1 Milind - NagsenVana Group, Utkarsh Foundation, All Ambedkarite Friends & Committee Organizes Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Nayak 2019 State Level Competition In every country, the intellectual class is the most influential class, if not the governing class. The intellectual class is the class which can foresee, it is the class which can advise and give lead. In no country does the mass of the people live the life of intelligent thought and action. It is largely imitative and follows the intellectual class. There is no exaggeration in saying that the entire destiny of a country depends upon its intellectual class. If the intellectual class is honest, independent and disinterested, it can be trusted to take the initiative and give a proper lead when a crisis arises. It is true that intellect by itself is no virtue. It is only a means and the use of means depends upon the ends which an intellectual person pursues. An intellectual man can be a good man but he can easily be rogue. Similarly, an intellectual class may be a band of high-souled persons, ready to help, ready to emancipate erring humanity or it may easily be a gang of crooks or a body of advocates of a narrow clique from which it draws its support. - DR. B. R. AMBEDKAR Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar as an unassailable leader of modern age is well acknowledged by all. However, the reality of the Ambedkarite movement in terms
2 of social, economic, cultural, and political and other fields of national life is disappointing as it is not moving ahead towards the goals. The reason for the same is that even if we have good vision and all the positive intentions but we fall short of a decisive action towards achieving our goals, shirk away from our responsibility, thinking that somebody else should come forward to do it. It is a fact that time waits for none and marches ahead; what is left behind are our noble dreams of advanced society unfulfilled. Without a comprehensive understanding of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in its entirety, it is not possible to lead the struggle in social, political, cultural, religious and all other fields successfully. It requires the thinking and actions on the same lines as those of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Though there is no dearth of scholars, writers and activists, we have failed to take this movement to its logical end. No matter what we think, it does not go in the direction that we expect. Hence, the thought and action should be directed only in the way that Dr. Babasaheb envisioned. Several people have read, pondered, delivered speeches and published a lot on the path-breaking movement of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Most of them are in fact directly associated with his movement engaging themselves in writing short stories, auto narratives, poems, plays etc. and participated in literary, cultural and social events. They are also convinced beyond doubt that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar is the only password of the reconstruction of modern India, but no real work is seen to be done in this direction. The establishment of an egalitarian social order through annihilation of caste; and the creation of glorious and Strong Nation is not possible without the vision of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. The only way forward is to preach and propagate the thoughts of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar to make this nation glorious and Strong. Dr. Ambedkar has established some principles, facts and path of the movement on the basis of his thorough research in respect of social, economic, anthropological, religious and cultural aspects of Indian society. His views on various issues are available in his books and other literature published in the form of Babasaheb Ambedkar Writings and Speeches (BAWS) which is readily available. Most of us have it, but very few have read it. And those who read it, very few have acted upon it. Those who have acted upon it, could not take it ahead for want of a good companions and support. To understand Babasaheb Ambedkar is to understand his principles and basics which are available in the form of his writings, other published literature and the struggles which he led.
3 The strength of the literature of Dr. Babasaheb can be seen by an example of Hon. Kanshiram who read one of Babasaheb s books, The Annihilation of Castes several times over a night and as he said, decided the object of his life to fulfil the mission of Babasaheb by annihilating the caste and successfully led the struggle after Babasaheb particularly in the Northern India. Therefore, we think and believe that anyone who reads Dr. Ambedkar s literature will definitely be transformed and become the medium of transformation of others. The real fuel and energy of the Ambedkarite Movement is in his thoughts and literature, but we are more involved and interested in celebration of Jayanti and deification of Babasaheb which is contradictory altogether. If this continues for long, then the dream of Babasaheb will never see the light of the day, and it will be impossible to create an egalitarian social order and a strong nation as a whole. That is the reason why we have decided and undertaken an action plan to make an appeal and offer an opportunity to the people to read original literature and thoughts of Babasaheb Ambedkar, understand, elaborate and express them. Dr. Ambedkar Nayak Committee has decided to conduct a State-Level reading, writing and elocution competition called Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Nayak 2019 based on literature of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar.
