VETERANS DAY CELEBRATION November 6, 6:30 PRE-SHOW video: Pictures Movie 10 minutes-certificate MAGGIE: Welcome to our Patriotic Celebration. We a have few things to share with you before our program begins. Concert Manners EVAN: Concert manners are easy to keep. Be quiet, don t talk and stay in your seat. Amore: No yelling, whistling or yelling out our names It would spoil the show-which would be a shame. BLYTHE: Make sure your children, big or small, know To stay with you and enjoy the show. WILL S.: So turn off your cellphones, we re ready to go We hope you love & enjoy our show! Star Spangled Banner and Pledge of Allegiance- BLYTHE: During the war of 1812, Francis Scott Key was on a boat in Baltimore Harbor. SCOUT: From there, he witnessed the bombing of the Fort McHenry by the British army. WILL S: All through the night, he caught glimpses of the American flag through the smoke and flashes of light from the bombing. Evan: In the morning, he was so thrilled to see the flag still flying that he was inspired to write a poem about it. Amore: The poem he wrote was later set to the tune of another song and eventually became America s national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner. Maggie: Please stand for the presentation of colors.
MAGGIE & JEREMIAH: PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE- "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER -Jill #1 SONG: ENTRANCE MUSIC-USA TUCKER EVAN: Listen very carefully, and maybe you will hear The hearts that beat throughout the land, from far away and near Amore: They re hearts that beat with fervor for the country that we share All across America, they re beating everywhere Scout: Perhaps you ll hear the rhythms in the cities and the streets Or maybe in the countryside, you ll hear the pulsing beats. Blythe: Perhaps you ll hear the thumping as we work and as we play Or maybe as we celebrate our Independence Day. Will S: Perhaps you ll hear it rising up to fill our hearts with pride When looking at the stars and strips and signing side by side Maggie: Seven stripes of boldest red, and six of purest white- A field of blue with fifty stars, America s delight. SONG: Heart of America LEPPER RILEY: Fifty different states joined together, all as one United by democracy and freedom hard won. MICAH: Fifty different stories from the land of the free Making them a part of our collective history BAILEY: From Virginia to Montana, from New Mexico to Maine Sometimes there s a feeling that we simply can t explain.
ELIZABETH: From Alaska to Hawaii, from Vermont to Idaho, It s a feeling that we share around the country as we go CHARLIE: From Washington to Texas, from New York to Delaware From north and south to east and west, we fell it everywhere CONNOR: It s a pride and sense of unity that comes from every state Together we are mighty, and together we are great. SONG: OUR STATES ARE GREAT! LEPPER Recognizing our Beloved Veterans-Chester Narrators HOLDEN: Citizenship does not come without responsibility. The freedoms we enjoy today did not come without a price. There were some who gave of their fortunes and lands and some who dedicated their lives for public service. CHARLOTTE: There were also many who left the comforts of home and family to defend our nation in far off lands. And there were far too many who made the supreme sacrifice for their country. BRADYN: The legacy of those who were willing to preserve, protect and defend our liberty lives on in those who serve our nation today in the many branches of our military. The debt we owe them can never be adequately paid and our gratitude never fully expressed. JENNA: It is fitting that we show our appreciation and pay tribute to the men and women of the armed forces of the United States of America. We ask that you please stand to be recognized when you hear your respective branch. #7 SONG: ARMED FORCES MEDLEY-enter from hallway doors
MULHERIN FLAG FOLDERS: BOY/CUB SCOUTS- I am Old Glory with a most beautiful message. I am the symbol of a country that has grown from a little group of thirteen colonies to a united nation of fifty states. A symbol of liberty and strength, I have traveled far and endured much to carry my message throughout the world. The first fold of our flag is a symbol of life. (Pause during the Fold) The second fold is a symbol of our belief in eternal life. (Pause during the Fold) The third fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans who gave a portion of their life for the defense of our country and to attain peace throughout the world. (Pause during the Fold) The fourth fold represents our trust in God. (Pause during the Fold) The fifth fold is a tribute to our country, the United States of America. (Pause during the Fold) The sixth fold is where our hearts lie. For it is with our hearts that we pledge our allegiance to the flag. (Pause during the Fold) The seventh fold is a tribute to our armed forces. For it is through the armed forces that we protect our country and our flag against all enemies. (Pause during the Fold) The eighth fold stands for the constitution of the United States of America. (Pause during the Fold) The ninth fold is a tribute to mothers, for it has been through their faith, love, loyalty and devotion that the character of a soldier has been molded. (Pause during the Fold) The tenth fold is a tribute to fathers, for they too have given their sons and daughters for the defense of our country. (Pause during the Fold) The eleventh fold represents the seal of King Solomon. (Pause during the Fold) The twelfth fold represents eternity. (Fold) When the flag is completely folded, the stars are on top, reminding us of our national motto, In God We Trust. (Pause as the troop displays the Flag) We present to you what is known as the military s most honored and cherished possession, the United States National Flag the flag which is the true emblem of our unity, our thoughts, our power, and our purpose as a nation. We accept it, protect it, guard it, and defend it with pride. On this day, we salute the men and women who have served their nation and its citizens; we salute and honor our American Veterans. (Flag Presented to Veteran-arranged ahead of time) #4 SONG: free like me

Those who are truly grateful do not forget the service that has been rendered for their sake. -George Bush Selene-Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.-abraham Lincoln Ella-We Americans of today, together with our allies, are passing through a period of supreme test.
