2 1. Preface Welcome at with the 2-year Yoga Teacher Training. Here is your study guide of the training in which you will find information about us, the teachings and practical information. The tradition The Yoga Vidya association is Europe s leading training institute for yoga teachers. In 1992 Sukadev founded the first Yoga Vidya center in Frankfurt. This resulted in the largest yoga movement in Europe. Sukadev was a direct disciple and personal assistant of Swami Vishnu-Devananda, a world famous master in Hatha and Raja Yoga. As a direct disciple of Swami Sivananda, one of the greatest yoga masters of the 20th century, Swami Vishnu- Devananda brought yoga to the West. The tradition is preserved and the teachings will be presented to you in the same way. Yoga Vidya is recognized as a non-profit for the dissemination of wisdom-teachings (Vidya), exercises and techniques of classical holistic yoga. All course contributions support the work of the association. Yoga Vidya has four big seminar houses with accomodation facilities (also called Ashrams) in Germany. There are Yoga Vidya Centers in more than 90 cities in Germany, Switserland and The Netherlands. In numerous courses and seminars we teach the various aspects of yoga. The Seminar House Yoga Vidya Bad Meinberg is the largest yoga teachers course and education center of Europe. 3. Our mission We contribute to the world by passing on the knowledge of yoga. Content and subjects of the Yoga Teacher Training This unique Teacher Training Course (TTC) gives you the opportunity to deepen your yoga practice, achieve big personal changes and to become a knowledgeable & certified Yoga teacher. Learn the true essence of the ancient Indian wisdom. Get complete knowledge of asanas (yoga postures), anatomy, pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, kriyas (cleansing exercises), mantras, yogic diet, ayurveda and learn to teach yoga classes to different kind of students. All these topics will improve your own life and can be used as tools to become more aware and better connected with your true Self. From here you have the perfect foundation to pass on this knowledge to others! Yoga is a lifestyle, an holistic system which you can integrate into all facets of life. Feel inspired, healthy and ready for a new bright chapter of your life! Your group will meet every week. You will have a break from daily life, time to study and practice together and enjoy moments of peace. You will learn about the yoga principles with 1,5 hour of yoga practice, a nutritious vegan meal and 1,5 hour of yoga philosophy. You will take turns in food preparation, which will expand your cooking skills, getting to know all about wholesome and organic yogic diet! 5. Requirements, target group & level The Yoga Teacher Training course is suitable for anyone between years who wants to deepen his or her own Yoga practice and become a qualified and skilled yoga teacher. The course is suitable for those who are fairly new to yoga as well for the experienced practitioner. Basic knowledge of asana and yoga philosophy is necessary to know what to expect. An open mindset and the willingness to learn, share and grow are required. The willingness to honestly choose a healthy lifestyle is required. During the 2 nd year it is necessary to abstain from alcohol, tobacco, drugs, meat & fish due to the intense and powerful practices. Each day you will have to set aside minutes for your personal practice.

4 6. Goal Personal growth as well as becoming a knowledgeable, confident and competent yoga teacher. You will develop: Personal growth in asana practice, pranayama, meditation, chanting and much more. Understanding of the history and philosophy of ancient yoga through study of Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali & Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Deep unterstanding of the yoga tradition in the lineage of Swami Sivananda, Swami Vishnu Devananda and Sukadev. Understanding of Yoga as a holistic way of living. Using yoga tools for stress management, for therapy and healing, for development of spiritual abilities and for overall wellness. More Self-awareness and ability to change behaviour patterns on your own. Teaching skills and application of teaching methodology. You learn teaching different levels, pregnant woman, elderly, children, students with ailments (f.i. injuries or back pain) etc. Knowledge of anatomy & physiology including yoga anatomy. Understanding and integration of yogic norms & values. Personal growth through personal practice and guidance & mentoring of the teachers. During these two years you will work with different techniques to discover what works best for you. You retain the freedom to integrate elements of other yoga or practice systems into your practice. Unlimited access to our regular classes on the schedule at. Having the support and guidance of qualified and experienced teachers when changes are being made, doubts and questions arise. Becoming self-supported with knowledge and experience. Becoming a strong, rooted & independent teacher, ready and self-confident to pass on the teachings!

5 7. Costs We offer 4 different prices depending on the choice of accommodation during the intensive week in Germany. The costs are extended over a period of two years (24 months) and will be conducted from your account each month around the first. A Dutch bank account is required , - per month dormitory or tent , - per month 4-bedroom , - per month 2-bedroom , - per month single room The dormitory counts 6-12 beds. The single room has its own bathroom. Sign up is possible before 1 st of January. Registration fee: 75,- Early Bird before 1 st of November ,- before 1 st of January 2019 Including a personal intake conversation at or by (skype) call. The monthly fee includes: All Yoga Teacher Training course lessons Access to all yoga classes of the daily schedule of Accommodation and organic, vegetarian/vegan meals during the intensive weeks Practical and theoretical exam Certificate when completed the training Yoga Teacher Manual, Kirtan book and Yoga Vidya carry bag Discount for many workshops & events at 20% discount on all seminars at the Yoga Vidya seminar houses in Germany All discounts are valid during the 2-year course period. *The course fees are tax deductible. So you can declare the full study costs including the extra costs of books at the tax authority. Additional costs: Per training year approximately 70,- for books and class material Travel expenses to Bad Meinberg, approximately 50,- per year

6 8. Course material You will receive a comprehensive Yoga teachers manual, asana chart and a Mantra book. These educational materials are from that moment your own belongings. The following books must be purchased: In the first year: The Complete Illustrated Book of Yoga by Swami Vishnu-Devananda Meditation and Mantras by Swami Vishnu-Devananda Yoga Vidya Asana Book by Sukadev Bretz The Bhagavad Gita with commentary by Sri Swami Sivananda free available as pdf-file In the second year: The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali by Sri Swami Satchidananda Understanding human Anatomy & Physiology by Mader free as pdf-file Hatha Yoga Pradipika by Swami Vishnu-Devananda De prices of the above books are between 18,- and 22,- per book. 9. Exemption policy With the 200 hour Yoga Vidya teacher training (4 weeks intensive) you may enrol into the 2nd year of this 2-year Yoga Teacher training. With the 200 hour training at the Sivananda organization (4 weeks intensive) you may enrol into the 2nd year of this 2-year Yoga teacher training after an approved demonstration lesson. Other courses or classes have no effect on this training. 10. Study load You will have 723 study units of 45 minutes spread over 2 years. Additional personal practice and study of minutes daily.

7 11. Certificate / Exam The association Yoga Vidya e.v. is the largest European training institute for yoga teachers. The Yoga Vidya Teacher Training course content refers to the guidelines of the German Association of Yoga Teachers (BDY) and the European Yoga Union (EYU). The 2-year program exceeds the minimum required hours for these programs. Yoga Vidya e. V. is recognized and registered as a training institute by the international organization Yoga Alliance. This 2-year yoga teacher training is recognized by the Yoga Alliance with 500 hours. Once registered with the Yoga Alliance you may use the title RYT 500. You will receive a certificate as Yoga teacher (BYV) Exam The Federation of Yoga Vidya Teachers (BYV) will coordinate the examinations. The practical exam will take place in Bad Meinberg (Germany) during the intensive week of the 2nd year. The written theoretical exam will take place during the exam weekend in January or February at the end of the 2-year training period. Second chance possibilities Practical exam: You will receive the result on the same day. In case of a negative result, you may do exam again the next day. If the performance is still not good enough, you may do your practical exam again during the exam weekend. Theoretical exam: In case you do not succeed in the written exam, you will be tested orally the same day. If the result is still insufficient, you can redo the whole exam-weekend. This involves additional expenses.

8 12. Catch up regulations Prerequisite for admission to the exam is a presence of at least 78 (of 87) of the weekly classes and full attendance of the 6 intensive weekends and the 2 intensive weeks. Weekly training lessons To catch up on classes is only possible if you have already missed classes. To save hours on beforehand is not possible. You may catch up on classes by following Yoga classes, Satsangs or workshops at or at our Yoga Vidya partner Ashrams in Germany. Always inform your head-training teacher about the need or wish to catch up. Together with your head-training teacher you will look for the most suitable classes, course or workshop. Additional you will need to do home study on the covered topic. Please contact and ask your fellow students. Weekends in Rotterdam You need to be fully present during the intensive weelkends. In case you have to miss a whole weekend or part of it, you will need to discuss the possibilities of replacing this weekend with your head training teacher. The preference is that you take all data in account and that you are fully present during the intensive weekends. Intensive week in Germany To arrive later or to depart earlier is not possible. You will have to be present in Germany during the whole week. Strive for being present during all classes in order to undergo the full experience of the intensive practice. In case you have to miss the whole week, please discuss the catch up possibilities with your head-training teacher. The preference is that you take the date of the intensive week into account. Be ware that cancellation of the intensive week shorter than 2 weeks in advance involves expenses. The dates of these intensive weekends and weeks can be found on our website, brochure and will be announced in the welcome you receive once you have signed up for the Yoga Teacher Training.

9 13. Teachers Head training teacher Rama Shakti Janine Brall Most classes will be provided by Rama Shakti. In case of longer disease or inability to teach, a teacher with similar qualifications will be scheduled. Additional teachers Experienced teachers of : Parashakti Marjolein Rikkelman Anda Jyoti Jan van den Maagdenberg Iris Gloudemans Willie Rozendal Ganesha Maarten van Otterdijk and others. Guest teachers For specific topics guest teachers will be invited. Below a list of teachers that have given classes in the teacher training in the past: Sina Kaden, Ineke Theel (Yoga for the back) Linda Hartenberg (Anatomy) Swami Ma Tripurashakti (Hatha Yoga, Meditation, Yoga philosophy) Vijay Gopal (Hatha yoga and philosophy) Yogesh Patel (Hatha Yoga and philosophy) Swami Saradananda (Hatha Yoga and philosophy) Rama Schwab (Hatha Yoga & philosophy) There will be a minimum of 2 guest teachers per training year. Teachers Intensive week The intensive week in Germany will be taught by one or more experienced teachers from the Ashram.

10 14. Terms & Conditions Basic knowledge of asana and yoga philosophy is necessary to have an idea what to expect in this training. Regular participation in the training lessons and the desire to develop your self are assumed. Every day you will have to set aside approximately minutes for your personal practice. During the second year we ask you to abstain from using drugs, alcohol, tobacco, meat and fish (because of advanced pranayama practice). The training will be given entirely in English and the literature is mostly English too. It is therefore necessary that you are familiar with the English language. Prerequisite for admission to the exam is a presence of at least 78 (of 87) of the weekly classes and full attendance of the 6 intensive weekends and the 2 intensive weeks. Missed classes and weekends can be replaced by following suitable workshops/seminars at or at the Yoga Vidya seminar houses (Germany). This involves expenses. If the program has to be aborted for any reason, this is possible but in that case a payment of 25% of the remaining training fee has to be made. Find our full terms and conditions on
