2 ACCOMMODATION Vikasa could be described as somewhere between a hotel and an authentic Thai experience. It is definitely not a typical hotel. This place was created with yoga at the source, so the whole concept of it is around yoga, proper nutrition, and a perfect environment for practice. It offers a variety of unique rooms styles that meet a wide budget range. These different styles provide a range of experiences to choose from, whether you re looking for something authentic and eco-friendly, or you prefer the typical comforts of a modern hotel. Although the rooms are simple and modest, the location is majestic and awe-inspiring. The Yoga Caves are small but comfortable. They offer sweeping views over the sea and rocks below. Relax on your comfy bed facing out over the ocean and take in one of the best panoramas on Koh Samui. Modest in terms of size but still a high standard, the airconditioned Yoga Caves offer a quiet, personal place to stay if you want a single room at a reasonable price. The yoga caves do not have bathrooms en-suite. There is a large shared restroom and shower facility located just behind the block of Yoga Caves. The showers have hot water and shampoo provided. 6 Yoga Rhos and Jan soon realised after their first retreat together in India that students benefited enormously from two teachers, with different and complimenting approaches. This gives plenty of time for adjustments and encouragement to go to your edge, whilst listening to your body..and lots of fun. Rhos has been practising yoga for more than 15 years and has been teaching since he completed his teacher training in New York in 2005 (Integrated Science of Hatha Tantra and Ayurvedic Medicine). Rhos is registered with the Yoga Alliance UK (Senior Yoga Teacher, SYT). He is currently based and predominantly teaching in London. Rhos is particularly interested in the strength and alignment aspects of yoga which he incorporates into his teaching. His classes involve some dynamic flow and the use of breath to movement, with a careful awareness of alignment. This develops into a beautiful connection of a mind and body practice, which helps you realise that sometimes the hardest work is just to let go. Rhos says: Yoga is my passion in life. Being able to share my passion with others is the most rewarding experience and is my gift to share. A gift which I have learnt from others, teachers, cultures, travels, students and through my own self-practice. This inspires me to continue to learn and share my knowledge which I acquire everyday of my life. Jan is an experienced yoga teacher and Thai yoga massage practitioner with qualifications from the British Wheel of Yoga and the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta centre, as well as the Mudita school of massage. She has taught at many well-known spas and yoga centres around the world including Italy, India, St Lucia, Grenada and Sardinia Yoga. Jan has been practicing yoga for over 40 years, following in the footsteps of her mother who taught Iyengar yoga. Initially enjoying the physical benefits strength, flexibility and muscle tone she also came to appreciate the spiritual and lifestyle benefits It is this holistic approach to yoga that Jan hopes to pass on to her students. Jan believes the benefits of this ancient practice can be experienced by EVERY body, men and women of any age or fitness level.
