1 Today is Day 20: Having a Relationship with God. I love you. We are moving into Week 3 now - which is about relationships. The most important relationship you have is with yourself and with God, which is the same identical thing. God = Love. When you get your relationship with God right, all your other relationships automatically begin to work because your relationship with God is THE ONLY RELATIONSHIP THERE IS. Everything else

2 is a reflection of that One relationship. A Course in Miracles is a way to know your Self as One with God, One with Everyone and everything. I want you to think about Relationships today. If you break the word relationships down you will see that it contains the word RELATION.. RELATE.. RELATING - which means TO BE CONNECTED. Most people when they think of "relationships" they think of romantic relationships, or family relationships or work relationships. They think of bodies and people. But a relationship is the way you RELATE to all the things around you.

3 A Course in Miracles is a fast track to bring you back to the awareness of your Oneness with everyone and everything. How do you relate to people? How do you relate to yourself? How do you relate with the space around you? How do you relate to people and situations and thoughts? These are the relationships you have. Today I want you to think about relationships and to think about your relationship with God. In order to do this, you need to ask yourself... WHAT IS GOD? I want you to look at this question today. Ask in sincerity to be shown. Don't go by what other people have told you about God, and don't go by what the books say about God. YOU FIND OUT! Go to God directly, and find out first-hand Who or What God is.

4 GOD CAN BE REACHED DIRECTLY. Spend quiet time in prayer and meditation with this idea. Get a sense of what it means to be in an intimate relationship with yourself, in a Divine Romance. Like any good relationship in which you were getting to know a person, you would spend time with them. You would give your undivided attention. You would make time to get to know them. You would be totally focused. It is quite possible to reach God. You are trying to reach past thoughts of the world. You are trying to leave appearances and approach reality. -A Course in Miracles A Course in Miracles continually says your relationship with God is a COMPANIONSHIP. GOD IS YOUR COMPANION. It is quite possible to reach God. In fact IT IS VERY EASY because it is the most natural thing in the world. You might even say it is the ONLY natural thing in the world. The way will open if you believe it s possible. -A Course in Miracles Keep concentrating on this idea throughout the day. GOD GOES WITH ME WHEREVER I GO. HE S MY MIGHTY COMPANION. HIS WILL FOR ME IS

5 PERFECT HAPPINESS. Today s idea will eventually overcome completely your sense of loneliness and abandonment. -A Course in Miracles I want you to think about what God is to you.

6 What are all the ideas and beliefs you have? God is Love, God is Joy. God is Peace. God is Universal Communication. God is Power. God is One. God is Creative Principle. In the Bible, Jesus is often saying God is our Father. יהוה is: But look at the original word he used in Aramaic. Here it It s not father at all. In English it translates to YHWH. One of the translations is Lord, the Source of all Being, Necessary Being. When God commissioned Moses to be Israel s liberator from the bondage of Pharaoh s Egypt, he asked for God s Name in order to validate his God-given role to the children of Israel (Exodus 3:14). God answered Moses, ehyeh-asher-ehyeh : The phrase ehyeh asher ehyeh translates to I AM THAT, I AM or I WILL THAT, I WILL. There is a comma in there. It derives from the imperfect first person form of the verb hayah: I will be, and therefore indicates a connection between the Name YHWH and Being itself. I LOVE THAT!!! YHWH is the Source of all being and has Being. Everything else is contingent being that derives existence from Him. The name YHWH

7 also bespeaks the utter transcendence of God. In Himself, God is beyond all attributes of language: He is the Source and Foundation of all possibility and is beyond all description. Where things started to really change for me was when I stopped thinking of God as a person outside of me, when I stopped thinking of God as Him. God is Love, therefore so am I. I am Love. The Holy Instant And Real Relationships A Course in Miracles The holy instant does not REPLACE the need for learning, for the Holy Spirit must not leave you as your Teacher, until the holy instant has extended far beyond time. For a teaching assignment such as His, He must use EVERYTHING in this world for your release. He must side with EVERY sign or token of your willingness to learn of Him what truth MUST be. He is swift to utilize WHATEVER you offer Him, on behalf of this. His concern and care for you are limitless. In the face of your fear of forgiveness, which He perceives as clearly as He knows forgiveness IS release, He will teach you to remember always that forgiveness is NOT loss, BUT YOUR SALVATION. And that, in COMPLETE forgiveness, in which you recognize that there is nothing to forgive, YOU are absolved completely. Hear him gladly, and learn of Him that you have need of no special relationships at all. You but seek in them what you have THROWN AWAY. And, through THEM, you will never learn the value of what you have cast aside, but what you still desire with all your hearts. Let us join together in making the holy instant all that there is, by desiring that it BE all that there is. God's Son has such great need of

8 your willingness to strive for this, that you cannot conceive of need so great. Behold the only need that God and His Son share, and will to meet together. You are NOT alone in this. The will of your creations call to you, to share your will with them. Turn, then, in peace, from guilt to God and them. Relate only with what will never LEAVE you, and what YOU cannot leave. The loneliness of God's Son is the loneliness of his Father. Refuse not the awareness of your completion, and seek not to restore it to yourselves. Fear not to give redemption over to your Redeemer's love. He will NOT fail you, for He comes from One Who CANNOT fail. Accept YOUR sense of failure, as nothing more than a mistake in WHO YOU WERE. For the holy host of God is BEYOND failure, and NOTHING that he wills can be denied. You are forever in a relationship so holy, that it calls to everyone to ESCAPE from loneliness, and join you in your Love. And where YOU are must everyone seek, and FIND you there. Think but an instant on this; God gave the Sonship to you, to ensure your perfect creation. This was His Gift, for, as He withheld Himself not from you, He withheld not His creation. Nothing that ever was created, but is not yours. Your relationships are with the universe. And this universe, being of God, is far beyond the petty sum of all the separate bodies YOU perceive. For all its parts are joined in God through Christ, where they become like to their Father. For Christ knows of no separation FROM His Father, Who is His One relationship, in which He gives as His Father gives to Him. The Holy Spirit is God's attempt to free you of what He does not understand. And, because of the Source of the attempt, IT WILL SUCCEED. The Holy Spirit asks you to respond as God does, for He would teach you what YOU do not understand. God would respond to EVERY need, WHATEVER form it takes. And so He has kept this Channel open to receive His communication to you, AND YOURS TO HIM. God does NOT understand your problem in communication, for He does NOT share it with you. It is only YOU, who believe that it IS understandable. The Holy Spirit KNOWS that it is not understandable, and yet He UNDERSTANDS it, because you have MADE it. In Him alone, lies the

9 awareness of what God CANNOT know, and what YOU do NOT understand. It is His holy function to ACCEPT THEM BOTH, and, by removing EVERY element of DISagreement, to join them into one. He will do this, BECAUSE it is His function. Leave, then, what seems to you to be impossible, to Him Who knows it MUST be possible, because it is the Will of God. And let Him, Whose teaching is ONLY of God, teach you the ONLY meaning of relationships. For God Himself created the only relationship that HAS meaning, and that is His relationship with YOU. You can never suffer because the Source of all joy goes with you wherever you go. You can never be alone because the Source of all life goes with you wherever you go. Nothing can destroy your peace of mind because God goes with you wherever you go.

10 Think what this means: God goes with me wherever I go. Workbook Lesson 41 GOD GOES WITH ME WHEREVER I GO. Today s idea will eventually overcome completely the sense of loneliness and abandonment which all the separated ones experience. Depression is an inevitable consequence of separation. So are anxiety, worry, a deep sense of helplessness, misery, suffering and intense fear of loss. The separated ones have invented many cures for what they believe to be the ills of the world. But the one thing they do not do is to question the reality of the problem. Yet its effects cannot be cured because it is not real. The idea for today has the power to end all this foolishness forever. And foolishness it is, despite the serious and tragic forms it may take. Deep within you is everything that is perfect, ready to radiate through you and out into the whole world. It will cure all sorrow and pain and fear and loss because it will heal the mind that thought these things were real, and suffered out of its allegiance to these beliefs. You can never be deprived of your perfect holiness because its Source goes with you wherever you go. You can never suffer because the Source of all joy goes with you wherever you go. You can never be alone because the Source of all life goes with you wherever you go.
