yeshi Rabgyal was a member of 2013 tour. This is his second trip to the USA. Please welcome him back to the USA.
3 Kalsang Name : Kalsang Gyatso Passport No: Y Dare of birth: 01/07/1981 Kalsang Gyatso was born in Dhomey in Tibet in the year His father name is Sangye and his mother s name is Dolmatso. In Tibet the year 1993 he was created a monk in Shetsang Ghasar Monastery when he was 13 years old. He began to study to read and writes Tibetan grammar and language in monastery. He studied Tibetan Buddhist philosophy In Shetsang Ghasar monastery until i2000. When his age of 20 he hiked across the Himalayan Mountains and arrived in India as a refugee in Then he entered Tashi Kyil Monastery to study Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. He served for two years as the monastery s a disciplinarian to look after the monks. Kalsang was a member of both the 2001, 2013, and Tashi Kyill Tour groups. Please welcome him back to the USA.
4 Yeshi Name : Yeshi Tsultrim Passport No: Date of Birth: Yeshi Tsultrim was born in Manali in the year His late father name s Chopodhar and mother name s Sopa Dolma. In 1971 at the age of ten he was created a monk in Tashi Kyil Monastery Tibetan Colony Clement Town. He first began to study to read and write Tibetan language. Slowly he studied to begin prayer of ritual monastery after that I finished. At the age of 16 he studied Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. He has served the monastery for 37 years at Tashi Kyil Yeshi was a member of the 2011, the 2013, and the tours. Please welcome him back to the USA
5 Lobsang Manjushri (Bhanu Pratap Singh) Passport No: K Date of Birth: 02/18/1986 Lobsang Manjushri (Bhanu Pratap Singh) was born on February 18, 1986 in Uttarkashi, Uttarkhand State. His father is Raj Badhadur Singh and his mother is Subjadra. At the age of eleven in 1997, he entered Tashi Kyil Monastery in Clement Town. He began to study the Tibetan alphabet and reading and writing. After he entered the monastery, he studied Buddhist prayers and rituals. At the age of 14, he began to study Buddhist philosophy (religion). He has studied Buddhism for the past 17 years and is currently studying the Prajanparamita (Perfection of Wisdom). In 2011, he also joined for two years the Hindi Sanskrit workshop at the Central University of Tibetan Studies in Sarnath, Varanasi. Presently, he has been teaching English and Hindi grammar to the small monks in the monastery. He was a member of the Tashi Kyil Tour. Welcome him back to the USA.
6 Tenzin Gyatso Passport No: P Date of Birth: 12/06/1989 Tenzin Gyatso was born on December 6, 1989 In Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh State. His father is Arjn Singh and his mother is Mal Kumari. When he was twelve years old, he received permission from his parents to become a monk. After that in 2001, he entered Tashi Kyil Monastery. He began to study the Tibetan alphabet and reading and writing. He immersed himself in the study of Tibetan Buddhist prayers and rituals. Tenzin Gyatso has been studying Buddhist philosophy (religion) and monastic debate since he was fourteen years old (14 years). In addition, he has studied Hindi and English. He has volunteered to join the Tashi Kyil Tour for the benefit of all sentient beings by teaching the public about Wisdom and Compassion. He also wishes to assist his monastery and further the education of the young monks at Tashi Kyil
7 Kalsang Jinpa Passport No: Y Date of Birth: 07/10/1970 Kalsang Jinpa was born on July 10, 1970 in Suko, Tibet. At the age of 12 in 1982, his parents sent him to Labrang Tashi Kyil Monastery (in Tibet) to become a monk. In 2009, he traveled to India to become a refugee monk in Tashi Kyil in Dehra Dun, India. He has studied Buddhist philosophy (religion) and Buddhist rituals for 33 years. He is very capable to join the USA Tashi Kyil Tour.
8 Lobsang Namgyal I.C. #Y Date of Birth: January 6, 1979 Lobsang Namgyal is a monk from Drepung Gomang Monastery, located in south India. He has kindly consented to be the teacher of the Tashi Kyil USA Tour. He was born in Mundgod, India on January 6, 1979 and is the son of Tseahar Bum and Bumocho. Until he was 8 years old, he lived with his parents. Then from 1987 to 1994 he studied at a school in Mundgod. When he was 15, he left this school and returned home to work with his parents. Then in 1998, when he was 19 years old, he entered Drepung Gomang Monastery where he was ordained a monk and studied Buddhist Philosophy. From 2009 to 2013, he worked as a teacher at the monastery s school. In 2013, he went to McLeod Ganj in Dharamsala where he studied and taught Buddhist Philosophy. He has been selected as a monk of the Tashi Kyil Tour on merit of his various skills and expertise in Tibetan Buddhist Religious Studies, Buddhist Monastic Rituals and Chants, Religious Dance, and Tibetan Cultural Arts. Although he had been continuing his studies in Dharamsala and is going on the Tashi Kyi Tour, he remains a member in good standing of Drepung Gomang Monastery.
