1 We call it visual communication. Everywhere! Basically, if you can see it someone designed it! There all kinds of careers in the arts, especially graphic design. Some of the most common places we see design are in the following: corporate identity, branding, package or product design, advertising, fashion, editorial, music industry, poster design, and so on. There are so many ways to use graphic design. Often you will see photographs and text (use of words) used together. Therefore, I will require most assignments to have ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHY.

Log onto computer and go to class website. 4 Read agenda for day. 5 Work on warm-up quietly (3-5 minutes). 6 Listen for instruction. 7 Work time. 8 Clean-up.

3 Spiral Bound Sketchbook Sketchbooks - 50 collection Sketchbooks will be stamped on Fridays and collected every other week pt with a Klo s Review There is no lab fee required for the class, but I will ask that you purchase a few of your own items: See attached for Klo s Review. 1. Spiral Bound Sketchbook (no smaller than 9in x 12 in) 2. Gluestick (not liquid) A STEP FURTHER... Sometimes class time just isn t enough time. Many of you will have the software at home, or, will look at purchasing it. Folks who want to work at home... really need to purchase a flash drive (no smaller than 300mb and I recommend at least 1 gig). A digital camera will be provided for use IN CLASS, but if the student wants to take his/her own photos outside of class, they should use a digital camera. GET AN ACCOUNT... Since I require most projects to contain original photographs, it will be easier if you create an account at You can upload all of your own images from home.

4 Tardies The tardy policy will be enforced as listed in the student handbook Absent Slips: Student and parent should fill out absent slip prior to turning in work. If work is turned in without it, it will be considered late work. *Refer to late work policy. Extensions: Student may pace themselves differently and I want to support each students individual needs. A student has as long as he/she and the teacher feels is necessary to complete the assignment, however, an Extention Form MUST be filled out at least 1 Class period prior to the assignments due date. Absences prior to the due date IS NOT AN EXCUSE! If work is turned in without it, it will be considered late work. *Refer to late work policy. The following are possible consequences. Every situation is looked individually. Teacher reserves the right to go directly to the AP for alternative consequences.
