(IF MARRIED OR LIVING WITH PARTNER IN Q.24) We would like to know about donations made by you or (husband/wife/spouse/partner). Charitable organizations include non-profit or religious organizations that help those in need or that serve and support the public interest. They range in size from national organizations like the United Way, Catholic Charities, charities run by Protestant and other Christian groups, Jewish Federations, Islamic charities, and the American Red Cross down to local community organizations. They serve a variety of purposes such as, helping people in need, health care and medical research, which includes cancer charities, education, which includes universities schools, and religious schools, arts, social advocacy, religious activity (which includes churches, synagogues, mosques) environment, and international aid. Our definition of charity does not include contributions to political parties, candidates for public office, lobbying groups, or political action committees. Donations include any gifts of money, assets, or property/goods made directly to the organization, through payroll deduction, on the Internet, or collected by other means on behalf of the charity. The following questions are limited to donations made during the past year. This is a confidential and anonymous research study. We are not selling anything, and we are not asking for contributions.
