Chapter 1 : The Most Beautiful Poems in the English Language Inside the Heart of a Poet you will find that the key to sharing a heart worth loving is to share a love worth remembering. Read more Read less Prime Book Box for Kids. As big brothers go, Rob was a perfect pain in the ass. He showed spectacular acts of kindness coupled with infuriating, crazy-making behaviour. He had the heart of a poet and the soul of a prankster. When his family was informed that Rob was showing signs he was in the later stages of his life, we realized it was possibly the one time he did as expected. Those who loved him knew him to be a non-stop talker with an abundance of energy, always ready to laugh and always â always â ready to lend a hand. But, yikes, there were times â Story continues below advertisement Robert Harris. He was very proud of that car. He customized it with leather bucket seats and an incredible sound system. He was unfazed that there were a few bolts left over after installing the seats. Soon enough you got used to clutching the dashboard as Rob raced around the corner, blasting Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple on his eight-track. Once, after visiting Rob in the nursing home, I spoke with our brother Donnie. It started a fire. He was able to escape, dogs in tow. As unpredictable as Rob could be, there were also times when his kindness was overwhelming. As kids, we would walk barefoot. And once, walking through the schoolyard, he saw glass on the pavement. I was only a year younger but he hoisted me on his back and carried me to safety. In northern New Brunswick, where we lived for four years, the winters were severe and life-threatening. The walk home from school was a long march in the middle of winter. I laid down to sleep in the snow. Rob shook me, demanding I stand and walk with him. Rob was born in Toronto, after his sister Leslie, to Donald and Beatrice. The family grew quickly, two younger brothers followed, plus one more sister, Pamela. In the mids, Beatrice moved the children to New Brunswick to be closer to family and escape an abusive husband. Rob did not finish high school and instead worked for the post office for many years until retirement. He married in, and had a son, Aaron. Although estranged, Rob spoke with genuine love and fondness of his son. After his divorce, Rob lived a quiet life in Mississauga, and spent the last 10 years of his life in a nursing home. As a big brother, Rob was perfect, flawless. I looked up to Rob with older-brother reverence. In my eyes he could do no wrong, did no wrong and never disappointed. At least until he became sick, stopped driving me crazy and created this gaping hole only he can fill. 2 Chapter 2 : Touching Love Poem, Words From The Heart The Heart Of A Poet by Kenneth Maswabi..A poet lives in an island of consciousness Bathed by the cold breeze of existence A poet rises above his selflimiting ego Shattering his manmade. I vex my heart alone, She is at rest. William Butler Yeats was the most famous Irish poet of all time, and his poems of unrequited love for the beautiful and dangerous revolutionary Maud Gonne have left her almost as famous. The first poem below is a loose translation of a Ronsard poem, in which Yeats imagines the love of his life in her later years, tending a fire. The second poem, "The Wild Swans at Coole," is surely one of the most beautiful poems ever written, in any language. When You Are Old When you are old and grey and full of sleep, And nodding by the fire, take down this book, And slowly read, and dream of the soft look Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true, But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending down beside the glowing bars, Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled And paced upon the mountains overhead And hid his face amid a crowd of stars. The Wild Swans at Coole by William Butler Yeats The trees are in their autumn beauty, The woodland paths are dry, Under the October twilight the water Mirrors a still sky; Upon the brimming water among the stones Are nine and fifty swans. The nineteenth Autumn has come upon me Since I first made my count; I saw, before I had well finished, All suddenly mount And scatter wheeling in great broken rings Upon their clamorous wings. I have looked upon those brilliant creatures, And now my heart is sore. Unwearied still, lover by lover, They paddle in the cold, Companionable streams or climb the air; Their hearts have not grown old; Passion or conquest, wander where they will, Attend upon them still. Felicia Hemans was a child prodigy who had her first book of poems published at age fourteen. There is in all this cold and hollow world, no fount of deep, strong, deathless love: They look enough alike to be brother and sister. And it really is a small world, because they were both poets, both child prodigies, and they corresponded after Hemans had her first book of poems published. Percy and Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley may have been the most notorious married couple of their era. He was a dashing romantic poet and heretic who wrote a tract, "The Necessity of Atheism," that got him expelled from Oxford. She was the daughter of one of the earliest feminist writers of note, Mary Wollstonecraft, and the liberal philosopher William Godwin. The spent the summer of with Lord Byron. It was at this time that Mary conceived the story that became her famous gothic novel Frankenstein. Six years later, her husband drowned at sea at age thirty. Who knows what he would have accomplished if he had lived longer, but he is still considered to be one of the greatest English poets. Here is one especially lovely example of his wonderful touch with rhythm and rhyme: When she married Robert Browning, theirs became the most famous coupling in the annals of English poetry. How Do I Love Thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of Being and ideal Grace. I love thee freely, as men strive for Right; I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. In My Craft Or Sullen Art by Dylan Thomas In my craft or sullen art Exercised in the still night When only the moon rages And the lovers lie abed With all their griefs in their arms, I labour by singing light Not for ambition or bread Or the strut and trade of charms On the ivory stages But for the common wages Of their most secret heart. Not for the proud man apart From the raging moon I write On these spindrift pages Nor for the towering dead With their nightingales and psalms But for the lovers, their arms Round the griefs of the ages, Who pay no praise or wages Nor heed my craft or art. Mary Elizabeth Frye is, perhaps, the most mysterious poet who appears on this page, and perhaps in the annals of Page 2
poetry. Rather than spoiling the mystery, I will present her poem first, then provide the details Do not stand at my grave and weep by Mary Elizabeth Frye Do not stand at my grave and weep: I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. I am the soft starshine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry: I am not there; I did not die. This consoling elegy had a very mysterious genesis, as it was written by a Baltimore housewife who lacked a formal education, having been orphaned at age three. As far as we know, she had never written poetry before. Frye wrote the poem on a ripped-off piece of a brown grocery bag, in a burst of compassion for a Jewish girl who had fled the Holocaust only to receive news that her mother had died in Germany. Frye never formally published or copyrighted the poem, so we believe it is in the public domain and can be shared, although we recommend that it not be used for commercial purposes, since Frye never tried to profit from it herself. Edward Thomas is not as well-known as some of the other poets on this page, but "Adlestrop" was among the top ten most requested poems at Poetry Please, so he continues to have fans. Page 3
Chapter 3 : Within the Heart of Silence by James William Peercy Heart Of A Poet. Inside the heart of a poet, Such a fragile place to be, With so many thoughts and feelings, Just wanting to be free. Has this poem touched you? I loved him dearly that not even once did I give up or stop loving him, yet now we fell apart. To have to take all the broken pieces of me and gather them together hurt me. It hurts knowing how happy he is with the girl he loves. I know when we love someone we should let them be happy. Go somewhere you can clear your mind. Who knows what will happen tomorrow in a relationship? You might just break up. How would you deal with the loss then? I have a best friend. I never had a fight with her before. She started a relationship with her boyfriend about 1 year ago. When meeting with my organization he always sits down next to me. He has certain conversations and jokes with me. Sometimes he even takes me home. When they celebrated their first year anniversary in a cafe, suddenly my tears drops down my cheeks and I cried a lot. I realized that I falling in love with him. And now they have been in relationships for 16 months. Am I wrong to fall in love with him? Love is like an uncontrollable bullet. If you try to hide your love for him, yes, it will do good to your friend and the lover, but you will have no peace. Love is something that costs nothing. Umer 1 year ago No, you are not wrong. But what can we do now? This will be the proof of your pure love. Start your new life and keep in touch with him. He made a bet to make me fall for him about 3 months ago. He was smart and charming. He was fun to talk to. All this happened on the phone. And then to dispose me off more, he sent me pictures and videos with other people about how they chill and all. He and I had certain jokes and stories and games. I thought he was only like that with me, but he is like that with everyone. We rarely talk because I no longer feel good about myself after our conversations. But I like him now too much. I force myself and I did it. But what happened next was he came back to me about 2 weeks ago and said to me that he wanted to start it over. Can you tell me what to do? What do you think is best for both of us? Why did he come back? If you still love him, then go, because love is about sacrificing. It is all about forgiving. We never know if the second time around is sweeter and will work. If yes, then make the move. Fighting is a part of being in love, believe me. He was thinking as much as you were. He came back to show you that he needs you in his path. It made me cry. We often use the word love but not actually know the meaning of it Love is different for everyone! Love means different things to different people. The reason we need our hearts broken is so they will grow back stronger, much like the muscles on our arms. The only way to train it is to tear it then let it grow back stronger and more prepared for other problems. We all have different definitions of love, but I think it is also when you trust that person fully and even through the fights you say you are willing to make this work. No one is perfect, but love covers it all. If he is made for you then he would definitely come. Keep calm, hold your nerves, and have patience. I fell in love with this girl, and we have been dating for the past 5 month. I really love her. Every month we celebrate our anniversary. I got her a promise neck chain on our first month anniversary. She broke up with me when she realized she was pregnant. I was really hurt because I loved her still and wanted the baby, but she demanded an abortion. Do I call her and try to make things work out again? Be the best you, and people are going to love you for that. I found out how painful it is to love someone because at the end of one day they broke up with me for no reason. It was the worst. I would let it go and move on, eventually. It got easier for me when I lost my mom in That was the greatest heart break of all. It may not seem like it, but it will get better. You just have to force yourself to let go. Love can be the most addictive drug on earth, with the same withdrawals as heroin. Just fight through it, my friend. Moving on may be hard, but the right woman is out there for you somewhere. All it requires is a little faith and patience. I mean, I know you think that maybe your relationship just hit a bump, but I think you just smashed into a mountain. Now I also know you need closure, so try and talk to her. See why she is not interested anymore. I just want to know, Is our chance so low? This love is too much. You just leave me like a scratch. Early this year I was raped and I got pregnant and aborted it. He stood by me every step of the way. He never comes to visit anymore. Even though it might not feel like that, you are an amazing woman. You are a strong woman. I hope you find a better lover that will be with you. Maybe he is having a rough time Page 4
emotionally, but if he was brave enough to stay with you before, then he will be there. Give him some time. Everything will be fine. One weekend he hung out with an old friend to catch up. He broke up me after that day. I didnt know why it hurt so bad. I love him and miss him so much. Today we went behind the stairs and we were hugging and crying and we kissed, but I want the pain to end. I just want this to end. Sometimes it only takes time to heal. I hope the time comes that your wound totally stops hurting. Page 5
Chapter 4 : Christian Poem on Struggling,Poem on Feelings of Inadequacy Inner Beauty Quotes. If the cover doesn't catch their eye they won't bother to read what's inside." beauty is a light in the heart." â Kahlil Gibran. Within the Heart of Silence is an important reminder of the power and beauty of nature. The reader will feel a sense of calmness as each poem and photograph are magically revealed. The depth of each poem makes the reader stop and reflect. Take the time to read and enjoy this beautiful journey. I thoroughly enjoyed how each poem is a complementary piece to a photograph, both of which were a delight to the soul, to say the least. As a poet and lover of poetry, I can tell you each poem and each photograph brought a smile to my face. The poems are positive and have a message within them. The entire theme of the book is very soothing. My favourite lines would be: And while I highly appreciate the gift of a kindle edition from the author, I look forward to buying the paperback for thorough enjoyment of the words and photographs, and to witness them leap out of the page. I think this is a lovely little book of poetry and photography. This book focuses on a few themes that I think are important in these times. There are also some poems that touch on the need to let love rule â whether it is romantic I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. There are also some poems that touch on the need to let love rule â whether it is romantic love or universal love. I think we could use more poetry about all of these topics. So, from that perspective, I agree with others that this is probably best enjoyed in the print version than in the Kindle version. Otherwise, this is a pleasant read of some heartfelt poetry that I believe many can enjoy. To read and to write. I find it easier to write poetry than to write a novel. Poetry has less words than a novel yet speaks volumes. This is no different. In fact this sets the bars high. Not only is the wrong powerful but the photographs are just outstanding. They both the photographs and the poetry are magnificent. If someone asks me which of these poems were my favourite I would say them all. They are all well-worded and amazing. The photography done by Jaqueline E Smith are just amazing. I find myself going back just to stare at the photos. They captured the essence of the subjects very well. It looks almost real in a bunch of them. The poetry by James William Peercy is just amazing. I have no words to describe them. They spoke to me on so many levels. This was an honour to read the poetry and to see these photos. Chapter 5 : My Hidden Voice - Heart Of A Poet Heart of a poet. 93 likes.
