As a young child he started writing short stories. And he published some several stories before the World War 2. His first Story was started by Whit Burnett. The Catcher in the Rye is a novel made published in 1951 by Jerome David Salinger. It was originally published for adults. But it has since become popular with adolescent readers, because it has things like language, angst teenage confusion etc. It has been translated into all major languages and they are around 250,000 copies sold for each Year. The major character Holden Caulfield has become a famous icon for the teenage rebellion.

The Story is about a boy called Holden Caulfield who switched school in New York. And like every teenager in the puberty he has problems and wants to solve it in his own way.

It s terrible Chapter 3 In this quote Holden is introducing himself to the reader. Because this quote has manly two meanings. First he is being for the first time really onest to the reader because he is saying that he lies, and second, he is warning the reader that he is lying a lot. Who wants flowers when you re dead? Nobody. Chapter 20 In this quote Holden reflects on the idea of dying, and how he thinks about that cemeteries don t make any sense. In another way of, Holden is trying to show us that he thinks no one is going to miss him, and would feel embarrassed if he was in a cemetery and no one would put flowers to him on Sundays. He also tries to show how much he cares and how he considers Sally Hayes a good friend, as he tries to spend his money on having a good time with her My opinion about the Book! The Catcher in the Rye is a book about a boy called Holden Caulfield who tries to live with no Help. He switches to a school in New York and that makes it interesting. I really like it that in this book is a lot of humour. For example that Holden says so much funny quotes. I would recommend the book to teenagers. It is really funny and the themes are not that boring. 5 Journals! Holden! Journal 1 Friend, which reminds me of fun. Fun, which reminds me of having a good time. Having a good time which reminds me of summer holidays. Summer holidays, which reminds me of being free. Journal 2 Holden is always having his hat on. The colour of his hat is red. The hat is made for the winter. He is having his hat the normal way on ort he other way around. It makes him different to bet he only one in the school whit that red hat. Journal 3 My first Week was miserable. It killed me that I saw so many morons in my School. That wasn t funny at all. They are so annoying and yeah that s not going to be nice for me. Journal 4 I think Holden was to shy to speak with Jane. The reason is why he was so shy is because he loves her really much and it would be harder if he speaks with her again because than he has to think about her again. And that makes it for it for him really hard because he would get sad again and he would miss her more. Journal 5

6 In the Book, when it says that Holden, is speaking to someone else in the Train. He was saying that he is Rudolf Schmidt. I think Holden is saying that because he wants that no one knows what he does. Journal 6 In my life there is a person who I would always call for help. The person is my dad. For a teenager it sounds a bit weird to call his dad as a person who I trust mostly. But the reason is why I would call my dad is because he never failed on helping me. When I have some problems he is the only one who is most interested. We have some same taste. For example we like to got eat pizza together. Or we go together swimming. Journal 7 Unreliable Narrator / The Narrator wants to make you believe him when he is saying not the truth or is letting things out of a situation. Holden is not saying the truth always. So he is an Unreliable narrator. For Example when he called the girl from Princeton College at midnight. He was saying that he is on the same school and would know people like a guy called Eddie. Journal 8 Holden always goes to the Museum because of an important point. He used to go as a child with his young sister to the Museum. If I would be the Narrator of the Book, I would always go to the Park. The reason is why I would go there is because, as a child I

7 always played there with my friends and my family. And those Memories make me feel happy. Journal 9 Fuck You is a bad word. People always say it to someone if they are angry to the person. I know it was Mr. Brightman. I think that Holden got sick when he saw that. Because when he saw that he was thinking why would you do that in this place? Journal 10 Holden has a lot of Sings and Symptoms of Depression. He has Emotional, Physical, Behavioural and Thought/Perceptions Depressions. For example he speaks often so hopelessness or he has Loss of Motivation. I never meet a guy with those Depressions. But I heard that this makes someone feel really bad. Journal 11 I think it is not possible to go the same way like Holden that no one knows where he is. You can t just leave a place and let no one know about it. It is always the best to solve his problems with his best friend. But running away like Holden Caulfield is childish!
