1 Revelation without Deception Lesson 1: How to Receive More Supernatural Revelation Through All Six of Your Senses With Dr. James Goll Dr. James Goll: Hey I'm James Goll, and I'm with God Encounters Ministries and I believe that God encounters are for everyone and that means you. I have the privilege of bringing to you a video lesson that is about you, it is for you and your personal relationship with God you learning to receive revelation from God without fear of being deceived by the enemy. This is about you discovering how to respond to divine revelation, once you ve received it and then how to reach maximum impact of what you have already received. Likely, the reason that you're watching this video right now is that you have personally experienced God in your past, but it could be that somewhere along the way, things got off track or maybe went wrong. Or, that you don't feel like you have yet reached your full potential. Well join the crowd, I m hungry too, how about yeah, how about you? Has you now ever wondered? Have you questioned? Let me give you some questions that you and I have probably both pondered about. How can I receive more revelation from God? How can I know if something I do supernaturally receive, if it is from God, from the powers of darkness, from the devil or from my own flesh. And then a third question that you ve probably been pondering as I have, once I have received revelation and I know it is from God, how should I appropriately respond to it? Well the big problem this first lesson addresses is, how to receive more supernatural revelation. This video series is set up in three parts, and this is a wonderful new free course designed just for you called, Revelation Without Deception; Essential Keys To Receiving, Discerning And Responding To The Supernatural. In these lessons that we're going to share together, I'm going to offer some answers to you to each of these three questions that we just looked at together. And my belief is that you're going to get as excited as I am by the answers,

2 because they're going to open new possibilities and new hope for you to experience God. Like you dream that you can and like perhaps you never have before. And even better, I'm going to give you practical tools that you can use to make sure, to make sure what? that you are receiving supernatural revelation from God through all of your senses. You're going to be able to easily receive from God without sweating, struggling, striving and straining. The promise of this first lesson and there ll be two more to follow is really quite simple. You can receive, discern, and respond to supernatural revelation from the Holy Spirit without mixture and without deception. By simply following these three simple stages I'm teaching you in these wonderful free video lessons. The three stages are, number one; surrendering all five yet six of your senses. Two; using the nine scriptural test of revelation and then number three, hold on it's really going to be worth going through this series for. Number three; answering the call to incarnational Christianity and you're already going, What s that? Well, stay tuned and you're going to find out. I'm going to teach you first of all in this first stage in this lesson, and then I'm going to share stages two and three in the following two segments. So here we go. We're going to take a 30,000 foot view look of our three lesson mini course. In this video, lesson one, you're going to discover how your life can progress severely and instantly. Turn from gray into vibrant color. Really, yes, hold on because I promise you, you're going to enjoy this ride. Once you have activated your senses to discern revelation from the Holy Spirit, you're going to find that you are experiencing God in new fresh ways. That may be you haven't before, or you have in the past and it's going to get activated to a new level. Then in lesson two, we are going to learn together about the nine scriptural test to revelation that comes to us. How to discern whether it's from what source of revelation it is, whether from God or some other source, these test will keep you grounded and they're going to be used to help you from this point on and the rest of your life and finally then, in lesson three. You are going to learn, yes. We are going to learn together a fail safe way to respond properly to Revelation by incarnating that word into your personal life. Well, are you ready to dig in to less than one? Now, I don't do anything without praying. For those of you know me, you know that's true. For those of you who are new to me, did you hear what I said? 3 right now, let's commit this video lesson to God. Father, we are asking for your help. And we say we are totally dependent upon you, the work of your Holy Spirit. We want your written word to be illuminated and brought with light to us, by the Holy Spirit [inaudible 00:07:49] and we re asking for help to drop the anchor at our ship, so that we can have a safe harbor. And so thank you for this time and for Holy Spirit and for Jesus being our teacher, our rabbi, right now. Thank you God. Amen. Well, how about this for an opening scripture. Romans Chapter 12, I love Romans 12 by the way verses 1 and 2. Therefore, I urge you brethren that s you by the way by the mercies, not by works. Let's read the script, let's read the verse. Therefore I urge you brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies By the way that is your whole being. Spirit, soul and body is what this is talking about. Therefore I urge you brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice acceptable to God. Which is folks, right now this is so amazing to me because when we present our whole being as a temple to God, He says this is an act, a spiritual service of worship. And then reading on in this verse in Romans 12, And do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may be able to prove what the will of God is. That which is come on now, don't you want to do this. Listen to what it's going to say now. That you'll be able to prove what the will of God is that which is good, acceptable and that which is perfect. That is the Word of God and that is a God encounter that is waiting just for you. Well, let me be a little personal with you in our beginnings. As I often say, we all begin somewhere. My own life, I have often used an illustration that there was a day it seemed like it exploded from a black and white old television set to vibrancy and color. My personal experience when everything seemed to become vibrant. That was a time when I got filled with the Holy Spirit, and when I did, it like the light got turned on in the father's house. By the way, we are the father's house if you've given your life to the Lord Jesus Christ. And light came on in the father's house, and it was no longer darkness. Don t get offended over what I m about to say are shades of gray. It became vibrant and my whole being, my whole life changed. From black and white to Omni-vision overnight. Do you want to stay on the level that you are? I Page 3 of 11

4 don t. Is there more? Yes, there is. How do highly gifted and empowered believers do what they do? By the way, I'm rather analytical and I ask God that I can experience, when I read this book, I pray this book and I ask God that I can experience everything that's in this book and that's the kind of journey we're going on together. How about this now, receiving revelation through all six of your senses. You say, Well, prove that to me in the Word of God. Thank you for doing that. For really a theme verse for this entire three-part series, here is a primary verse. That comes from Hebrews 5:14, watch this. Solid food is for the mature, how many of you out there want to raise your hand right now and say, I want to be in that company? Solid food is for the mature who because practice What? Who because of practice. You have to practice? Aha. There's lessons in the School of the Holy Spirit that we get to take. But solid food is for the mature who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil. Now some of us, only want to discern good and some of us seem to have a natural inclination to discern evil, or some of us, want to blot out the evil and some of us, maybe don't know that God the Father is really a good, good father. And every good and perfect gift the book of James says comes down from the Father of Light. That was additional by the way. But my theme verse, it's so important to me because it talks about practicing your five senses and then becoming trained to discern good and evil and both are equally important. Now, senses, would it be that one of those senses was common sense? But we know that we have five natural senses. So I'm going to quickly develop that in the natural, then in the spiritual. So let's look at these five natural senses that we're going to take practice sessions and lessons together in the School of the Holy Spirit together. Number one; we each have five senses. The first one; eyesight. Eyes, yes, seeing. By surrendering our natural senses and one of them is sight, eyesight. And through that gate of the eye, we can receive visions and dreams and an increase of the Spirit of revelation. How about this verse, it s one of my life verses. Ephesians 1: I pray that the eyes of your heart, will be enlightened. That you will know what is the hope. Isn t that awesome? We can know the hope. The positive expectation of good, we can know the hope of, not just your calling, his calling on your life. I pray right now that the eyes of your heart, we have more than one set of eyes by the way, I pray Page 4 of 11

5 that the eyes of your heart will be enlightened so that you might know what is the hope of his calling. What are the riches of the glory of the inheritance in the saint and what is the surpassing greatness of his power that comes upon us towards those who believe. His greatness within us, his power upon us and that the eyes of our heart become enlightened with revelation. So, my personal experience is, I maybe by gifting, maybe by the way I was raised. We don t always know for sure why, but I seemed to have a place where I could hear the Lord. But I hungered and I wanted to grow in the area of what I could see in the realms of the Holy Spirit. So, focusing the eyes of our heart upon God is the key. Focusing the eyes of our heart upon God causes us to become inwardly still and it then raises our level of faith and expectancy and it makes us fully open to receive more from God. Wow! But I like to unfold that point one, right there, but this is an overview, so let s just keep moving forward. That s sense number one, sight. Number two, ears, hearing the voice of God or Revelations chapter one says that, The voice of God is like the sound of many rushing waters. Wow! So ears, hearing voices and sounds. John chapter 16:13, again one of my favorite chapters in the whole Bible is John 16. But when he, the spirit of truth comes, he is going to guide you into all the truth. But whatever he hears, he speaks and he will disclose to you what is to come. By the way, would you repeat that verse right now out loud with me? But when he, the spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own initiative, but whatever he hears. He will speak and he will disclose to you, personalize it, he ll disclose to me what is to come. Now, I gave you a little verse also inserted from Revelations chapter one. Where John the beloved was on the Island of Patmos worshiping God on the Sabbath, and Yeshua Jesus appears to him and it says that, His voice was like the sound of many rushing waters. That shows us that the voice of God has many different expressions. So, God speaks to us in many ways. He ll speak to us; this isn t the fullness but it s an overview. God will speak to us through impressions and we have to learn to give expression to the impression. God will speak to us in many ways; he ll speak to us in impressions through the inner audible voice, through external audible voice, through other audible sounds. You say, Wait a second. We will develop this over time. Page 5 of 11

6 Impressions, inner audible, external audible, other audible sounds, the audible voices of Angels, number five. How about dream language which is one of the primary ways and inscriptions that God has spoken historically to his people. Number seven, visions, and there are many different levels of visions. Believe me, I ve studied this out, and there are at least 10 if not 12 different Greek words in the New Testament to describe to us different visionary states. Number seven, visions, and there many expressions. And eight, sounds of heaven being released on earth. But we remember this, in all of our learning and all of our hunger that the spirit of truth, he s the spirit of truth. There is no error in God. That the spirit of truth will lead you into all truth. Okay, moving on. A third sense, the heart. Wow, that is a big one. Touch, feelings, and emotions hold parts. I am not telling you to follow after and think to fight emotions. Remember where we started in Romans 12, we present ourselves to him and progressively our even soul, our being it becomes progressively cleansed and the filter of God and His word in place filters the mixture out. Proverbs 4:23 says, Watch over your heart with all diligence for from it flows the springs of life. That is so important. That is so important in my own life to watch over my heart. There re some foundational understandings now about feelings. Remember we re only doing an intro right now. But listen to these few five different points of scripture. Realize this about sin and about our heart and about feelings. Number one, Hebrews 3:13 says that sin has a consequence. Sin hardens the heart. Do you still fall short at times? I do, and so what do I need? The blood of Jesus to cleanse me and then to take the word of God and ask like Jeremiah for the word of God to go forth like a hammer and soften my heart, because sin hardens the heart. Number two, we are exalted in 1st John 2:15 to love not the word and there s a reason. Jeremiah 23:29, here and I just made reference to it earlier, God s word is a hammer and it will go forth and it shatters hard places. Because we each through life s journey, can be soft in one place and hard in another. We need to invite God s word and God s light into places of darkness. By the way, just because you feel like you hear God well in one area, doesn t mean you re an expert in them all, but we can learn to practice all of our senses. Page 6 of 11

7 Number three, Jeremiah 23:29, God s word is a hammer. How about 1st John 3:3 for a scripture point number four, Fix your hope on Him. Nothing can be added to that. It is so clear. We must fix our gaze and our hope on Him. And then how about 2nd Corinthians 7:1 and put it together first with 1st John 1:9. He cleanses us from all unrighteousness. Folks, this is a journey and there in the area of the heart and the feelings, it is one of the five senses that might take some of the most amount of process to get healed and thus to be able to hear and receive clearly. In my own personal approach in this area for years, many years, I ve take a time, three days typically in the fall around the day of the Talmud, the beginning of the new Hebrew year and I pray over the condition of my own heart and I m asking God to soften my heart, why? Because I still fall short of the glory of God and therefore that means sin has its consequence. I m going to go into the New Year with a clean slate like you and I m going to be able to hear God with all of my senses. Okay. How about the tongue? Really? Yeah. Taste, both good and bad. How about Psalms 119:103. How sweet are your words unto my taste? Yes, they are sweeter than honey to my mouth. Have you ever said anything like, Man, that just left a bad taste in my mouth? Could it be that your senses are having practice sessions on how to discern good and evil? It could be that there s something rotten going on or you might say, What? Then you ask the questions, Wait a second, what s the source of that bad taste? Perhaps it s showing that something needs to be healed in your life, in someone else s life, a generational issue, a territorial issue or in the geography, the neighborhood, maybe your church. The nose: See, these are the five senses. Now it s smell. Correlating spiritually and naturally, there are fragrances and aromas. 2nd Corinthians 2:14 reads. Thanks be to God who always leads us as captains in Christ in triumphal procession and uses us to do what? Spread the aroma of the knowledge of Him everywhere. I want to do that, don t you? So we also by surrendering all five senses and now we re on this fifth one which is smell. Guess what? You can be a heaven dog and sniff out the devil and you can learn to catch the trail or become a pointer and go, Oh! There s the cat. We can sniff out both good and evil. So here is a few important points to keep in focus concerning this fifth sense. Hey, good exalts God, evil ultimately exalts a person. Two; good will last the test of Page 7 of 11

8 time, evil rushes you and pushes you with a false urgency to fast conclusions. Three; good will align with the word of God. Evil paints way outside the lines folks and tries to make you think it s okay and it s not. Number four; Good promotes purity, evil allures you to anything other than purity and ultimately into perversity. Number five; good promotes solid doctrine, evil promotes twisted belief systems. Number six; good. We re talking about discerning good and evil. That s why I m going through this with you. I hope you didn t get lost in that. That s what these seven simple points are about. I m contrasting now discerning good and evil. What does good do? Good values community. I value relationships. I need people in my life to speak into my life and so do you, because good values community and evil promotes isolationism. Number seven; good values humility. One of my spiritual mentors who went to be with the Lord just in the last year C Peter Wagner, it was so funny. His goal was to write 66 books. He wanted to write as many books as there was in the Bible. Well, I want to be like C Peter Wagner, and I want to write 66 books. By the way I m not adding to the scriptures, nor was peter, but I m just telling you a funny little story that I remember right now. Because he wrote this book called Humility. Because that s my seventh point, good values humility. Peter tells some of us group of leaders, I d been working with him for a while. It was a descent level book that you sit like on a coffee table and it was in gold. Oh! My gosh, it was a classic cover for humility. I just loved this. Good values humility and Peter Wagner told us this about his book called humility. And he says, I m more proud of that book than any book I ever wrote. I thought it was funny. Good values, humility and evil results ultimately in a self-promotion and then into a form of, I m better. Into class order or to something called elitism. Good values, humility and evil results in elitism. Now, I just went over five senses, but if you realized there in the beginning of the section, I talked about six senses. Well, oh my, I ve had eight sense over years that there is six senses. I call the sixth sense knowing; it s divine knowings. It deals with our mind, surrendering our mind. We surrender our eyes, our ears, our tongue, our nose, our heart, our touch, and we must surrender our mind. Knowing; thoughts and impressions. 1st Corinthians 5:16 says, For who has known the mind of the Lord that he will instruct him, but we have the mind of Page 8 of 11

9 Christ. Now would you pause right now, and would you declare this out loud after me that, I have the mind of Christ. I didn t hear you, would you say this, this is the bible. Will you align with the word right now with me? Let s do it together, We have the mind of Christ. One more time, We have the mind of Christ. That s amazing. So in an Old Testament picture and lesson for us, one of the most famous verses in this area would be found in 1st Chronicles 12:31 talking about the sons of Issachar. And of the sons of Issachar, see I already love it; the teacher of this is just about to explode because this is about the joining of the generations. It wasn t just about Issachar, it was about the sons. Are you a son or a daughter of our father? The sons of Issachar, men who understood the times with knowledge of what Israel should do. Their chiefs were 200 and all of their kinsmen were at their command. Listen to this, the mind, divine knowings; they understood the times with knowledge of what Israel should do and they taught them applications of how to discern the times and how to properly live in those times. We need that realm today. Divine knowings, they can take on many different forms, shapes like maybe names, dates, locations, pains, words of edification, exhortations, comfort, supernatural serge of faith, a perceiving of the motivational spirit behind a certain manifestation. This goes over to so many different other teachings that I ve done. Whether it s on like the gift of discerning a spirit, or the gift of prophesying things and that nature. Let s just keep pressing forward. What do we need to do? We need to go back to the very verse that we started with, Romans 12:1-2, because we read the verse but we didn t pause to do anything with the verse. So let s go back now to presenting our senses to the Holy Spirit. The theme verse, Romans 12:1-2, Therefore I urge you brethren by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and a holy sacrifice acceptable to God which is your spiritual service of worship and do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you might be able to prove what the Remember? Will of God is. That which is what? It says three things; the will of God includes these three things; what is good, what is acceptable and even that which is excellent or perfect. Remember this as we begin to wind down this first opening session, there are no perfect starts. I m a dad, helped raise four children. I remember big Page 9 of 11

10 wheeled tricycles. I remember bicycles with training wheels. Did you hear what I said? Training wheels. I can see it right now living in Lecoma, Missouri, on Evergreen Lane. I can see Grace Ann with her big pink or turquoise, big wheeled trike. It was so fun and I remember with my sons, helping them on the bicycle there were training wheels. I m right there with them, with my hand there, still like on the seat with them. As they re going, trying to learn how to wobbly go, and then eventually you might take I took one training wheel off so they could still like have a little bit of approach. Then how awesome it is for a father to take both training wheels off by the way it s more awesome for the kid than it is for the father. Did you hear that? It s more awesome for the one who s learning than even the one who s teaching. What a joyful day it is when the training wheels are off. You still have your hand there, and then you take your hand off and they go a little laze and they crash. You re right there, like a good, good father is to help them. They might cry a little, It hurts. You know what a good daddy does? Says, Well let s take care of it and let s try again. There s no perfect start, we all need practice sessions. So join me now in surrendering our senses to the Holy Spirit because this is one of the greatest adventures into the supernatural and natural ways of God that you can go on. Let s pray together now, Father, in Jesus great name, we present our entire beings to you as an act of obedience and worship. We surrender our five natural senses to you right now. Our sight, our hearing, our smell, our taste, our touch. Holy Spirit release your life giving presence upon us in a fresh manner. We need your touch upon our lives and we desire to increase and the anointing of the Holy Spirit to flow in a higher level and to receive and release the gifts of the Holy Spirit. So here we are Lord, all that we are. Here we are Lord, all that we are and all that we hope to be. We surrender all of our senses and yes, our sixth sense of knowing as instruments of righteousness. For Jesus Christ s sake and somebody say and some of you might shout, Amen and Amen. Wow, that was quick and pretty pretty good. Okay, we ve covered some groundwork now in lesson one, but what have we accomplished? You might need to go over this a few times. You now know that there s a solid foundation in how God may desire to speak to you through each of your six senses. We looked at how you can begin to sniff out good versus evil. How you can also surrender each of these senses to the Holy Spirit asking Him, to anoint them to receive more Page 10 of 11

11 revelation. More of his voice, more of his presence, more of his giftings from him. We took a basic look at the first of the three stages of receiving, discerning and responding to supernatural revelation, which is surrendering all six of our senses. The next question then is, how do you know if you ve received from God, the devil or your flesh? Well I m not going to answer that right now, that s why this is a mini-series. So in the next video, lesson number two, we re going to continue on our journey together and I m going to give you nine scriptural test for revelation. I have taught this around the world, I ve taught this for 35 years. I remember teaching this in Kansas City, before ever taught at Nashville, before I ever wrote it in any books. This works, and the next lesson we re going to do nine scriptural texts for Revelation. This will give you a sure way that you can make sure that what you are receiving really is from God.
