2 July 9 th 08 Meditate on light & deepen insight!!. OM Mantra OM is one of the oldest and most highly regarded mantras found in the Vedic Texts. Of all the mantras, the most powerful and the significant one is the single-syllabled incantation called the Pranava. This is the OM. In every piece of music there are three aspects, namely (1) the meaning of the song; (2) the laws of music, and (3) the sound of the song. Similarly, on OM there are three aspects. The first is the mere sound, the mere mantra as pronounced by the mouth; the second is the meaning of the syllable, which is to be realized through feeling; and the third is the application of OM to your character, singing it in your acts, and so through your life. The first part of the workshop would be focused on Practice, meaning and rules of chanting OM. II. Tratak The second half of the workshop would be focused on meditating on the divine light in the form of Tratak, one of the six purificatory techniques (Shatkriyas) in Yoga. Tratak (fixed gazing) Meditation is a traditional basic exercise to acquire concentration and control the mental waves. Actually it means an unbroken gaze or attention fixed on an object, a steady gazing at a particular point or object without winking - looking at or into it. III. Yognidra The third part of workshop is practice of Yognidra. 6 Mudras for Hands, Face 11 th July 2008 Living Yoga Studio and Body 7:00 to 8:30 pm 11 th, 12 th and 13 th July 08 Anyone, who can breathe do Mudras. Mudras are the ancient Yogic art and science of gesturing and sealing vital pranic energies in the human body for health, well being and spiritual evolution. It also works as a therapy for the body and mind by balancing the ratio of five elements (panch tattvas) when done with hands. Along with Asanas, Mudras are employed along with Yogic Meditation to energize the Chakras and calm the mind. These are advanced techniques designed to improve neuromuscular coordination, culture human emotions and still the restless mind. This workshop intends to take a deep dive into the various classes of Mudras such as the hastha Mudras (gestures of the hands), Pada Mudras (gestures of the feet), chakshu Mudras (gestures of the eyes), and Body Mudras. Concentration is improved and the mind settles into the body better when such Mudras are used. Mudras gesture the energy necessary and seal that otherwise intangible and illusive moment, fixing it for all time in our heart and nerves, bones and blood, mind and body, soul and thought creating a solid foundation upon which to build a spectacular healthy, happy and spiritual life.
